If you ground the wire you will be able to watch movies without pulling the parking brake, although its not very safe to watch a movie while driving.

i tried grounding the wire. didnt work. i used the mute wire and touched the e-brake wire to it a coupple times untill it showed the video then grounded it... but i dont feel like having to touch wire everytime and have it look like ****... ive heard that you have to jump it back and forth or somethin a coupple times.

i cant give you too much insight, but my friend just used a switch from autozone to control the parking brake wire. maybe you can do that?

the wire just wants either a ground or power signal.
give it what it wants ![]() a switch is a good idea. -------------------- |

since you jump it back and forth, it may be possible to hook it up to a switch, try one end being ground, the other the e-brake wire, turn the power on, once hte unit is on, flick the switch back n forth a few times then leave it on, see if that works. not sure, but is the mute wire a ground? if its not and its power, then use a power wire instead of the ground above.
mine involves the foot brake so the procedure is as follows: push in foot brake (toggle switch with power & radio wire) pull ebrake (toggle switch with ground & radio wire) let ebrake down pull ebrake up let off foot brake once thats done it works, but needs to be done everytime i watch a movie theres also a unit like tr47 or something, thats does the whole dance procedure for your specific model 5 seconds after the ignition is turned on. its like $15-30 depending on your model head unit -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

found this:
The VM9311 (Phase Linear UV7 also), VM9411, VM9511TS and VM9021TS incorporate a new video inhibit circuit. The Parking Brake Inhibit wire is the same as previous models – PINK. In order for video to be displayed, the pink wire cannot be simply “grounded, a brake (pulse) sequence must be completed before the head unit will display video. These instructions are clearly indicated in each operation manual for each unit, but this paper will explain the procedure for convenience. Before starting the parking brake sequence, the head unit must be “ON” with video media (i.e. – a disc) inserted and playing. At this point, the blue warning screen with yellow writing will appear. The parking brake sequence can now be started. There are two situations, in which, the parking brake sequence can begin: · Parking brake is engaged (ON) when the vehicle is started or ACC / IGN is turned ON. To activate video; o Release parking brake for 1 ~ 2 seconds o Reapply parking brake o Video should be displayed on the TFT monitor within 1 ~ 2 seconds. If video is not displayed, then the brake sequence will need to be repeated. The timing window is 1 ~ 2 seconds, if the time is less than or greater than this time, video will not be displayed. Allow 10 seconds between repeated attempts or the video will remain locked out. · Parking brake is not engaged (OFF) when the vehicle is started or ACC / IGN is turned ON. To activate video; o Apply parking brake for 1 ~ 2 seconds o Release parking brake for 1 ~ 2 seconds o Reapply parking brake o Video should be displayed on the TFT monitor within 1 ~ 2 seconds. If video is not displayed, then the brake sequence will need to be repeated. Allow 10 seconds between repeated attempts or the video will remain locked out. Note: Depending on the vehicle, the brake “switch” may engage before the actual brake stops or reaches its end of travel point. This must be taken into consideration when applying the brake sequence. A few attempts may be necessary to familiarize the end-user with his or her vehicle. -------------------------------------------- and then this: you can bypass it even if it needs the pulse brake sequence. power up your jensen, do the break sequence (engange for 5 seconds, off for 5 seconds, then engage) and make the video come up. once you do play a dvd, it HAS to be during the movie, not the previews or menu. after you ahve a dvd playing press stop, stop, 1, 2, 6, 4, on the remote. youll see a menu that says: Region Code Brake Override Macrovision (Watch all the burned and pirated movies you want if this option is off) Loader Version Model Version set it to: Region Code: 1 Brake Override ON Macrovision: OFF then hit the sys setup button twice to save your settings. it is some times hard to enter the sequence, you gotta do it fast. some jensens come with 2 remotes, so make sure its the one with the sys button, since you need that to save the settings. this will work on any model jenson or phase linear indash that requires the pulse ground ebrake. this really does work, im an installer at circuit city, so ive done it before. oh and btw, it is against the law to watch video while your driving, plus its pretty dangerous. im not to be held responsible! -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

thwnks for all the help. i got it figured out. i ran the ground to the power spot on the switch, and the e-brake wire to the ground on the switch. but you still have to follow switch on/ off / on method or switch off / on /off / on ... but it works now and if i get pulled over all i have to do is flip a switch.
