ive got an over the top performer, nothing much to look at, but has some cool UV water cooling lines and blue neons n such. i only use it to game. will try n get some up tomorrow.

btw awesome idea on the aquarium!!! if you could section off the boards and have an area to fill with water and have actual fish around it... that would be killer!

Something like $450.

There are two fans. One on the heatsink, and one sitting on top of the empty PCI slots, however the fans don't to much cooling. It's the mineral oil that does the bulk of the cooling. The fans just move it around..

and wait until we turn on the bubbles..... wink.gif

One on the left is the newest although i've had it for a good 1.5 2 years with only minor upgrades.
Left:
Asus A8N-E
AMD 4200+ x2 (OC to 2.4ghz)
2 gb corsair ram
BFGtech 7800 GTX OC
quad WD 120gb sata drives

Right: (3+ years old)
pos off brand mobo
1.5gb kingston ram
bfgtech 5700 LE OC
160gb WD drive

I'm not a big fan of flashy boxes and lots of lights, I like a good clean and look with a little style. Its deffinetly time for a new pc but I dont use mine enough to justify getting a new one, I mostly just use my work laptop. and my desktop plays the fav games with ease so I cant justify the 2k I would put down on one.

Mine aren't too flashy, they're just powerful/useful wink.gif.

Main PC is an overclocked Quad Core Intel with 2gb of ram, an 8800GTS 640mb, 690gb of hard drive space all attached to a 24" Dell LCD and lives inside a Coolermaster Stacker ?510?. Then I have my Toshiba Tecra A6 laptop and then my NAS server which doesn't do much except look after 2.7tb of disk space for me smile.gif.

It works and keeps it accessable in case I need to debug something.

The screen is a Xenarc 700TSV.

Dual monitors can be made with special adapter, or if you have a VGA and DVI outlet on the back of your video card.

duel monitor support is standard in most desktops/video cards with duel ports, also most OS's support it with no issues unless you have Vista in which case prepair for pain.

Its been a while since I've had duel montiors at home (almost a requirement at work though) I have 1 samsung 204b on my tower and have wanted another for some time but the $300 price tag is more then I'm willing at the moment and I cant stand the thought of having 2 diff monitors specialy since my samsung is as perfect as a monitor gets (for the times) in my opinion.

I just got my new parts ordered a few minutes ago. Im still going dual core till AMD releases the Deneb cores and socket AM3 (Hopefully Q2 09)

the one i just got parts for is to let me retire this one and recommission it as a better server than what i've got.

I'm not going to post any pictures yet since my room looks like a disaster and my case looks bland. But this is basically my arsenal.

Desktop: (a work in progress)
AMD Athlon X2 5200+ overclocked to 3.12GHz
2GB 667 RAM
2 x 160GB 7200RPM HDD
350W PSU (I have a feeling all this over-clocking will fry it) :'(
ASUS M3N78-VM mobo
GeForce 8200 GPU overclocked to 550mhz
Logitech 5.1 surround
Old Dell keyboard (This thing is indestructable)
Dual Booting Windows Vista Ultimate X64 (for gaming) and Ubuntu 8.10 X64 Beta (pretty much every thing else)

Netbook:
ASUS Aspire One
Intel Atom 1.6GHz with HT
1.5GB 533 RAM
8GB SSD
Intel onboard graphics
Running Ubuntu 8.10 X86 Beta

Those are my two main ones, apart from that I have an old Dell PIII running as a server, my old 2.2GHz AMD Athlon64 laptop, and a 2.66GHz northwood-P4 desktop that malfunctions all the time and is hardly worth the effort.

So like 5 in total.

This is my new Mini 9. I have appropriately named him Verne (somebody please get that reference).

Intel atom N270 1.6Ghz
2GB RAM
16GB SSD
Webcam ---- holla'

TV remote for size reference.

Verne next to Stanley (Inspiron 9300). Again, note the size. My 9300 is a standard 17" laptop.

The oil acts as a coolant or large heatsink for all of the internals. It would be impossible for the computer to heat up the oil entirely. A few of the components of the computer have to be sealed with aquarium sealer iirc, mainly the processor.

The oil eliminates the needs for noisy and dusty fans.

And oil is nonconducting. if this was water it would be a different story..

i have the same thing in blue, although im too lazy to pull out the keyboard to add extra ram. also i opted for the 160 GB HD and i loaded Vista Ultimate on there biggrin.gif hard to beat 7 hrs of battery life with less than 3 lbs of laptop.

in this pic its the smallest laptop on the bottom, with a 8.9" screen. The middle is my 17" P4 with 2 GB ram also running vista ultimate, and my 47" LCD is displaying the 17" laptop (although it will hook up to the 8.9" nicely)

pretty neat how its less than half the size of the bigger one

inside the compaq

6GC on the big screen

dunno why the screen looks so dull though. i hate my camera's flash mad.gif

OH SHI-

I made a typo. Thats very unlike me. Yeah, I was totally probably just thinking about my motherboard on my big computer.

It confuses the hell out of me how such a tiny thing can run vista, and apparently with Aero. Like how? Was the install forever? Does it have any functionality issues?

I think I am going to need to reinstall Ubuntu on mine since I am unable to get Compiz-Fusion working again. Compiz-Fusion is crucial to the enjoyment of my netbook. I upgraded from the beta to 8.10 and it did not complete entirely so there is a lot of **** that is wrong with it now, including textures with Wine. However I should poast pics of it and my giant computer, and maybe my old school Compaq R4000. That thing is a beast of a laptop.

Takes me back to the old days....

Grabbed the computer and monitor for free off craigslist. The keyboard and mouse from work (they were throwing the old ones out so I asked if I could have them smile.gif ). Everything works fine, they might not be up to date (not even close), but I consider this my "free computer set up". Also my Compaq laptop on top of the box for my new computer's tower. On the plus side, the free computer came with DOOM already installed on it, so I've been playing a little bit of that biggrin.gif

oh man, I am soo glad we are past dial up internet. We had it for far too long until we finally got broadband.

Only thing I'm disapointed about is I can't find one of the floppy disks for my Speed Racer game I used to love to play, so can't DL the game frown.gif

Hahaha yeah. You know what, I kind of miss the blue screen that told me in an overly technical way that after being up for 56 hours the drivers for my hard drive have failed and that I would need to restart instantly and that my system has become critically unstable. I honestly haven't experienced that since Windows 98 SE. THOSE were the days. I'm going to boot up my brother's old IBM laptop, just to relive that ****.

It's not much, but here's mine:

Asus A8N32-SLI
AMD 4200+
2gb Corsair XMS
eVGA 512MB 7950GT KO (thinking about going SLI if I can find another card without getting out-bidded on. lol)
Sound Blaster Platinum X-Fi
OCZ GameXStream 600W
WD 150GB Raptor
WD 500GB
Seagate 400GB
Seagate 1.5TB (Yes. That's 1500GB aka 1.5Tera)
Thermaltake Armor Full tower (massively heavy)
Windows XP Pro
Gen 1 Logitech G15 keyboard
Razer Copperhead mouse
MAG Innovision 19" flat screen CRT
OEM Sony Vaio 2.0 speakers

(list is shorter than the mods to the Poopra. lol)

I had a Zalman 9500 HS&F, but that got clogged up with dirt and stopped working, so I'm using the stock HS&F. I know that I do need to manage my wires a whole lot better. I just need to get my hands on a dremel so that I can make some holes in the Mobo tray and route some cables behind the tray, flip the front hard drives around to route the SATA cables behind tray as well while upping to the SATA2 with the 90* connectors. Other than that, it runs Crysis on medium settings.

I bought a case for work that has built-in cable management. It gives you ~4" of space between the back of the MB tray and the rear case door. I have pictures on my other laptop so I'll get those up tomorrow.

Or buy yourself a Lian-Li case. They cost a pretty penny, buy I promise you it'll be the best case you'll ever buy.

The case is called the Antec Skeleton. I have always had a believed in an open case design. It has less dust. But I am not married and there are no kid around my house so I can have cool toys like this!

HAhaha I just like the fan. I just priced it up at around $180 which is way out of my league. Fort that price I can get a stainless steel case biggrin.gif

But I do like the open concept, that is so cool. However I sleep in the same room as my computer, and although I hear it makes no noise at low speed, overclocked components will not allow it to run at low speed wink.gif

B/C I like the fact that it's a silent Graphic card (which btw, the whole system is put together and running and is really quiet and fast compared to what I'm used to biggrin.gif) I'll have pics of my set up one of these days here soon.

Yeah, I opted for an EVGA 9800GT Superclocked for $150 on Friday. I don't get to use it though, I need a new PSU. But I'm almost certain, like all my components, it will run REALLY HOT and require a really fast and loud fan. How much did the 9600 cost you?
