Rayme's parking tips
Maximize your chances

There's always ways to maximize your parking space to not get your car dinged, or minimize any sort of potential damage...of course you don't always get the choice of a space when you park, but keep those in mind:

1. Park the furthest away from the door
•There is less traffic as people try to park close the entrance so there is less change of people parking away.

2. Park near Sedans
•Their doors are shorter than coupes, less chance of accidental dings

3. Park on a car who's passenger side if facing you
•Chances are the car has no passenger, so no door opening on your car!

4. Park next to a new car / clean car
•The drivers will likely take more attention since it's his new prized possesion.

5. Backup in the parking!!!!
•If somebody accidently hit your car, its way easier and cheaper to replace a fender than repair a quarter panel. Not to mention you can probaby repair it at home if it's a lame hit and run.

6. Do not park near vans...kids sometime likes to lean and touch stuff like cars

7. Park against a pole or a cart storage space
•Nobody will park next to you

8. Try to shop at wierd hours when nobody is there wink.gif

If you have more, let's hear them!

I saw a viper taking 2 spaces on Jersey gardens mall during Christmas season, a guy driving a old Chevrolet truck wasn't happy and let's say that he took a piece of the viper home with him.

7. Park against a pole or a cart storage space

Have to disagree with that one - people might run their shopping trolley into you.

And taking up two spaces really is asking for it.

do not park near the pathway for people that do not drive!! even if it's far away... they will more than likely do sumthin since it is far away from everyone else and no1 will see

park in corner spots w/ the curb on ur side so ppl dun hit u

if there is a pole, park closer to the pole, since the person across the pole will most likely park further away and the person on ur other side w/o the pole will not be as close (unless they suck @ parking)

do not straighten out ur wheels. it gives the illusion that you are taking up more space than u r so ppl will park slightly further to prevent door dings

also, i alwas back in now.. but now i wonder if it really is cheaper to fix the front if they hit me really hard and screw up my turbo setup...

um... and parking further away does not help... someone ran a shopping cart into my civic when parked far away

and my celica had a huge dent in the fender (it was sooo close to my jdm lowbeams wif a custom tsx projector retrofit) when i parked it far away and near nice cars too (when i came out nobody was parked on the side that was hit)

always park under a light.
park were people can see it, ie: so vandals will be noticed.
park with other nice cars.
park uphill so stray carriages dont collect down where your car is.
yell things really loud while walking away from your car. like im crazy and i will find you!

never park next to suvs or trucks - there is a slight chance the people driving are (a) very large and need maximum door openage or (b) are very weak and can not hold onto the door when it opens and *bam* there goes your car door.

never park next to old, beat up cars.

never park next to handishnap spots.

never park next to a ricer.

do:

park next to benzes, bmws, rovers, etc.

park reversed next to bushes (where ther eis only one spot next to you)

park a little farther out, its worth the walk.

HAHAHAHAHHhahhahahahaha~

My apartments has an unsaid "designated" parking. See, near the houses, the faimly cars park, my chicks car sits there and has a crap load of dents and dings, but nobody wants to walk across the way to the opisite parking. That's where all the cool cars park, the new Saturn has the first spot, a Cobra has the second, and i take the end. There are 7 parking places between all 3 of us. We all live next to each other, and if one of us hears an alarm, all three of us run out with pistols in our hands...

So if i miss it, i know my local enthusiast will do the dirty work for me; and i for them. biggrin.gif

ask any houston member that's been over, they get another 2 spots to themselfs. those members will also tell you i have a double spot to park angled at my local gas station. lol.

That is the system to have.

I had to park across two spots last time I went to the movies cause the other cars already were. When I came out everyone was parked normal and I had a flyer in my windshield wiper that said something to the effect of "you park like an a$$hole" and had spots to check for reasons [similar to the old ricer ticket" thing]. I wasn't pissed about the accusation or the fact I had no choice - I was just pissed someone touched my car. Why do people feel it's ok to touch your car if they are delivering a flyer [even food flyers etc] - it's not. Noone should ever touch someone elses car - ever. mad.gif

i know its kind of a d-bag thing to do. but just to ensure no door dings, i sometimes like to take up as many spaces as i can. someone is less likely to do something to your car out of anger for taking up the spaces than to door ding your car, etc. just my .2 though

(but thats if you park away from the entrance)

I'm a firm believer that if you double park, sooner or later you will get more damage to your car or paint than you would if you took your chances with dings etc. Seriously, people get pissed when there is a full lot and some guy who thinks his car is "amazig" takes up two spots.. unless your car really truly is amazing.. someone will get pissed and do something.

I HATE when people double park. I usually park next to them anyway (in the Jeep).

Reading this makes me think of my mall, I used to always park underneath towards the back where no one ever parks. Then a year or two ago that park of the parking garage collapsed.

sooo don't park in parking garages they might fall on you :-P

i double parked early one morning at a grocery store and a douche came and parked so close to my passenger side and it made me so mad cuz he did it just to be a jerk. There were so many more parking spots even closer to the store. So I made myself feel better by writing him a note and telling him he was a jerk lol. I understand that if double park near the doors and its busy but come on it was 7am and there was no one at the store and i wasnt even near the closest part to the store. errr

anyways i dont really watch my parking anymore. I tend to park further away though when the car is all shiny and clean.

LMAO I wish parking on my campus was like that LOL.
I swear it's so stupid, we purchase parking passes for 200 per year (100/semester) and we're not even guaranteed a stupid parking spot.
ALSO, rain, snow or shine, some ppl are just idiots who still tend to park on the freakin yellow line causing the rest of the cars to have to shift over. So i can find a parking spot on the first isle however its like just tight enough to fit my car in there, so stupid and I end up having to go to the 6-7th isle to find a parking spot. Good thing I have remote start for the cold winter days.
