if they truly are seat cover replacements for OEM ones, it will take a bit of work to replace them. there's a how-to on here on how to replace your seat covers here.

also note: if you're planning on switching from fabric seat covers to leather seat covers.... read

QUOTE(WannabeGT4 @ Aug 6, 2005 - 6:11 PM)

Notes:
Foam from leather seats and fabric seats are slightly different. The bottom portion of foam on the fabric seats is about 1 inch shorter and does not have this flap:

Also, the foam "shoulders" of the fabric seats is a bit shorter and do not protrude out as far as the foam on the leather seats.

^ yeah, but that's only applicable when switching from OEM fabric to OEM leather. Since these covers are aftermarket, I'm not so sure the above would apply.

^ maybe you can ask for a sample of the leather used? they prob use the same leather on all the seats they make.

The guy told me the leather looks just like vinyl... like i didn't know that. Which still didn't answer the question of if they will make it in vinyl!!? I'm not about to drop 300 on 2 seat covers.

^ I don't think you SHOULD drop $300 on two seat covers. I watch their auctions often... drooling...waiting...stalking....

*wake up*

anyway, as I recall, often the auctions close at way less than $300. I believe I've seen them close as low as $100. I bet if you bought the whole set for that, or less than $300, you could sell the back covers to someone on here.

BTW I don't think these are your typical "seat covers" - in the little pix on their sell page, it looks like these are actually slip-on upholstery. They're installing them over seat foam in the pictures, and using a heat gun I'm guessing to activate some kind of adhesive on them or something? IDK

Sorry, quick thing– I was looking at the link they sent you and that one closed at 202.50 w/Reserve Not Met. I still think I've seen these close at less w/no reserve. But I was reading the description again:

WTF is "gewgaw"?!?!
gewgaw \G(Y)OO-gaw\, noun:
A showy trifle; a trinket; a bauble.

Bidders paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthless gewgaws--fake pearls, ashtrays, golf clubs--merely, one supposes, because they were touched by the hand of this celebrity of celebrities.
-- Lawrence M. Friedman, The Horizontal Society

At least, you're tempted until you discover that the price of this gewgaw is $175.
-- Walter Shapiro, "Earn exciting prizes from the Republicans!", USA Today, March 27, 2002

Walk into almost any department store, and there it is -- along with mounds of other gimmicky gadgets and garish gewgaws that (no offense, Vanna) the world can live without.
-- James A. Russell, "What the World Needs Now . . . Is Not Another Gimmicky Gadget or Worthless Doohickey", St. Louis Post-Dispatch, September 9, 1995

.............so basically i still have no idea laugh.gif

Not sure when i'm installing these I want to do it the same time i put my new carpet in, hopefully before the CSP meet. smile.gif

i bought these, the whole geegaw thing had me rolling. especially since their "full leather" set consists of leather fronts and vinyl sides and back. they fit all right and they are actually good covers. my installer did a good job and he said they were good covers for the price since most stock seats are in that configuration of vinyl and leather. i got 50 bucks off when i brought that to the guys attention. 300 + 75 shipping total. they are short on the sides of the back, actually shows padding. ill take pics and post them. btw, hello guys....im new.

old ones off, new ones on. i would have done them myself, but the last time i tried they didnt come out as perfect as i wanted them. besides, i really dont have the time or patience to mess with them. i took a few quick pictures but i dont know how to post them yet. they really are good covers, but not stock oem. i figured leather is a 1000 option on most cars so if i could get them for less than 500 installed it would be worth it. and honestly, it was....they came out good. but like i said, not full leather. i got black with grey stitching. the side bolsters seem a little more stiffer than stock, but that could have been my installer adding foam. the covers come with a foam backing like the stock ones and they fit really well. i really would reccommmend them as long as you are ok with them not being full leather. btw, they come from china.

cool. thks for the how to, that was a first. if you guys want more lemme know. been busy putting the interior back together, so ill post final pics later. i know it kinda sucks the covers dont go all the way down but this car isnt gonna be perfect no matter how much love (read money) i put in it. its not that bad with the seat back. i had cloth, so maybe if you had leather you wouldnt have this issue.

yhea, they are the ones from the original post. im gonna do something about the exposed foam, but im not concerned about it yet....so many other things to get done first. the way i do things is major stuff first, clean up later. otherwise id be stuck on every little problem until its fixed, im a bit of a perfectionist. the seats really do look good, mostly like stock even upon close inspection...above indicated problem aside of course....and i would reccommend them to anyone. the seller is really good and the product is worth the cost. my advice is to bid and not do the buy it now thing. also, dont outbid someone from this site. not many people bid on these, at least when i bid, and the first bid will most likely be the high bid. i just bid until i hit the reserve and waited. no one else outbid me and i won at 350. later 50 was refunded, i was given the option of a return, when i brought up the vinyl thing. either way, im pleased with the result and can't complain about anything. there were at least 3 others like mine when i bid and i watched 2 go before that without any bids, so i figured i was good to go without any competition. i'm normally a "buy it now" kinda guy as i dont have patience to wait for bidding to close. in this case it saved me 100 or so. changing the seats and carpet really made a difference. wish i had more luck with the headliner tho, that damn sunroof panel confused me good. i figured it wasnt worth the headache....at least not now.

Latest and greatest quote for full set in VINYL, just FYI.
(took ILuvMyCelica95 example and checked on a full set)

------------------------
My first email to them.
------------------------

Greetings,

I was just wondering what other options you have for a 1995 Toyota Celica. I don't have to get "real" leather but was looking for leather-esque material (vinyl etc..). Do you offer anything like that?

If so, how much do they go for. I'm sure the leather covers are very nice, just outside of my budget.

Any information you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

I ended up getting these for $325 + $75 shipping + $99 for the seat heater kit. I ordered them as black with blue stitching and perforated centers. I will take some pictures, but I'm going to have to do it with out taking the seat back off (Brackets are welded). I'll let everyone know how it goes with the seat heaters and everything.

^That sounds like a good deal. I emailed them to see if I placed a minimum order, if they'd sell wholesale to me. Here's their response:

QUOTE
we will offer you $390shiped.also we will offer you the item can be pure color or two tone color in balck, dark gray, gray, tan with free additonal charge. you can choose any of stitching color for free too. if you need other leather color(like red, green, blue....).$50 additonal charge for custom color option.

(minimum order amount is 10set)

- leather-seat

So if anyone's interested, this isn't an "official" group buy or anything, but if ten people are interested I'd be happy to broker this deal. I unfortunately can't afford them at this time, but maybe if enough time goes by as the list is built up, I can chime in! PM me if anyone's interested, and if so, we can move this portion of the thread to a new one in Buying/Selling
