I have been doing research on greddy emanage ultimate and blue systems for the motor i have, ill be upgrading turbo and was wondering why you guys chose the systems you have. do you really NEED a system such as emanage if you are not going to be seriously tuning it often? should i just go with a safc?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
cheers biggrin.gif

i plan on having a custom manifold to accomodate the garrett t4, (the old turbo and manifold were one peice), 3" downpipe back exaust, garrett intercooler (no internal upgrades)
I was thinking about adding better injectors not sure if the 550 will be enough. been knocking around ideas for engine management. i also am seriously considering a wideband fuel sensor,

My goal is mid 300's (350whp)

trying to get some feedback from everyone else to aid in the route i choose. i have a pretty good idea of what i want, just like seeing how everybody else got there wink.gif

Gen4.
550s are enough to support about 360hp worth of fuel, so you're fine there.
If I were you, I would just install the turbo and slowly turn up the boost on the dyno. Then you will know how much boost you can run before you need something to tune it with.

thats EXACTLY what i was thinking. i can buy one if/or when the power bug bites me in the ass. i will be wanting to keep an eye on the fuel so a wideband may be in order. what kind are you running lagos, i forgot

Because you have a gen4, there is no plug n play EMS available for now. You will need to do a lot of wiring (like I dit with my gen4 and my megasquirt).

Do something like lagos said. Stay with the stock ecu and look at your AFR on the dyno.

The AEM UEGO wideband AFR is really good. I have one and I love it. This is a must if you are doing any mods to your car.

would you say the greddy ebc is a good controller? i was talking to a guy whom used it for his supra 2jz swap (in nissan 240) he told me he was thinking about switching because it was giving him trouble. Personally i have heard good things about greddy when it comes to ebc's

People have had issues with the greddy profec b. Mostly because its so hard to use, and all of the instructions are in engrish.

If you want the best, get the blitz dual selnoid one.

Take some time to research this stuff and learn about it. Don't just buy random parts that people recommend if you don't understand what they are for.

Can you adjust AF ratio on the UEGO itself or do you need another unit to control your AFR.

Take some time to research this stuff and learn about it. Its not going to do you any good to buy something when you don't fully understand what its for or how it works. Hit up google and read up on it. It will benefit you a lot more then a yes/no answer.

I talked to the guy, and of course he said i would have to get a ems because the stock ecu cant be tuned and would forget whatever settings they put in while they are tuning. will talk to tweak.

I didnt start the thread, im not buying one. I am trying to use this thread to get some information. Easternpiro was asking about engine management units and several people started saying how much they like their UEGO... I was just trying to hop in while people were talking about them and ask a few questions. I checked AEMs website 2 days ago and it didnt give me all the info I was looking for. I just thought since a few of these guys said they had them, maybe one of them would jump on and explain it a little. First off, I'm not buying one because my car isnt even running yet. Secondly, believe me I do tons of research before I spend that kind of money..... with this swap going on I am out of money. BUT I will gladly spend a few hundred if it is a component that will help the engine.

no. The UEGO is just a wideband with a gauge. You would need some sort of safc or ems to adjust your afr.
