I am absolutely and unequivocally NOT taking sides. But I have opinions on this, so I'm sharing anyway.

I agree wholeheartedly with HKNBs opinion about closing that guy's FS thread w/the HID kits. I myself will buy a kit from Culp, being that he's reputable and established. But I think the option for the other guy to sell should still be available, and the judgment should be on the buyer. The Target vs. Walmart analogy was a good one. On the other hand, it wasn't missed by me either that rule 4 about posting useless posts was left out. I myself am guilty and have contributed to useless posts - but primarily in the Off Topic forum, where IMO they belong.

I gotta say honestly, I'll call BS when I see it - a few people on here know that about me by now. I see a lot of people on here b1tching about stuff that frankly, to me, compromises their own credibility with the incessant whining tone to their "complaints." If you have a beef with someone, direct it TO that person in a PM or something and try to resolve it that way. I think this goes for both sides, users and moderators. There have been some threads shut down on here that I personally don't agree with them being shut down either. This just may be one of them. But the bottom line is really just kinda "love it or leave it".

Anyway, right or wrong, I'm just calling it as I see it, and I realize that may not be the same way others see it.

Ive had both good and bad experiences with the mods.

They have been there to back me up and take action on things that I thought were inappropriate but there are times where I think that they have not acted properly. IE. I have written them with a complaint and will not get a response which I find very unprofessional for such a professional site. I also do not care for the smarta$$ remarks when a thread is closed. I feel that if they just locked it hten questions would arise so a simple answer should be given as to why its being closed such as copy and pasting a rule that it is going against then locking it. I also do not think that once its locked that another mod should be able to go in and say their .02 and then lock it again.

Everything has its pros and cons and with authority comes those who think they are also above the law. Oh well. Taking about a 6 month leave from here definitely let me let go of how thigns are ran on here. I appreciate the site for what it is - a group of people who have a whole hell of lot more information about 6gcs and are willing to share.

Since when do our "rules" deny the ability to share a different point of view. I can think of one thread where me and playr(dan) were having a conversation about something, someone made a comment and then the thread was closed

I think it's more when people start name calling and getting really deep into an argument that things get out of hand. That's when it gets closed.

oh, yeah I'll definately agree, some of the remarks being made before closure are out of line. But people need to learn to calm things down sometimes. Smart ass thread closure comments are rediculous. Not to mention that one dumbass makes a comment and everyone has their thread shut down. Such as SpeedFeens Army thread; or the origonal houston member's thread. Just because one person mentioned driveing fast down the street you closed that thread, while the rest of us were using it to rally up houston 6gc.net members.

I may be new to the 6gc.net, but i am not new to cars, not at all sir. I offer my help and advice to anyone who needs it, or wants it. I've even helped out alot of people in the short while i've been here, and i'm not going to "bow down" to anyone just because they have a spiffy title. You had my respect as a person that knew his X-sfte engines... As a moderator; i have nothing to say.

I am sure if u meet Manny ur gonna have a change of opinion...ask Manny himself we didnt get off on the right foot in the beginning his first words to me were your gonna blow your engine...I was like sure w/e and then guess what happen my engine blew...(this was an old car has nothing to do with any of the 6th gens) After I got to see the real Manny at a meet It took me no longer then 2 seconds to fall in love bc he is just an awesome person and you all have the wrong idea.

these 5 pages worth of bickering has NOTHING to do with what mods do to help you out off the site. nobody is bashing the mods personally.. this conversation has nothing to do with that.... i suggest you read from page 1 to fully understand what is going on here, and im not taking sides as well. Most of the threads in the OT section do deserve to get closed, like the "How did u get out of a ticket" garbage. HOWEVER there are many instances where threads get shut down just cuz 2 people are "debating" or arguing to make their points. Rather than tell them to calm down and edit the posts, they just make slick comments and just close down the thread. Many threads do deserve to get shut down without warning (the pointless cr*p), however many do not deserve to get shut down. That is the point. Nobody is bashing people here. NOT ONE. So read from page 1 before you make such comments.

I completely understand what everyone is talking about on the other hand I don't think you understand what I am saying..Presure2 posted a sticky about reporting post all I am saying is maybe ppl are actually following the rules and using it thus in return getting results. I understand post get closed and people aren't happy but maybe the mods are not completely to blame.

gee there you go, i thought this was a family oriented community. ok lets say your the parents, and we're the kids, you get mad at us and do unfair things such as saying you cant stay awake past 9 on a school day. of course some of us might obey that, maybe thats ok with younger kids, and thats like the rule, the rules havent been updated in years, so now the kids are teenagers in high school and the bedtime is still 9, and then they just so happen to stay awake past 9 and you yell at them and ground them, do you expect them to just say "yes sir" and go to bed? no. i think they would have argued and show how unreasonable that is for their age, they need to stay up longer since of homework and such, and by that the rules for the teen will be changed if the parent understands. having a family is all about teamwork and understanding, it cant be just one way, you need to argue against the opposing if you feel it is being runned unfairly such i am right now. yet you want to go the simple way and say to find another site, you wont even admit your faults i see you as being hardheaded

okay, i agree that some moderators do tend to close threads with a SmartAss remark included. Like he/she's trying to get the last laugh, and you just gotta take it or have your account deleted.

Yeah; this is a privately owned forum, but if your going to moderate, then you need to do it right. If you say this is a place to be a professional, then you need to moderate like one.

i find it amusing that 90% of the people who have a problem in this thread are new users, whove been here less than a year.

this crap comes up about once every 6 months...it always ends the same.

hmm always the new people? well how do you expect anything to grow WITHOUT new people, its like building a new country, but you dont want new people such as immigrants so how do you expect it to run? just have fun on the site till everyone grows old and leaves?

You all have no idea...where else do the mods gave a helping hand and drive 3 hrs or about an hour for jeff to help a member..you have no idea what goes on.

what u just said below doesn't make total sense...how do you no they are closing a thread because they personally feel that way...I have used the report a post and im sure others have to bc after using it I have seen action being used meaning since i followed the forum rules the mods respected me and closed the thread(I am sure I wasn't the only member to report tho)

Also Eric isn't crying about it so why should everyone else..let Eric fight his own battles and I am sure if he had a problem it was resolved over the phone.

I am sure if u meet Manny ur gonna have a change of opinion...ask Manny himself we didnt get off on the right foot in the beginning his first words to me were your gonna blow your engine...I was like sure w/e and then guess what happen my engine blew...(this was an old car has nothing to do with any of the 6th gens) After I got to see the real Manny at a meet It took me no longer then 2 seconds to fall in love bc he is just an awesome person and you all have the wrong idea.

i for one am happy with how this is run. the hid guy seems a bit shady, and the bumping is annoying. cant complain about that being closed. especially since he started selling the day he joined.
