When my engine's all built and running...I'd like to keep it cooler than the factory setup...I was thinking of getting a high-quality (like B-COOL) radiator and a lower temp. thermostat to ensure long life for my new engine. What do you guys suggest or is it not really a good idea at all for reasons I'm unaware of?

Engines have an ideal operating temp. You can't simply "make it colder" and expect it to perform or last longer. The ONLY time cooling should be considered is when you start over heating the motor, as in long races or HOT HOT humid track days. If you just drive around and think extra cooling = good... well... no...

optimal operating temp for our motors is gonna be between 190-210*F.
our cooling system is quite adequate at keeping the temp in that range, with a daily driver, even in heavy traffic.
if your having trouble with high temps, id look at things other than your radiator. (unless of course your road racing, which i dont think is the case here.)
that said, the all aluminum 2 row core KOYO radiator certainly looks awesome. haha.

I'm not having probs at all. I just want to get my future build the best cooling option it could have.

If I get a bigger more efficient radiator...wouldn't I technically be able to raise the temp a bit with a higher temp. thermostat for more accurate tuning??

cold engine more friction and hence more wear on moving parts biggrin.gif

Don't worry about a higher temp thermostat, as long as you're using the stock therm, if the rad cools too much the therm will close, allowing the engine to run at optimal temp.

IMO for most of you the biggest [and only really] advantage to an aluminum radiator is getting rid of the plastic end tanks.

and it looks cool tongue.gif I had a koyo radiator in for a while but I ended up selling it because it made no difference to my engine and took up some of my much needed engine bay space.
