4.19.08 SoCal meet at Marco's, SoCal Cruise Options

Alright, the Penske Toyota meet schedule on this date was cancled. Instead we will be meeting at Marco's house and cruise around from there. We will take pictures and what not, but the important part is to meet at Marco's house on 4.19.08 @ 10am. We will figure out what to do from there, but so far the plan is to eat at a buffet place, then go cruising around for cute girls (ok, maybe just me) and then we will go to Scandia. What is Scandia you ask? According to Marco...

Scandia - "Scandia is a Mini-theme park where you pay a low cost in the entrance then you can ride the rides all day!!! fee is like 14 bucks the last time i want there...... its pretty chill there and we can do some pic taking as well they got food and arcades as well...oh.... and dont forget the go-carts!!!! its also free all day, as long you pay the entrance fee."

When: April 19th, 2008 @ 10am. Will be departing @ 11am.

The right front needs to be changed as it has been wearing the tire on that side more. We are struggling to find any SoCal members these days. Everybody is either moving or selling their Celicas.
Girls typically don't buy 6gcs or cars in general to mod them. They buy them because they are "cute". I see lot's of girls who drive them, but they want nothing to do with this forum. I don't plan on this being a big gathering either. I personally rather attend a small get together. I think I'm falling out of the whole meet thing, and want to hang out with friends, not cars.

Speaking of interiors, Marco, yours is going under a complete makeover, but I forgot to order all the switches so we'll have to go buy some on Saturday. But as for everything else, I think we are all set. I will want to buy some wiring tomorrow or saturday . I would like to get some 16 gauge and some fuses possibly. well, probably gonna subtly paint my dash pieces, leather my middle console area, leather some other stuff up, and increase the lighting inside of the dash as well as the dome light. if i drop something in my car in the middle of the night i have to look at the black hole of my leather seats/floor and won't find what i'm looking for :\ i just saw a writeup in eurotuner about replacing the dome/accessory lights with bright LEDs. made a world of a difference inside

also, i gotta fix my hatch cuz i took off my spoiler and i gotta fill/sand it down n smooth it out cuz the guy before me didn't buy a decent mounting kit with the spoiler and therefore pretty much effed up the trunk. maybe i'll just put my spoiler back on to temporarily cover up the damages..but it looks so nice without one

i still need to get that black hood from craig..been laggin on that too.

derrick do you know if the toyota dealerships will beat online prices for OEM toyota parts? i remember somebody saying that they did, however i think he was in canada :\

I think we can price match the part at Longo Toyota. I remember a guy coming in and asking about that. I think they need a printed reciet or quote or something like that so that they can price match it. With my discount I can usually get parts for cheaper than the online price, but only for OEM parts, not TRD parts. TRD parts are usually exspensive anywhere.

Yes, you should definatly come out and visit . We will fly you out here, but unfortunatly, your Celica will have to stay on the island . (unless you want to ship it out here too). You know, I would really really really like to go to Hawaii some day. Ofcourse not just for the Celica meets, but it seems like a really great place to live. About scheduling the meets, I know what you mean . Hmm so far no updates on the 6gc, just trying to make it track standards, and for that to be done, I need to get a roll caged welded in just because I'm a convertible. How lame is that. The minimal requirement is the 4 point cage. I'm going to put the 4 point cage with a harness bar, just because I will still be driving the car on the street. I'm going to need to take the Lambo doors off because it could be a track safety issue when competing in events. There's really no rule about it, but it's just for personal reasons. Hmm.. other than that, my body shop guy has been hiding so I haven't been able to talk to him about the body repairs and paint job yet. My Spoiler is starting to annoy me ever since Marco said something about it. So I will probably take that off when I have time to make a custom one. And.. Curren tails are in my trunk, just waiting for the car to be painted first. And... yeah, I think that's about everything I'm doing before I move. Whatever I don't use on my car will go to waste basically. And... I'm taking my car to get smog checked tomorrow . Early in the morning, then some family stuff, and then some Marco stuff. Also... I think there's one more major thing I'm doing to my car, but I don't recall right now... Hmmm oh well, I'll let you know when it's all done . Sleepy time for Derrick.

It's good, but It should be gone within the next month. It's an amazing car, but it's just too amazing as is and has too much potential. I just don't have the same inspiration to work on it as I have with my Celica. The Celica is the underdog, it's different than what all the other guys in magazines are doing. With the s2000, I would have to do SOOOO much to it just to be noticed or different, but in the end it will just still be just another s2000 ya know? well, the s2k is a sick car. gotta love that high rev however, i agree with you. i see too many s2ks, evos, rx7s and etc around and the only time i actually double take is when they look as stock as possible with maybe, MAYBE better rollers. the evos with ARC on everything from their intercooler to engine bling is commonplace. i like the cars that make you wonder 'what does that guy have under that hood?'

well, with one less car, you can focus on the celi a lot more

haha it's cool. This seems to me, to be more of a hang out and chill meet rather than a Celica meet. So it doesn't matter too much. You can bring as many people as you would like .

Hey Marco, the meet that was originally on the 26th is completely cancled and not resheduled. The admin of that forum decided that he no longer has time to update the site and will be shutting it down sooner or later. So we will have to find something else to do, such as turbo charging as we discussed .

I looked up Scandia and found three in Cali, I am assuming its not the one in Sacramento. Lol.

I dunno about commuting for meets though. My car has got a ****load of miles on it as it is. So until I swap, I won't be able to travel too far for meets.

I am glad to know that there are quite a few so cal people here on the forums. Because I am going to need lots of help. Haha. =)

Wow first post and it's in the meet section . Glad you could attend last minute. So you have a 5-speed 95 GT hatchback in black huh? I heard you say something about a swap? I see you've been doing some research . How many miles do you got on your engine right now? It must be a lot for you to start worrying about it haha. Mine should be at 100,000 on the day of the meet. Right now I'm at 99,890. Ok well anyways, I will see you in a few days .

I haven't been researching as much as I should. The first thing I did was walk into Super Autobacs and say, "I have never worked on a car before. I want to learn. I have a Celica. What should I do?" They told me to slap a turbo on it, until I told them that my car was pushing 170k miles.Then they said I was going to have to swap it out. After doing the little research I have done, I feel like that would be better anyhow. Right now they are doing some research for me to try and find something suitable for what I want for me car.

I don't have anything set in stone, so I have plenty of time to brainstorm still. I am hoping to get some good ideas from everyone at the meet.

Not to mention, at the momment I owe quite a bit of money. So I won't be able to pay for any of what I want to do for a couple months. But if I have a plan and know exactly what I want to do, things will go smooth and fast and I will have my car done quick. Hopefully it'll ride quick too.

I am going to be bringing a friend. She loves cars, but is knewer to actually working on them than I am. It'll be a good learning experience for the both of us.

Can't wait to meet you all and such. =)

Just kidding . Meet is still 100% going on . I just smog tested my car and it failed again hahaha. My car is total weaksauce . It's going to the meet tomorrow either way so hurray I'm excited! I gotta remember to wash my car tonight then even though it looks like crap either way .

My family (mostly the guys) is going out of a fishing trip on a boat tomorrow. I originally wasn't going to go, but they (my cousin and step-brother) talked me into it. We only do this trip once a year and I never go.

Hopefully we can I can come to the next me. I wish I could do both. And perhaps I can just meet up with you guys after the boat comes back in.

Haha I kinda washed my car. I would have done a really good job, but I was being rushed and the Director of Service at Lexus wasn't leaving, so I was like "arrrg! Go home already so that I can wash my car " I didn't tell her that, so I wiped my car down with a towel, it's not a good wash. Marco, you need to call me to wake me up. I know I need to wake up early, but I just drank a bunch of coffee so I'm not tired at all :x. When you call me, remind me what I need to bring. Which will most likely just be a camera, and.. yeah, that should be all. I didn't promise anyone anything did I? Marco knows I always forget important stuff because I have a bad memory haha. Rotors are SUPER easy! I can do them with a blindfold on. Seriously, I can. No joke .
