For an MR2 turbo? Its hard letting go a Celica you've put work into, but you can't really go wrong with getting an MR2 turbo in place of the Celica. Tough call. I'd probably go for the MR2 though.

one word that would make me sell the celi : Turbo

that's not the issue. he has a 5sfte set up. it's the RWD Turbo that's turning him to the dark side. that is a tough decision though. i do love the mr2 but the lack of space is a killer. even though there isn't ever anyone in my backs seats (and i mean ever!!!) it's still nice to have more space. the MR2 is a pretty quick little car but still.

RWD+turbo=good
RWD+Snow=bad
tough call.

if you lived somewhere that snows maybe an inch a year i would say go for it. otherwise i would say no unless you have a 2nd car for a winter beater like a little 4x4 pickup (that's what i'm looking for smile.gif early 90's toyota 4x4 FTW)

here's the thing sammie, just think about it, if he sells the celi you get all his goodies right? always look on the bright side of life biggrin.gif

FF + turbo + gt4 conversion + 4 seater = Will's celica
MR + turbo + more aerodynamic + much lighter + 2 seater + most likely more insurance = MR2

....

I really don't want to do it, but I just feel stressed with my car. Its been sitting for like ever and I need to invest more money into body work and my motor. I can easily spend another 3000 on my car and have it like I've always dreamed of, but I've always wanted an mr2 turbo too. We'll see what happens.

Are you going to be going into a stock mr2t? Are you going to want to spend that same 3000 (you would use to finish the celi) to upgrade the mr2?

if you can buy a mr2t for what you can sell your celica for then do it. get a good set of winter rubbers and enjoy the snow

Foo, I was the same way, but the Celica? Dude, you get a backseat! And although the mr2 does look good, it is itty bitty tiny. I dunno about you, but I have gained massive weight dude. My celica is small enough as it is. You made friends with all of us, you can't just leave. GT4! How many GT4's are there in the USA? HM?! I dunno, mr2 does look good, I won't lie. But GT4 maaaaaaaaaaaaan. Anyways, if you are leaving us, you take down my myspace and keep in touch. But I would really hate to see you go.

Exactly ^. But I did find one for around 4 grand out of state and I'm willing to pick her up.

Well I found a guy who can do my paint job for a really good deal. Nothing out of his backyard or anything. And the rest of the money will be used to builded the motor to handle more than avergae boost. Like rebuilding the head with a port and polish job done to it. And regrinding the crank to work with the 3s rods. Thats what the 3 thousand will go to.

I just never thought this project would last this long. And it just sucks just having the car sit there waiting for a nice day to pull the motor to build it. The paint, I'm in no rush to do. Its the motor I want built.

Pull the motor, buy a cheap used engine and drop that in there while you build up your other one.

Unless you both (and you know who I mean) make 75K$+ a year, don't do it. Save your pennies. You have a great car in the driveway already. Take a poll to see who would like a GT4 replica with a 5fste. I KNOW I WOULD!!! Spend some of your hard earned cash on the Celica. tjblacross and celiracer18 said it best: be patient!!

Sounds like a bad case of spring fever!!

Good to see you've decided to keep the celi. I think it's definately hard to break away from these cars, they're just awesome smile.gif...Lots of people that do move on seem to want to go back to the 6gc after only a sort amount of time...too nice of a car to resist.

Just remember the white MR2 we saw at Hypertek........it's good to own one, but with turbo cars it's first priority to maintain it everyday. It's either a hoddy for cars or a living for cars and a broke ass college student cannot afford an old turbo car to break down on him every other month. Old turbo cars tends to break down anyways even if you go the MR2-T route.

So I say invest your money into my fundraiser for my new Skyline GTR R35.......hahahaha!

Your car, your problems, your call. I'd say go with a car that won't go down on you.

i had the same idea in mind about getting an mr2 since my celi hasnt been working but then i thought about it and realized that there isnt many celis out there, let alone boosted ones. Like everyone else says projects dont come over night they take time and sometimes longer than others, not all of us are lucky enough to dish out money to put in our cars. your a college student rite? me 2 and it dosent make it any easier not even 4 me that im at an automotive skool.
