Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the lake, From the sky. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh. Go to sleep, peaceful sleep, May the soldier or sailor, God keep. On the land or the deep, Safe in sleep. Love, good night, Must thou go, When the day, And the night Need thee so? All is well. Speedeth all To their rest. Fades the light; And afar Goeth day, And the stars Shineth bright, Fare thee well; Day has gone, Night is on. Thanks and praise, For our days, 'Neath the sun, Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky, As we go, This we know, God is nigh. -------------------- ![]() |

my response will make me sound like a prick but i really dont care, but that's what happens in wars. it sux and i feel for his family but why does the news/media focus on one person like this? i dont understand when they report one incident when sh** like this happens every day. its the harsh reality of wars. this guy isnt any more special than anybody else overseas so to me, its ignorant to have these kinda stories on the news. im sure if u go to any military hospital in iraq u will see many other people like this and its tragic.

Humor at ones expense is when someone slips on the ice and you laugh, or gets hit in the head with a basketball and falls over. Someone dying isn't humor, and any crap about you have to laugh at life will illustrate the lack of a clue you really have. I'll laugh at almost anything, and am normally a far from serious person. Someone dying is one of the few times when you should be serious, or at least contain your humor [in the context you used it]. How much time do you need to think about that? Umm shogunkid I think if you go up and read alltracmans first few lines where he writes

im with Shogun on this one. Sorry to see the guy go, but people only feel sorry for the ones that show up on TV. Feel for them all not just him. Im glad that he was able to get through what happen to him and do something good with what he had left of his life. But feel for them all, alive or dead, not just him.

Never Did I say I didn't feel for them all...This was posted so I showed respect...so am i suppose to show disrespect for this bc not every person is posted up here?
Everyone has there views and this is a touchy subject but it would be hard for me to every say that I didn't really care when this poor man lost his life serving his country....sure there are so many others and I pray for them just as much as this man as I think we all should. Jeremy your a good friend of mine and u have been in the war witnessed it all first hand so maybe we should take a second and thank you for what you did for this country. If you don't agree with this lets so some respect for someone who is part of our community since he is a part of all of us. I guess my whole point is, with me, I see no point in exceptions. Exceptions are like excuses, and I see things black and white. Either are or not. So if I make a joke and laugh, yet you do not find it funny, then that is fine. If you are still on this site, I shall let you know when either one dies, I think a good joke would cheer me up. As I did not joke about the man dying, but simply said a joke (But I did rescue a fish from drowning!!!!) And sorry if I am coming off like an ass. Oh, and I agree with Shogun which is the spark of my first comment. I feel the same way. He originally was in the news because he survived burns so bad he wasn't expected to live. That is NOT what most of the military in Iraq is doing or has done. Most haven't even been injured, and Merlins story isn't about his hardships in Iraq. That sucks, but it's nothing compared to his injuries. I would MUCH rather spend 2 years away from my family and miss my childrens' birth than be burned like he was. I would also take being shot almost anywhere, or even losing a limb to what he was stuck with. You didn't forget, you never had a clue. Before mature people consider your opinion important you need to lose the college kid [have you gotten that far?] mentality and actually think your prejudices through. Not because you disagree with me, but the way you disagree. It shows you don't understand what you're talking about yet. -------------------- ![]() |

**** it all. america is ignorant. everything done overseas has no direct effect on any other american besides the ones dying there. we dont see any progress. only the bs that people put on the bias media that make us feel sorry about these people who are giving up their lives to "protect our freedoms"
people die everyday around the world. making Marines seem more important is ignorant. is their life worth more than those who die without having to be shot/burned/maimed? were all human. i've experienced a buncha stuff in regards to death/illness and what do i get? huh? what makes a marines life more important than my mom's or my grandfather's? my grandfather was a vet, passed away, what the **** did my grandma get? a dumbass american flag. -------------------- ![]() Pandelica 2.0 in progress. |

Alright lets all disrespect the armed forces. This thread was to show some respect to a man who suffered and made good out of it. I believe it was taking to far...please start a new thread about our government bc thats not what this one was suppose to be about.
The funny thing is people are saying there points and arguing with someone who was a Marine who understands the war more than any of us...unless you have been there yourself....I can understand if Jeremy was like I find this thread disrespectful bc you don't understand what happens overseas..but Jeremy is defending this poor guy...That makes me think most of u just "hate" America and will just fight about anything..I guess you just need to experience more to understand. Hey we all have our views I guess but cant we find a different place to discuss them...It saddens me to read it here. I am sorry to everyone who lost someone believe me I have lost someone close to me to...If I every read a thread like this about the person I lost I would be a mess.....just think of his family..think of going online and reading all this about someone close to you how would you feel now? You know I thought about posting up a poem for the person I lost..It was the anniversary a few months ago...Now I thank God I didn't bc it would have made me sick if anyone showed disrespect. some of you fckin people are unreal...the thread was to respect the man who basically died to defend your ass whos sittin on the computer not doin **** and belittling others that are making a difference...its f*ckin pathetic that you (shogunwhatever) and whoever else who has a problem with the post would even bother saying s*it like that...just dont talk at all...your better off not saying anything then pissing off me, the 6gc comunity or 90% of the US citizens that respect the US armed forces...of course it's war and stuff like this happens all the time...thanks for pointin out the obvious jackass...and on another note..yes i do agree with the statement that the news sucks and most of the time its "bad news" but its reality....dont disrespect people who risk their lives every single day so you can continue to sit on your ass infront of your computer and do nothing....some of you assholes wouldnt last 10 minutes over there...and if anyone has a problem with this post they can come see me personally...i apoligize if im "breaking the rules of the forum here" but it gets out of hand....and a pat on the back to you griffgirl for bringing this to our attention....my prayers go out to him and his family along with friends that i know personally who are serving/will be serving very shortly

Defending the country from what exactly? "*Terrorists" or Gas Prices? 2. Does anyone actually and can honestly swear to God they enlist to "Defend the Country"? *A term used for media scare (ask yourself how easy is it to walk into a public area and waste loads of people and ask how our tax dollars went to preventing that) Again, I am sorry. We were douches and Shannon pretty much laid the "Owned" down with what she said (at least I believe so). Shannon, I am sorry if I came off like an ass. I am also sorry I posted this reply but guy did go a little overboard targeting Shogun and calling him that. I just want to know what else he thinks, he is doing a great job of that. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

Wow. I had no idea. Some of you really suck.
I saw this story, and it touched me because this guy stands for so much - he represents every single person who has VOLUNTEERED for this stupid ass bull**** of a lie war. He overcame TREMENDOUS obstacles, and turned it into something positive that will change the lives of many. This guy is a reminder that we should respect and remember EVERY person in the armed forces, whether they get injured or not, who is willing to stand up for and die for this country, despite its leadership for that matter! This man represents strength of character in the face of adversity - and pain - and suffering, tremendous pain and suffering. I didn't mean to spark such a debate, but I'm not apologizing for posting up the link to the story. He deserves recognition and respect for the life he lead, a moment of reflection from strangers for the void he's undoubtedly left behind in his passing, and praise for starting something bigger than himself. It's a story that to me, is a reminder that all of those people who DON'T get the recognition of news stories deserve to have some positive energy put out into the universe by us. We may not hear about every single one of them, but it doesn't mean they aren't being thought of or praised and respected in some other way. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm sorry I am also at fault but I gotta report this post. I am sorry it got taking way to far all that matters to me right now is that I have respect for this man and I feel for his family what the rest of you feel and think I am sorry but it doesn't matter it wont change how I feel.
I am very sensitive so story's like these get to me...I guess the internet really sets in how different people can be and how insensitive some of us are. I have said my peace and want no hard feelings we really all are here for one reason and one reason alone so lets just get back to the one thing that brings us all to 6gc...THE CELICA....I hope one day 6gc members can post something they hold close to there heart without having to be worried about being bashed. Here is to many many more closed threads....If you have anything left to say I would say it before tomorrow bc by then I will assume this once heart warming thread will be closed...as for the fighting I think AIM is the best choice. -------------------- |

Ok, this is a tough subject, for some more than others. It seems to have gone past the healthy debate stage now.
