Hours Awake Options

Kinda a stupid post, but over the last 2 days (Friday into Early Sunday morning) i have been up for 42hours straight.


Whats your longest?

I was up for about 60 hours straight last quarter. I had 3 finals in a 2 day span so I pulled 2 all-niters and had to go to work right after my last final. I don't recommend it

my buddy stayed up for 4 and a half days trying to break the record of like 11 lol. But he passed out one day due to too much drinking.

I never actually tried. I only got to 40 hours mainly because i couldn't sleep... lol Maybe this summer i'll try and see how long i can go. I got another one for you guys though, how long have you slept? I've gotten 20 hours.

ive acctually slept for almost 24. it was after my 3 days of staying awake. i fell asleep around 7pm on a saturday and i woke up around 7pm or so thinking that i only slept for like 10 minutes. but then when i got up i went into teh kitchen and my mom told me it was sunday hahaha

4 days in a row..i suffered from insomnia when i was younger. I went to some sleep clinic, they put me to sleep, did somethin and now i dont wanna wake up ever..lol

Did you guys heard about that kid somewhere in the states who has never slept?...ever!...hes like 3 or 4 or somethin and has never slept a day in his life.

im so used to staying up sleeping is a hastle....
idk how many days i can go tho but last i can remember was a 9 day drinking binge but i had sleep just woke up drunk and kept drinkin, than didnt sleep for 5 days after that...... yep skittles again....

their just sooooo sugary.....

and yes, i know ur asking yourself this..... i do have insomnia now....
staying asleep..... hmm coma for 3 and a half days.... and one long crazy ass dream!

when my moms passed away, girlfriend n i were havin problems, i didnt sleep for a good 4 days. i remember trying to fall asleep while reading about hellenic greece but it wouldnt work and then i tried listening to some sleepy r&b n that didnt work and then i tried watching the crap on mtv and vh1 and it didnt work. i just sat n played that guitar. next thing i knew there was the morning wakeup on vh1 or mtv i dun remember, and there were people getting ready for class..it happened a lot and when i realized i didnt really sleep too much i would just shower around 3am and then get dressed for class with my backpack on and just sit there watching tv, doing pushups, working out, anything to try and make me sleep. even running around campus didnt do anything for me. hell, listening to my prof about fluid dynamics didnt get me sleepy.

its a horrible thing.

In Iraq after we got mortared I stayed awake for close to 5 days. All I remember is that it was during my 4th day that I got to the point that nothing was keeping me awake anymore.

mass same for me 5 days in iraq. the next day i actually slept through a firefight when my convoy got attacked. I was so pissed when i woke up and found out lol. ok to start a new thread whats the longest you ever been without a shower....you dont want to hear my answer becuase of iraq lol

I can relate to those of you with insomnia, yes it sucks. i had it the worst for three years doing school. i would stay up for 5 days monday through friday, then sleep saturday till mid afternoon sunday.. EVERY WEEK. people wouldnt know i wasnt sleeping, i was still functional, but you feel draggy on the inside (plus glasses hide bags under the eyes.)

It wasn't that i wanted to be up doing something. I just couldnt fall asleep. I tried excercising before bed, reading, listening to music, lights on/off. nothing ever worked. Most often i would lay in bed until everyone would fall asleep then i would get out of bed and start doing stuff. cleaning quietly, watching tv, reading whatever informative literature i could get my hands on: newspapers, research papers and articles, "introduction to" books on any subject. boring stuff. or sit in the dark for hours then repeat the day shedule. and those of you who have stayed up for days know that the idea of "yesterday" or "tomorrow" was always a funny thing when mentioned. people will chronical events with number of nights/days or times slept in between. for me atleast it was hard to relate immediatley when i was thinking in hours, versus days.

i eventually got over it with the help of sleep aid prescriptions, then went downhill with a need/addicition of the medication.
but im better now thankfully, lack of sleep really does take a nasty toll on your body. i still can stay up thirty hours without thinking about it. but i can go to sleep now if i get in bed and relax. 5.5 hours a night no more no less and im tip top.

mmm that shower one souinds fun...
i was a river guide in costa rica while i was down there and got invited on an excursion in peru for a month and a half... we were on the river for 2 straight weeks then climbed up a rockface to the begining of the trail, then hiked for another 2 weeks straight through indigenous tribes, than another 2 weeks of river rafting.... everything on our backs but we picked up weekly food at checkpoints which were dropped at the tribes by truck.... so if u add all that up, a month and a half of no showering, lots of hiking and idigenous food...... ohh and not many leaves grow up at 15 thousand feet so u learn to wipe with rocks.... ouch......

yes that last part was unnessicary but i think it might add to the stink....

almost got me...when fighting started in early 03...my platoon went 57 days without showers. We couldnt even wash stuff becuse we had to conserve bottle water to drink. Their were a couple times we used local wells to wash cammies and dipped in the eurphrates river (but that river is nasty). Finally got a shower we got rotated of the front.

my buddy lcpl stanley was a lil bit on the big side. One day he took of his sock and let it go in the wind,...when the sock hit the ground it retained the sock shape and did not collaspe down. It was so stiff and nasty lol we ended up burning it lol.

but seriosuly after 20 days or so you dont realize you stink lol

i shower 2 to 3 times a day now lol
