Well I lived in NYC for 6 yrs and believe me I do drive the car whenever I can. I do 2kkm each month which comes out to roughly 1,4k miles even though polish roads suck monkey ass. My work commute is 50% car and 50% subway. I like to drive on the weekends. In NYC i was not doing much more driving.
For US standards Celica is an ECONOMY car whereas in Poland not really....

here its about $1.24ish/L, so about $4.69 a gallon. and thats for 87 octane. It was 1.40/L for 91 octane the otherday when i filled up the SIR down in Windsor. I feel bad for my buddy though, he needs to fill up on 94 octane only for his SRT4, costs him $113 to fill.

$3.99 low
$4.17 Plus
$4.49 Supreme

(At Chevron in Bakersfield) I only put in Chevron gas (plus there were gas at the cheap stations that tainted cars and making them break down, once again, you get what you pay for).

I found a Chevron by my house though that is $3.99 for plus! WOOO! still sucks that prices are going up though.

Here in New Zealand its NZ$1.969 L for 91, NZ$2.019 for 95 and I do not want to think what 98 is. Thats at the moment. Seems like we get 5-10c increases every week. So Yeah. I thinks thats about NZ$8 per gallon. I would love to be still paying even $1.50 per L which is probably about what you guys pay after converting.

Here in the UK in my local area, which is the south east of England (near London Gatwick Airport)

1 gallon = 4.54 litres.

Super unleaded (99RON) is at it's most expensive in my area at £1.25 per litre, so multiply that by 4.54 = £5.67 per gallon, which over here would be $11.22 per gallon mad.gif

Now thats expensive

owned.gif by the bloody government frown.gif

Don't complain about fuel prices. You guys got it cheap man biggrin.gif

We couldn't beleive how little it cost to fill up a V6 Ford Fusion when we were on vacation in florida in March. Can I come & live in the States? It sucks big time over here kindasad.gif

x2. my wife got mad at me when i told her i was buying a bike. She still thinks it is a really bad idea because of the danger with them. But the thing is this isnt going to get better, its going to get worse. gas bill will be cut in half on a bike going back and forth to work. i spend $50 a week in gas to go about 72 miles every day (most of it Highway). a bike getting like 40 mpg will be so much cheaper.

its $3.95 here for Super. looks to hit $4.50 by Xmas. A friend of mine told me that he watched this news article on TV. The reporter was showing how in Saudi Arabia (i believe that is where this is) over a dune there is a Ski resort in the desert that the government just finished. lifts, snow, the whole nine yards. Its like 150 degrees out there and they are continuously making ice for this resort so people can ski. WE paid for that. Anyone know how much gas is in Iraq? like 45 cents! a barrel of oil costs us over $100 now.

Im really content with standing back and letting this world destroy itself.

Havok, yeah i know the ski resort your talking about its in Dubai, its really something. Last time i checked on oil prices were getting them for around $136 a barrel, oh yeah its gonna get worse, looking to hit $150 a barrel around fall before end of year.

On gas prices here though, it was around 3.75 few days ago. dont know what it is now. ive seen it jump .20 in 2 days so who knows. but thats the bricks.
On the topic of filling up though thats another subject entirely.. for work i can put in $60-$100 a day depeding how many jobs there are, yes its a truck but it still gets 22mpg on average. frown.gif
The sad thing is we have several companies (oil companys no less) attempting to start initiatives/projects that would consideribly drop the price of oil per barrel here nationaly but are being shot down by congress. Buth thats a thread of its own..

Anways has anyone heard of the gentleman that invented a water welder that is able to reach temperatures formerly unobtainable by gas welders? It can heat/cut through materials in a fraction of the time of conventional tools? Well anyways he adapted the technology to one of his vehicles and now can travel 100 miles on 4oz of hydrogen. he uses it daily and is set to be widespread technology by 2013 and supposedly be ready to begin production on a widescale. (in case your wondering it would be about a $2 fill up.)

The $11.22 a gallon isn't totally... fair you would have to subtract the taxes that each government adds to a gallon of gas..

Anyway, here in the motor city, its $4.14 for a gallon of regular, thank you, Mr. Bush. Oh and a big shout out to Exxon, Texaco, et all for posting record profits in the 8 Billion dollar range each QUARTER <shudders>

(in case your wondering it would be about a $2 fill up.)

Can it be converted to cars that are on the road right now? like could we make this work with our celis?

I was thinking about any differences between a US gallon & a UK gallon when I was replying. Stupid isn't it, that a gallon in one country is different to a gallon in another country kindasad.gif

Anyway, petrol over here in the UK is stupidly expensive mad.gif

last i checked NOVA was 4.09 for premium on average, probably will go higher...thats like umm ~$15.50 per tank of gas frown.gif

WAIT!!

you pay $15.50 USD for a full tank?!?!

or another currency?

Bike wink.gif

x2. my wife got mad at me when i told her i was buying a bike.

Im really content with standing back and letting this world destroy itself.

laugh.gif Yup I ride a bike cause it > riding a car....190 miles to a 4 - 4.5 gallon tank biggrin.gif Petrol cost me $4.20 this weekend, $16.40 was the last fill up....when i originally purchased in 06' i was paying $9.00 a tank frown.gif

Why are you buying medium grade? You don't get any performance increase out of it, it doesn't increase your mileage (I've compared... nada). I realize the difference in cost on a tank is probably about two or three dollars, but those few bucks add up.

True this. But i go with medium because of the fact that i've got some distance on that motor, and it's best that i didnt put in something that wont burn as well as i'd like. Sure i dont get any performance out of it, but it' burns cleaner and i need my engine as clean as possible... and i'm soon to have to put in the expensive frown.gif

Maybe you should read Coomers off topic rules:

QUOTE
1. Try to keep your posts clean. These forums, like the rest of the site, are designed to be a family-safe environment, and that means that you must watch your use of obscenities. This also means not attacking others in your posts. Try to be friendly, especially to newbies, and treat others how you want to be treated.

2. Don't post pornography, spam, racist material, or anything illegal. These things will not be tolerated, and will get you banned from the forums.

3. For sale posts are not allowed in this forum. If you want to sell something not related to the sixth generation Celica, you will need to do it elsewhere, and not on this site.

4. Please refrain from posting pointless posts, such as posts that are just smilies or posts that say stuff like "I'm with stupid" or "Page 2 Owned!"). This includes sarcastic posts about making fun of someone's car, or playful arguing with one another in a thread. These posts simply take over threads and turn them into useless garbage.

Off Topic just means the topics are non Celica related.

Not Just write any old crap.

That's what IM is for smile.gif

Just running the site the way Coomer wants it to be run smile.gif

I know and I'm not on to you about it - it just seems silly [even just in the nomenclature]. BTW - I appreciate your moderate moderation - hope you know I'm not trying to give you any BS.

Back on topic:
i hate the news - anybody know if it's currently going up or back down? I need more gas [The 3S is a little piggy - damn - then again if my right leg would cooperate and keep it out of boost sometimes... Boost is not necessary for grocery shopping rolleyes.gif ]

wouldn't know, I hardly ever go to bars (mostly b/c they are more expensive tongue.gif) Plus, you have more of a choice w/ the bar instance. Gotta love the liquer store.

I drink WAY less beer than my car does gas! Plus, who's paying that much for a beer at a bar? A cocktail is five-ish...

Anyway, 4.19 today for 87. Blah. One of my coworkers (he's from Libya) was telling me that in Libya last summer, he payed TWELVE CENTS A LITER for gas. And that the gas there is so pure that it lasts longer and you get better mileage. When he went, he bought a Ford Windstar off eBay and had it shipped to Libya so he could drive it while he was there for 2 months, and then sell it when it was time to come home.

TWELVE CENTS A LITER!!! That amounts to a little less than a dollar a gallon. And it's NOT because of the exchange rate or the dollar being weak. It's because they have SO much oil there that it's cheap as hell!
