ok well i've got squealing going on. The problem is they squeal when I'm not breaking, and as soon as I tap or use the brakes, the squealing stops. Everyone else that talks about brake squeal says it happens when they use the brakes. Is this the brakes warning me that I need to replace them because they're getting worn?
Thanks,
Trav

this could be in "maintenance"...

anywho! does it constantly squeak or is it an "on -and-off" thing?

your best bet might be to do a visual inspection of your brakes and check the wear on your pads. If its uneven there is a good chance you have a warped rotor or frozen caliper pin

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?

i had a similar prob a long time ago that drove me nuts..i thought it was the rotors, changed those, then the pads, and still annoyed me...found out the bearing went bad., new bearing, no more noise

well I dont' have the equipment to check the rotors condition (is it expensive? maybe I should get one) but I plan on taking a look at the brakes and maybe taking my rotors to a shop to get leveled if I replace the pads. What exactly is the bearing you're talking about and wheres it located? thanks,
Travis

Most likely either a pad shim or one of the "fit clips" that the pads slide in is loose and wiggling.
Or possibly the pad itself.
Once you put pressure on it, it can't move.

Mine squeal when i lightly apply the brake. Its especially worse when its hot out.
I know I'm missing the anti rattle springs, and i THINK there is supposed to be an extra set of shims on there, besides the ones that just come with the pads, right?
