Just checking but are there any wiper blade upgrades for our cars? Something more streamlined like the newer models? kindasad.gif

Wiper Blade upgrades? Na, they're pretty disposable.

Although RainX brand combined with RainX Glass treatment is FTW biggrin.gif

It's hard to get too excited about wiper blades but they really are good.

Really clean looking without all the metalwork.

Yeah, they're usually called fusion or flat blades.

The rainX version of these are now available at all NTB's if you have them in your area. Expect to spend $75 for a hatchback. Still considering it myself.

Notice I said hatchback [3 required - I can't stand mismatched stuff on my car] and rainX. You've priced their regular style replacements and you think $25ea is crazy? Also remember these were from high priced NTB as well.
RainX's infomercial was selling them for $20/ea before they came out officially so that all sounds right.

I buy my RainX's for bout $11-12 @ O'Riley in Katy. I know you need a 3rd wiper too, and NTB is WAY over priced. I'm gunna check that Pep-Boys on 610 @ Ella Northside. I bet they'd have em, but cheaper than NTB. They got everything at that Pep-boys. biggrin.gif

Just asked her and she said they were from Direct Tire and were less than $60 for the pair... they were Rain X Fusion wipers - the flat blade type.

That was the off the TV presale they were doing right? They are more expensive now. Only place I can find them is NTB and even with my discount they are $75 for 3.
How do they last anyway? I love rainX wipers but they start to suck quicker than the walmart brand. I thought it might be my car but my Mom has the same problem on her Crustang.
If these are gonna be like all their other products and work phenomonally for 2 weeks and then start leaving streaks they can fcukin keep em. This may be the one time I've ever used the satisfaction gauranteed or your money back thing - I'm tired of overpaying for bad results [But man those first few weeks are crystal boy].

Holy crap! 4 years! OMFG! I'm lucky to get a full rain season on a pair of blades! Granted that's with daily or near-daily use for about 7 months, but still. Wow.

Check out the RainX site - they have an offer for some free stuff when you order, and they have a retail locator as well. http://www.rainx.com/offer/

Aero Vu wipers: I give them 7/10. Functionally they are fine - totally silent operation with no streaks. However, they are pretty big and bulky looking which kinda defeats the aero flat marketing message. I am happy enough - they'll do for the next year or two but I'll probably try a different brand next time around. Can't really diss the price thou biggrin.gif

just bringing this up for reference...NAPA says the blades are 21 and 20 and so does another vendor on ebay. However, on one st205, they said 21 and 19 so IDK if there is a difference, it actually doesn't matter so much if you are getting the whole blade because you can just adjust it but if you are getting refills thats a different story but you can just center the refills to make it work.

I had 21 and 20 but last got 21 and 19, the 19 works better IMO because the 20 touches the windshield trim just a bit, which bugged me.

Yea 21 and 19. If you go for 21 and 20 and use te flat wipers, the edge of the 20 tends to not follow the contour of the windshield - lifting off at the very edge. I emailed the ebay seller Luke suggested to tell them they had their size wrong. The rear is 20 (IIRC) but can take a fair bit bigger than that if you wish.

i know what you mean about the 20 inch on the pass side but the only way to correct that is to adjust the wiper higher on that side.

Bringing this thread back from the dead..

I've been using Bosch Icons for about two years now. They're just now getting to the point where they leave streaks. I normally only get one year out of my blades so I'm impressed. They're also the quietest blades I've ever had. Last I checked, they're also cheaper than Rain-X Latitudes. I highly recommend them.

Yep. I run those too. Never going back to any other blade.

Advance Auto Parts and Autozone usually run specials on them once and a while and you can get them "Buy one get one 50% off."

I got mine from O'Reilly's, like you said, buy one get one half off. I put Rain-X Latitudes on the Celica because they were out of Icons the day the Celi needed new blades. The Lats seem to perform similarly well, but not $5 a blade better. Plus I think they're a little more bulky where the blade meets the wiper arm, so not as pleasant to look at. Still, far better than the old style metal frame blades.

They're also higher profile and the wind beats them more. The main issue we have with them is customers returning with only the clip left on the wiper arm due to the tab that releases the universal bracket being bumped and the wiper flying off at high speeds. Def not worth the extra cash.

I didn't think it was possible, but I'm reviving this thread... again. After running the Rain-X Latitude blades on the Celica for a year, I've come to the conclusion that they are better than the old style blades but not worth the money. I've taken them off and replaced them with Bosch Icons. I have three cars with three blades apiece and all of them are Icons. They're worth every penny.

Yup, Bosch Icon on the rear is a must, I can never get a standard metal frame wiper to work right back there.

Dont forget the Volvo S-60 sprayer nozzles. They spray the most perfectly even mist. At a dead stop there is a very slight overspray but with any forward speed your gold. You'll get better coverage pissing on the windshield than with the OEM sprayers.

I used NWB, makers of OEM blades, and they make the Lexus IS blades. NWB means Nippon Wiper Blades and they are flat and real good.
