Edit: I'm currently working with a local supplier, and as such am able to receive and ship within an average turnaround time of 1 week, often less as he stocks 9006s in white to blue colors since they're the most popular for him. All specs on the kits are the same as before. I've been running this same kit in my own car since July 08, with battery acid on one of the ballasts even, and have had no problems whatsoever with them. And it rains here. A LOT. For 8 months out of the year. So I feel totally confident in the quality of these kits.
Here are the details on the kits: For sale are HID kits shipped to your door for US$134.00 (this price is for the continental US). High/Low HID kits are available (for cars that use the same bulb for the highs as the lows, not Celicas). Cost is $165 shipped w/in lower 48. AK, HI, APO/FPO & International shipping rates vary greatly; please PM me for current shipping quotes. Description: -Kit includes 2 HID ballasts, 2 HID bulbs, mounting brackets and screws, and necessary wiring/plugs. The kit is plug and play and plugs into your current headlight wiring harness. -Warranty: 1 year -Specification: Normal Input Voltage: 12V Allowable Input Voltage: 9V-16V Normal Input Current: 3.5A Ignition Voltage: 23KV Operating temperature: -40degree ~ +105degree Life Time: >2000 hours Luminous flux: 3, 200 LM Bulb Watt: 35W Available lamp types: H1, H3, H4, H4(hi-lo), H4(H/L),H7, H9, H11, H13, 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007, D2S, D2R(suitable for all kinds of auto, such as BMW, BENZ, AUDI) Color Temp: 4500K, 5000K, 6000K, 8000K, 10000K, 12000K Here is a guide you can use to see the color temperatures. This is only an estimate: what you see may vary from monitor to monitor; further, I pulled this from the internet and it is not intended to be an exact representation. ![]() This is the actual kit (photographed by myself, not a generic picture) ![]() This is a 9006 HID bulb up close (photographed by myself, not a generic picture). Sorry it's kind of blurry. I'll work on replacing it with a better shot. ![]() You can choose the color temp of your preference as well as the bulb type. When ordering, I will need to know the bulb type and color temp you want, as well as your location if you are outside US. Payment will be accepted via paypal or money order. My paypal account is mjgriff1 (at) gmail.com PLEASE include your name, site user name, address, color temp and bulb type. I don't want to misplace any orders and all this info will be necessary for confirming your order. This post has been edited by GriffGirl: Jul 8, 2009 - 12:44 PM -------------------- ![]() |

They are well sealed to protect from water/moisture, and although they are purported to be waterproof, it would probably be more accurate to say that they are very water resistant. As far as resistance to normal conditions, you should not have a problem as long as everything is mounted properly and securely. However should you recover your vehicle from a pond or lake at some point in the future, I wouldn't count on the HID kit being salvageable.

9006 is the headlight type for a '95 ST, correct?
Now... Since we have the headlights separated, would it look odd having the 8000k color for the low beams and then off-white for the high beams? Definitely interested. This is for all non-projector type headlights correct? Then would the projectors require the H1 bulb? ... and these are plug 'n play correct? This post has been edited by KAOS: Aug 12, 2008 - 10:20 PM -------------------- |

You mention plug 'n play but I was under the impression that the HID would require a "kit." A box for the transformer or whatever it is for the bulb and then of course the switch (possible not?) and bulb + wiring itself. Easy install I take it. Just connect the bulbs, run the wires, mount the box, and play?

The box has a plug that goes to the wiring harness for your bulbs, then there's one plug off the other end that goes into the box, and there's another plug off that end of the box that the HID bulb itself plugs into. It's a little hard to describe but when you get the kit, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. And yes, it's super easy to set up. The most "difficult" part is mounting the bracket for the ballast (which of course isn't difficult at all!)

Yeah, unfortunately it's the minimum order I can place. I put a thread up at celicatech for them too, to try to help move things along a bit. If it doesn't pick up in the next week or so, I'm gonna push the date back to Monday, September 15th.

Come on ya'll - these are really nice HIDs - I have them on my car and I can tell you they are durable as hell too. My horror story:
Previously my ballasts weren't mounted - just left rolled up near the lights. Well one day I was driving on Houston's Inner most loop and since it's so old but still gets Hella traffic it has some really rough spots. I Hit one of those bumps in the road that basically looks like a speed bump but at freeway speeds [70mph here] so it's one of those ones that lifts the drink from your cup holders and bangs your head aginst the roof at the same time. So as I'm trying to recover my drink, rub my head and keep the car straight I didn't hear that the DS side ballast had fallen through the big hole next to the battery inside the fender well area. So basically the ballast was hanging by it's wires and bouncing between the ground and the tire doing 70mph down a rough ass freeway for several blocks. Got home - repaired the wiring and mounted them properly and they fired right back up and have not had any problems since. That's durable IMO. Mount yours up correctly the first time and you'll never have a problem with them durability wise. Further to this - Griffgirl is a good and trustworthy seller and she needs your business to fund some desperately needed tires. Buy some already! No - you definetly won't need the projectors to use these. I don't have projectors but I have these HIDs and they are great - way more output than stock halogen bulbs.

^ What he said! I also don't have projectors - I will get night time pictures this weekend; with the halogen bulbs in my fog lights, you'll be able to see a VERY clear distinction between the HIDs and the halogens. It's a really great upgrade.

Those of you who haven't paid yet, please do so so once the Houston guys are in, we can proceed. Thanks! This post has been edited by GriffGirl: Sep 15, 2008 - 5:50 PM -------------------- ![]() |

I'm just thinking ahead and ordering spare bulbs plus I hate the blue color of the ones I already have [personal preference - they look/work great if you like the blue] so my spares will be the ones that are in it ATM.
I don't believe the bulbs will work with the regular wiring at all but IDK. The ballasts just look to be large capacitor/transformer type but electricals aren't my bag so... -------------------- ![]() ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. I have heard these are illegal in cali without having projectors to point them at the ground. Supposedly because of the stock housing the light will blind people at night , and you supposedly need projectors because they are aimed at the ground. Any truth to this because i would hate to get behind a cop if i had a set i already seen a buddy get a ticket for it.

Yes!
As far as the legality in Cali - if your headlights are aimed properly, it really shouldn't be an issue. IDK if technically they are legal or not, but plenty of people in Cali have them, that's for sure. -------------------- ![]() |

Okay, I've gotten further clarification as to the legality of HIDs:
QUOTE They are illegal on most states, it basically comes down to " if your car didn't come with them from factory they are illegal" except those that have HIDs as an option and even those would have to change the headlamp housing for HIDs, as halogen lamps and HIDs are different as well. So basically it's install at your own risk... I haven't had any real issues w/mine. I got stopped in Cali at like 3 am in the redwoods, but my headlights weren't aimed properly (my d/s was kinda whacked out). The cop asked me if they were stock and I told him they weren't, and he was just like "wow, those are really bright, get those aimed." No biggie. -------------------- ![]() |

So after you've ordered them - how long will it take to process/ship?

Here's the update: order went in on the 6th. I'm guessing I should receive product some time between the 24th and the 31st. I will post another update as soon as I have more info. Thank you to everyone for your patience with the unforeseen delay what with Hurricane Ike and all, and of course thanks to Culp for extending me the courtesy of accepting an order below the minimum this time around.

Si seņor. That way I can inspect them before sending them out too, to ensure they are the correct item and are in good order.

I'd like to get another GB in time for everyone to get delivery by Xmas, but it depends on the turnout. I'm more than happy to start another one now, with the date left open-ended for the time being until some more names start popping up on the list. I don't want payment for them though until we have a confirmed date for this next round.
So, who's down for Round 2? -------------------- ![]() |

![]() Edit: They got delivered to my house but no one was there to receive it! Crap, I thought I was having them sent to my job. Hopefully they left a thing I can either sign or a note where I can go get them in person. This post has been edited by GriffGirl: Oct 27, 2008 - 7:16 PM -------------------- ![]() |
