Wait time is less than 1 year, and dealers are selling them a bit over MSRP new. I doubt they will still be selling for $100K (used) in 12 months...
And the new NSX and LF-A might mix things up a bit (whenever they come), so who knows. One thing for sure is import car enthusiasts are in for some good times ![]() -------------------- ![]() ![]() 2002 SC430 (WC) - 19" SSR Comp-H, Daizen swaybars, Sparco Demons, JDM Soarer conversion, carbon fiber spoiler, Injen intake, front strut bar, drilled/slotted Brembo rotors 1997 Celica ST (DD) - 17" ADR, ViS Zyclone CF hood, ViS CF hatch, K&N intake, Invader body kit |

You'll never see a GTR go for 70k in a year bub. yeah i went to go see how much they wanted for one. $115,000 and that was the non premium in Red which is not a color that cost more. Depending on color it can be another $4,000-$8,000 extra. *sigh* -------------------- Your signature is not allowed on 6GC - Defgeph

Well, I know it like comparing apples to oranges, but when the PS3 just came out, people were willing to pay +$1500 for one. Then the hysteria died down. It was revolutionary (in terms of graphics) and for those people who were rich enough to pay for one, it was worth it to them. Then within a few weeks (even while supply was short), people realize how stupid it was to pay that much over retail for one. Prices settled, and eventually they were selling for retail. As with EVERY new item (like the iPhone), people pay a premium to be the 1st to have it.
On ebay, there are several GTR on sale, lowest one is for $95K (BIN). You also can find people who will sell the "position" in line for a thousand dollars (or two) too. Then all you would pay would be the dealer markup. Which isn't $100K. I believe this is the BEST option, if you have the money and are willing to wait 6-8 months to get one NEW at the dealership. And for those with that kind of cash to play with, the newer GTR V-spec is going to make its debut next year too. So there will be plenty of people with the older GTR wanting to upgrade to the newer one, which will means trade-ins. Add all these factors in, I still don't think the GTR will be priced >100K one year from now (80-90K, yeah, but surely not 100K). I'm pretty sure you they will be several (if you look hard enough) that will be available at (or near) cost. But back to the OP, now that the new GTR is here, would you still want an older Skyline? Collectors and enthusiasts can appreciate it for what it is, but performance-wise, a lot of modern cars have or will catch up (ISF, G37, 370Z, etc). And at the risk of being blasphemous, I'm really excited about the new Camaro. Overpriced, yes. But its an example that because of the rarity and desire for the car - MSRP means nothing.

I want to reply to that even though I am not op. ![]() I would still want a Skyline. I know a lot of cars can match or beat the Skyline GT-Rs performance but its not really about that. Although I would love to have a GT-R, the truth is I will never ever get one nor would I be able to afford it ever. For what I want from a car, I would probably aim for an older GT-R or GTS-t since I want to get into legal racing. Even if I for some reason got my hands on a GT-R, pulling out the interior, welding a roll cage and putting the car on a track.... would probably break my heart and my wallet. My theoretical GT-R would spend about 90% of its time in a garage, not even my garage since I deem my garage to be unsafe (the doors don't lock :'( ) the other 10% of the time would be spent speeding through the city and running every red light out of fear of being mugged or killed for my GT-R. ![]() However, 10 - 15 years down the line when the GT-R replaces the niche of the Skyline GT-R(R32)/GTS-t as an older track beater... then I'll be first in line to buy someone's rusty GT-R. Also liking the Camaro is not entirely blasphemous, I will admit to liking it too. Although I hate the retro-phase that every American car company is in, I really enjoy the idea of cheap RWD speed. It was one of my favorite cars as a kid and I'm pretty happy they brought it back. What's great though, is that the base engine does not suck. It kind of looks like the better of the two in terms of engineering. ![]() -------------------- ![]() (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny.
