I dont know what to do!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Should I try and turbo my 7A-FE?
Should I drop in a 3s-gte?
Should I drop in a 4agze?

I was just going to do a turbo on my 7A-FE for fight now but i'm finding it cost just as much as a swap????????? I dont wanna spend anymore then 2000 right now. I can do all the install and everything myself. All I have to pay for is parts. And i really dont wanna mess with putting another engine in. Is a turbo on my car possible for that price? Maybe 6-10 psi?

Personal Suggestion: Save up for the 3S-GTE swap. Well worth it.

if you just want to spend 2k, turbo your car, but I would't run over 6psi for fear of your rather weak bottom end and compression ratio.

IF you really want big power, re-post when you have about four grand.

you CAN get all the parts necessary for turbo for under 2,000. It just takes time to find the good deals.

the 3s-gte and 4a-gze just dont drop in to your car.

i think something with the 4a=gze you need a new tranny

but if you were to save up and get an AE111 clip you could get the 6 speed tranny that goes with it. that would be sweet and you would have around 170hp.

Also, dont forget about the wiring that will come into play if you swap your engine. That will be ATLEAST another $350-450 if you can get "Mike" to do it.

my total so far is something like $1500, dont remember exactly.

btw im boosting at 6psi and have done so for about 200 miles so far, running very rich with no problems.

with the proper fuel, you can run 10psi on a 7afe, its CR aint that high. that is with a FMIC however, i have a sidemount, which is not as good as a FMIC but better than nothing

not really, because he has an st, a 4age type engine would mount alot easier, it wouldn't have as much of a potentail, but it would be alot cheaper to swap in

this is true, you will need the help of an experienced mechanic if you are not mechanically inclined

but whatever you decide to do, good luck and have fun with the car

Everyone (speaking in general here) keeps saying that it's harder to mount a 3S-GTE into an AT200 chassis... IT'S NOT THAT HARD PEOPLE... If you are all willing to put in the time and effort of performing a motorswap, it's NOT that much more difficult to drop in a 3S as it is a 4A...

I have an ST and just used the ST205 mounts... the ST204 mounts will work as well. The only (slightly) difficult thing was that the driverside mounts had to be welded on... there are other work arounds (i.e. having custom mounts fabricated), but other than that, it's not that bad.

The only reason why I'm saying this is because everytime I see people saying that it's harder to install a 3S-GTE into a AT200 (ST model), I get this impression that people who want to take on such a project may get discouraged.

I don't want anyone here to get discouraged (if they have the money) to tackle this project.

Now to answer PowellCelica's question, let me pose you with this question... What is your ultimate goal in terms of HP? If you want to reach 300+, then go with a 3S swap. If you want mediocre, go for the 4A swap. If you just want to boost (for practically the same cost of performing a swap), then just turbo your 7A.

Just my $0.02...

Yes, your statement may hold true... but it all boils down to what his goals are.

Did you guys see the 4agze parts list I posted? For like,,, 3k you could get a 4a and turbo it with HKS internals. That would easily develope 300hp. The question is, which set up has the stronger drive shafts?

After all, the drive shafts are the key here aren't they? This is the only reason I can see for picking a 3s over a 4a in an ST.
