Venus=SHADY???...............My mechanic thought so too, so he even called to check on their Business License and its super clean with ZERO complaints. Plus they have been only open for business since November 2000.

Anyways I am not gonna get an engine from them now because I don't want no shady business. (mechanic was told 230hp for ST215 3SGTE and no mileage) and for only 2500+500 shipping from Sacramento which is not as far as east coast. 500 SHIPPING is a crap load for in-state shipping

I am not sure what I should do.....I am really scared that my mechanic won't even be able to swap the 3SGTE in to the car, and then I would have an unfinished car.

5sfe turboed sounds a lot easier for him and I was even thinking 4AGZE but venus is shady so......

Also if I go with the 5SFTE I could get a lot of accesories for like 1000-1500 and it would be as good as a 3SGTE, but thats so much more money...Burrien=2500+1500=4000 hmm....it actually sounds good since no labor cost.

Well keep on giving me advice 6GC owners...hehe

Just sell it and buy a Huffy there 5 speeds, then work out your lower body for the turbo effect. biggrin.gif ok well I always liked the sound of a 5SFTE, but dont say it to loud or I'll get molested. Just dont over boost, hook up the stock MKII Intercooler, maybee touch up some internals to run higher boost and get a big a$$ APR aluminum wing(joke) and youll be good. Dont forget Apexi SAFCII, fatter Wires, and maybee 3sgte exhaust manifold and possibly MSD ignition, a more powerfull coil and a beer.

I think I will do that, the aluminum wing....I think I am going to go with the carbon fiber one though, make my own altezzas, get a loud muffler, and drive around town showing off my loudness, my fat wing, and bright red lights...hehe

5sfte does sound good, I think i may just drive it around for a while with low boost, unless I can find the supra intercooler for cheap anytime soon.

I didn't encounter any problems with Venus... but I will tell you this... the wiring harness is going to give you the most difficult time... if you're mechanic can't get ahold of the wiring diagrams... I suggest you give up now... or see if Mike (Qatar) from Celica.net can do a JDM 3rd gen 3S-GTE wiring harness... I'm sure he can...

$500 for shipping FOR A CLIP is not that much... I spent about $400 to ship the clip down here MYSELF...

Dude... stop freakin out... at least you haven't been carless for almost 2 years like me...

hahaha, I have been very careless for 2 years. First year I chose wrong roommates and had super bad probs with them. Then I make the mistake of buying a brand new and horrible car and go crash it ... Sell that and lose around 5 grand on it....(worked 12 hours a day every day for 1 summer, plus coop.) And then I go drop out of Purdue and try to tranfer to an UC school, which is on the VERGE OF ENROLLMENT FREEZE.

carelessness dude, everyone's careless at times.

ok. ok.

Venus is not shady. They're good buisness ppl who sell you great parts for cheap.
I bought my clip from them and i have nothing bad to say about them

You are complaining about paying $500 for shipping. I dont know about you, but i would do anything to get my car done. If you are trippin about paying $500 to get it shipped, you better get ready to pay a lot more to get the swap done.

Yet there is an alternative to your situation. If you dont want to pay the shipping, then why not go pick up the clip yourself?

That's what i did. I rented a uhaul flat bed, and drove up there in a 4runner. Venus loaded the clip on the uhaul, then i drove back. Think of it as a road trip with some buddies. You will spend about $60 for the uhaul, and $100 total for gas.

$60 for a Uhaul flatbed one-way is assuming this guy has a truck/suv... I paid $283 for a 14' truck one-way... and spent $60 in gas..., but about $100 for my plane ticket up to Sac... and $20 for the shuttle ride to Uhaul...

Just wanted to give a price breakdown for the alternative.

lol Ray, you actually did trade in your celica for a Huffy, an 18 speed at that :-P I also spent about 400 some odd dollars in getting a clip down to the LA area, towing it with a rented trailer. Driving the 5 at 55 mph at 4 am is NOT fun. And Venus doesn't neccessarily sell GREAT parts for cheap. They sell whatever they get. They don't know the condition, just where it's from and the mileage. Also, they should know that a 4th gen 3sgte has at least 260 hp, not 230...

Edit: Ray, why is your car taking so freaking long man? The other Ray in Florida got his running in about 6 months (I know, I was there =D).

The ST215 doesn't have a 4th gen 3S-GTE... it has a 3rd Gen...

As for my car, read the sticky that Mynzeyez created up top in this forum...

There are various reasons why my car has been taking long... one is due to the shops... and second... because I have a WRC motor...

You took off the anti-lag feature on that there WRC right?

What's the body code then for the AWD Caldina that had the 4th gen 3sgte?

The anti-lag components are still there... just disabled...

The 4th gen is in the ST246
