Okay, last year my clutch was slipping and eventually left me on a horrible drive. So $850 later, I had it fixed and it felt like driving a new car. Now it is starting to slip again (thank God still under warranty until the 28th of December). The car seems to be leaking oil, and possibly clutch fluid. So no matter how stupid of a question this may sound, do you think the leak is causing this? It is only 1st and 2nd gear (2nd not so much as 1st when I push it a lil and if I drive it really slow, no issues). Or do you think that perhaps the clutch sucks and that warranty needs to be put to good use?
Is there an upgraded clutch I can use that won't bust my pressure plates? Someone please help, this is driving me nuts. If it is a seal, do you know roughly what is "Guesstimated" for repair? Ah man...... I guess just any information could be very well considered. I am aware with a vehicle, there are many things that can be wrong and without a proper diagnostic, it is hard to determine the absolute problem. I am just learning all this stuff in school, but with basic classes. Anyways, any help is appreciated. Thank you ahead of time. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

Ok, so can I put a Stage 2 clutch on my stock GT? I am just going to ask that now. Also, I heard the OEM clutch sucks for our cars. How valid is this information?

Yea you can put a Stage 2 in your stock GT but if you plan on going turbo in the really near future i would recommend going higher stage. About the OEM one, idk if thats true or not, Im on my second OEM and im going turbo now and nothing wrong yet... Guess its luck of the draw. Believe most of this is correct, anyone can correct me if i'm wrong -------------------- '99 Celica GT - White

How valid is this information? stage 2 is fine you can put what ever clutch you want in, but it really depends on where you get you oem from toyota or a retail store like napa or autozone etc. when i had my 5sfte my oem clutch lasted me a while but once i started to beating on it, it started slipping..got another oem one from toyota and it lasted me a while..i guess it really depends on how you drive.. -------------------- ![]() |

Thanks. So what say you about my clutch? I know it is hard to say. I had it done in December of 07' and I have a year warranty. It was fine up until last month, started to slip a bit, figured it was my fault, and now it is a lil worse. I know I can last like this until January, because if I do not accelerate hard, it does not slip. But I kinda do a lil bit. Then again, friends say I might have a tranny leak. Now if in fact it is transmission fluid (I am guessing), I would imagine the leakage to be thick, in which it is not. Just looks like I have an oil leak. I think I should just take it in again and tell the guy it is slipping again and have him fix it. What do you guys think? Sound good? Ya? I doubt he ordered from Toyota. He has a local business. Do you know what type of clutch the mechanic used? I read through your post but I might have missed it. My car was purchased with the clutch shot. As far as OEM clutches go, I don't know what the heck the guy before me did, but @ 188k that clutch came out in pieces- and not one or two. I've since had the ACT stage 2 and thats been for about 4 years now, and .... 50k miles later, it grabs like day 1.

There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. It is under warranty though, so I might make a deal with him and purchase the part if they do the labor. I think it is a fair deal, because if not and he puts cheap stuff in there again, I can keep burning through it and it will cost him more. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204
