dont get an mr2, stick with a celica engine. St205 or St185, difference of about 2500. USDM engines have higher mileage, get a clip, get jdm.

there isnt a 4th generation gt4/all trac that i have ever heard of

there is a 4th generation 3s-gte. thats in the toyota caldina. chassis code st215. i think 260hp or so. way expensive and super rare and even more to do the wiring to swap into your car.

1st gen 3s-gte in the all trac/gt4 st165 87-89 (i think)
2nd gen 3s-gte in the all trac/gt4 st185 90-93
3rd gen 3s-gte in the gtfour 94-98 st205
4th gen 3s-gte in the caldina not sure on years st215

the very first alltrac came out with the 4th gen celica. 86-89 or something like that. came with the 1st gen 3sgte and a small w2a IC

is it still easier to use a st185 engine over any other when you get a front clip? given that there are some parts that have to be perchased or replaced, cant you just gut the clip for the ecu, gauge cluster, wiring harness, shift linkage, components, motor mounts and not have a problem with wiring? i mean, the only wiring complications involved when your going that route is lighting and power options, right?

get the 185... you can get replacement parts from toyota for the most part just use the 5th gen alltrac for ordering.. I have a 205 and it was a pain to get replacement parts for the top end.. toysport wanted 350+ just for a new heat shield F@*k that!... currently I am playing around with a 185 top end I got when I traded my GT4 rearend parts, so far everything I have order for it from the toyota dealer has worked fine... did have alittle bit of a problem with the oil return hose but a little bending fixed that fine and it could of just gotten bent in shipping.
