so i blew my motor

well shes knocking
i just put in 5 quarts of oil in her
....so i think shes almost done
so....could i take an ST and put in on of the other motors, with the same mounts in the same place?
also
im gonna do a manual swap with it....will it be easier to do that while i have no motor?

The 5sfe motor is the factory motor found in the usdm celica GT.

Your motor the 7afe is the factory motor found in the usdm ST.

The 3s motor you are referring to is more then likely the 3sgte which is found in the usdm 5th gen celica all-trac and mr2 turbo.

The only motor that comes factory turbocharged is the 3sgte.

with 1200 saved up you can't do the 3sgte swap.

But you can get yourself a stock 7afe motor and call it a day. Not worth putting in a 5sfe into your celica, because the motor mounts won't line up without some modding and I think the wiring harness needs to be done.

I believe the c52 is used on the 7a.

Maybe you spun a rod bearing.

IIRC start your car and pull out the plug wires one by one to see which cylinder it is.

The noise stops if you pull out the right spark plug wire.

No. The valve cover is the top end of the motor where the head is. If you really think its a knock then its coming from the block. Now if its a ticking noise it could be the valves in the head. But since you are saying its a knock its your block. You'd have to inspect the cylinder walls to see what kind of damage. Inspect the crankshaft too, you spun a rod bearing. If you are doing it yourself if will be a pretty cheap build. But I think its better to find a used motor in good shape and just swap it in.

what about swapping in a 4AGE silver top from a 90-96 corolla?? i read somewhere that the A trannys will bolt up to the A blocks... if this is true then The 4AGE will bolt up to my stock auto off my 7AFE, correct?... but are the mounts the same?

the other thing is the ecu, if this motor will work then what ecu am i going to need to run it? im puretty sure that my stock ecu wont work due to the ITBs

but this swap seems like it would be the best for power and money because i can get the motor for $490+ shipping..

i just need some info on this so if anybody knows or knows somebody who can point me in the right direction on this, or hook me up with a DIY or just helpful links, it would help out a lot, thanks...

Yeah, then your motor is shot.
If you dont know much about these cars, then just get another 7afe from a junk yard to swap in there.
Doing any other 3sgte or 4age swap is a bad idea, if you havent done any research beforehand.

Hahaha yeah research the 4A. I guarantee you will find something you like and you won't have to swap trannys or you could use any one of the trannys that mates up with an A engine. The best thing is that you can source most of your parts from ****ty DD corollas. biggrin.gif

But yeah, switching for A to S is a bad idea, unless you have the money and you really want to get a 3S-GTE, you'd need to source way too much crap to be worth it.

If you just want something a little more peppy than your 7A you can source any of the 4A-GE engines. If you want more power and some boost, you can get a 4A-GZE from the JDM Corolla Levin(AE92 and AE101 I think). If you want some screaming fun N/A power you can source a 20V 4A-GE silvertop from the AE101 or blacktop from the AE111.

also on another post someone said that i had to modify the a/c line, the p/s line and the exhaust and intake, but im gonna take the intake i made for my current motor and just slap it on the 4A

soooo i just want you guys to know, that im not getting the 4A swap because im not funding it, my granddad is,
he found another 7A(bleh) brand new for $1600
WTF?! who wants to pay that much for THE slowest motor on the block?
not me
but im getting another 7A in my auto ST, that is exactly why im looking to get a project car if u havent read my AE86 thread, just fyi,

but thanks to every1 who has given me information on the 4A swap, alot!!!

its really appreciated, maybe i can get that done when im done with my new 7A

wow thats a bit pricy for a 7A. A 4A-GE silvertop with all the necessities up here is like $1000. If you're getting an engine like that don't swap it out a year down the line.... boost it wink.gif

That way you will still get respectable power AND you won't have to sell your pristine 7A.

well, well, well,
just an update on my car frown.gif
she died last nite
i was playin around and "e-braked" this turn last nite and she just went
sooo im car-less for ANOTHER TWO WEEKS!!!!
this new motor has just been trouble getting here, sooo, if this thing doesnt come soon then idk what to do! because i didnt buy this stupid thing and my granddad doesnt know anything about cars...
i just hope it comes soon

UPDATE: the new "motor" is just a block and a head, nothing else, guys, btw its a 5s and i have a 7a, and my poppa said it was coming from jacksonville...wrong...it had a cali address, sooo, im just gonna let the mechanic who ordered it realize he ordered the wrong motor...
and also my blown motor, is 100% blown up!!!!
it left me stranded on the side of the road for 45 mins to an hour!!!! while like no lie 4 cops passed and didnt stop!!!!!
this SUCKS!!!! <-underlined
this has been nothing but trouble

alright guys, the right motor should be in tomoro =], and i cant wait, the mechanic possibly might be done by saturday.
also i had a crack in the header so he went to the parts store and got a 1 piece header, this makes me think its a 4-1 header, possibly aftermarket? tell me what you guys think it is

my dad tracked it today while he was at work

so guys i got my car back christmas eve...but she idles funny and now my exhuast sounds ricey...like a lil high pitched buzzing bee!!!! asdflk;ajs;gkljhasg but anyway im redoing that....and i need to know if the idling funny is supposed to happen if not what can i do?
