Hey everyone. Im new to this site and I have a question. I bought my 94 GT Automatic used and I believe it had its original trannie swapped out. The trannie that is in the car now has 97 painted on it and its got a metal plate that has JT2ST07N4 on it. Can anyone help me figure out what trannie this is? Thanks

Sounds exactly like my issue. I have a 94 GT auto and 97 painted as well. I'm stumped myself. I don't think the tranny has been replaced.

Yeah that sounds like what mine looks like, I have no proof that the trannie is not stock, but it has 97 painted on it. Weird. Does yours have the same JT2ST07N4 written on it?

Sounds like it might be the factory trans if both of you have that. As far as that code goes, that sounds more like a serial number than a transmission code. I don't know a lot about transmissions, but I know their codes are easier than that. Like E153, for example. I have a spare ST auto trans sitting in my garage. It also has a little metal plate on it that has the serial number, and if it's the same thing as what you are talking about, it's nothing to worry about.
