no, you have to take the seats apart, and take off the cloth by cutting the "hogrings", remove the wires from the cloth covers and put them in the leather covers and take all of the covers to an auto upholstery place to get the interlocking plastic channels sewn onto the leather, then install the leather on the foam using new hogrings. Then I used a heatgun to remove wrinkles.

Im thinking about getting these too. I talked to a local car shop earlier today and they said that they would put them in for about $140. Do you think I should go for it??

if you've got the cash, leave it to the pros. if you've got the time, do it yourself. I was trying to save some money and had some time on my hands so I did it myself and now every time I'm in my car I'm proud that I did it myself.

use the "make an offer" feature on ebay for the covers, I think theyll accept $350 for all 4 covers.

I have these, still in the box because I haven't had the time to install them.
I only got the front seats because I have black rear seats. I had him do them in vinyl. They quality looks great, as for the fit I have no idea. One of these days I'll get to it. -------------------- Buy my Celica $2,500 - http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0

Those are really good. It should have been made holes for the headrests and the pins on the backseats though.

Those are really good. It should have been made holes for the headrests and the pins on the backseats though. When I took the covers to the auto upholstery shop for minor mods, I asked the guy to cut the headrest holes, and he said that was a bad idea because depending on how you stretch the cover over, the holes might be slightly off... it's much safer to cut them yourself after the cover is permanently installed. -------------------- |

I bought these for my daughter's 94 coupe before she totalled it. They are black with red stitching if anyone needs any like that.

Do these fit seats that were originally cloth, leather or both? Does anyone know? I mean, I thought the cloth seats had a different shape than the leather ones. Am I wrong?
Also, does anyone know if the coupe and vert rear seats are the same? This post has been edited by dgbldr: Jan 4, 2009 - 2:34 AM |

I think its the same. They fit Celica ST cloth seats perfectly. The covers to the front seats are a bit too small though, so I must do something here.

I went back and re-read the sticky on re-upholstering. As I thought, the cloth seats have different foam shape from the leather seats. If you look at some pictures, it's pretty obvious that leather seats have "shoulders" that stick out more.
I think the eBay outfit makes their covers to order to fit whatever you have/want. |

There is a guy in the uk that makes custom seat covers for the gen 6 I got the first set off him they are quite awkward to fit to me and a friend a full day to do.
![]() ![]() Now I have used the car for a while I need to tighten up the seats to get rid of the minor sags but looks very good in the flesh. |

When I ordered my leather covers from eBay I didn't specify that I had the stock cloth foam. The auction was for ST205 covers.

So I got my seat covers last Tuesday! But the bad news is that before I got my seat covers my mom called a car shop to see around how much they would charge to put them in, and the guy said it should be around $120-140. But when I brought the car in to the shop yesterday the guy said it’s going to be more like $400. I should have known $140 was too good to be true. Anyways do you guys think $400 is a bad price?

It's pretty hard, but my husband put my seat covers in my convertible. These weren't available when I bought mine- I paid $900 elsewhere for red and black leather. You do have to take off the old upholstery and buy hog rings and hog ring pliers unless you're just going to use zip ties. You have to be careful not to puncture your leather.
If my husband can do it, I'll bet you can too- if you have patience. He did curse a bit. LOL |

I think Ill get the shop to do it because I would have no idea what I was doing, and I have very few tools. But on a good note, when the interior guy at the shop looked at my seat covers he was very impressed with how well they were made and the price i got them for($400). He said if some one came into the shop asking him to make the same covers I had they would be atleast $1500-$1600.
