Ok, I obviously know nothing about rims. I have decided to paint my car red in the future. It was originally red, and so was my GT4 hood and bumper prior to applying them. So now the riser blocks are going to go to black, car is going to be red, and looking for a new decent set of rims.
For our cars, what is the perfect width and offset to fill out and give a more aggressive appearance? Not so much opinion, but just what fills out the most. I don't mind if the wheels kinda stick out a lil bit, but I do want a more aggressive look with the rims and for the wheels to fill out that area a lot better. If you have tire size suggestions as well for whatever rims, it would be appreciated. But I dunno how offsets go and such. I have seen some 18's x 8.5 with a 38mm offset I was thinking about. I guess the lip is 2". But I am not sure how it is going to look. So I ask you experts out there. Thanks -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

this is 18x8.5 with a +32 offset.
i believe this is the best width and offset. although i would do 17x8.5 +32 this guy says he does not rub and he is pretty low. if the ones you are looking at with a +38 offset do rub, you can always get a 5mm spacer. ![]() |

Any idea what kind of tires are those size wise? LOL That sounds funny, Size Wise. LOL -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

Aren't those the same rims that Snakeloa and the guy with the orange GT-4 have?

Or does that even affect it? So is it the width? -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

pretty sure ![]() im still confused on this offset stuff. Damn dude, you even got Cholos out there in Hawaii? That's a trip! They must really be everywhere! I used to ask myself if Alaska had cholos. For some reason I picture them still living in igloos and tagging on the houses with chisels and a hammer. And they wear Nike Emus. This should help Wheel Offset Calculator.
This is what I have on my ST205 GT4. - 8Jx16 (That's an 8" wide rim with a 16" diameter wheel), +38ET (Offset) with 225/50x16 with no issues. - also running 7.5Jx18 +35 offest wth 225/35x18 with no issues. (Except I need 5mm spacers on the front to clear the calipers - this is GT4 specific though). I think the ideal size is an 8" rim and a +35 Offset. |

I have discovered it is a mathematical equation when deciding which is going to fit best. That helps a lot. Really, thanks. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

Additional info. to help with calculations:
Model - Celica T20* Year - 90 to 99 PCD - 5x100 Offset - 35 to 42 Bore - 54.1 The mathematical calculations will give you a safe bet. The only way to really know is trial and error - cheaper to do this with 1 set of wheels and spacers ![]() Failing that, I put some wheels on that I knew the dimesnions and then got the tape measure out. Measured the inner clearance between rim/tyre to strut and then from rim/tyre to inner edge of wing. Then did some calculations. |
