i pulled the bezel off the shifter, moved my shift boot aside and reached back there. only other way i can think of is to pull the center console up.

Do u swap with a white led one instead... much brighter than stock... I serve the Ashtray as coin cointainer since I am a non-smoker, that little bulb help a bit to search coins ...

But is it in the tray itself or under? There's no wires going into the tray nor is there a light under it...or are you talking about the one in the rear?

if you remove the tray rjb, and look closely you will see that there is a clear window on the rear facing side of it. Then, look through the hole where the ash tray sits and look for where the clear window would line up with in there, you'll see it, probably has the nasty green thing on it still. biggrin.gif The best way to change it really though is by taking out the whoel console so you don't break any of the aging plastic clips.

x2. I just had my console out a few days ago, installing a new light in the storage compartment. It makes life a whole lot easier to take 5 minutes to undo 2 screws and 2 bolts and take the console out then try to work with it where you can't see it.

You people need to start taking pictures and uploading them. Cuz most people have no idea of what you're talking about. Even though it is hilarious to read, it would be just better with photos.

But yea I had a light too, but then it stopped working when I took out the middle console to hose it down, cuz it was dirty. biggrin.gif

Does the half of the time its on = night time or early morning? Both this and the passenger glovebox light only turns on when the parking and/or headlights are on

ooooh, lol. Well maybe the bulb just needs replacing cause it's shorting out (one of my 194's from my cluster used to work half of the time... a good smacking used to wake him up though laugh.gif ), and if that fails, try looking at the socket and wherever the wire heads back to [somewhere in the depths of the dash..]
