Now that I've saved up a little bit of money, I'm going to buy an electrical 2 1/6" oil pressure gauge for my car to monitor my new engine. I've been doing some looking around, and although I'd love to have something from Defi or Apexi or Blitz or HKS, I just can't spend $200 on one oil pressure gauge. So below are some of the choices I'm thinking of right now. All of them can be had for under $60 shipped, and a couple are significantly cheaper.

1. Autometer Sport-Comp - This gauge is known to be accurate, and can have a red backlight to match my gauge cluster and cd player and clock in the future. Unfortunately, it isn't the full-sweep style that I personally like a lot more.

2. Autometer Ultra-Lite Full-Sweep - This gauge is also known to be accurate, and can have a red lighted ring around the gauge that illuminates it night, and looks very cool from what I've seen. It's also full-sweep, which looks better in my opinion, but it's the most expensive of my choices so far.

3. Autotechnic S7 - This gauge is a full-sweep gauge, and features blue, red, and orange illumination, and is a very cool and futuristic-looking gauge. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything about accuracy or reliability on these gauges.

4. Matrix Type-X - This gauge is a full-sweep gauge, and features a white face which illuminates indiglo blue at night. As far as accuracy goes, I'm not sure how it is, but it looks very nice in my opinion.

So out of those gauges, which do you guys prefer? So far, I'm liking the Autometer Ultra-Lite gauge the most, but I'm wondering if anyone has used these gauges and what they think of them. smile.gif

I thought they looked very clean as well. Unfortunately, they're an indiglo blue color, and I'm really kind of wanting red gauges.

I'd go with the Autometer Ultra-Lite and if its glow matches the rest of you interior then its a hands-down winner smile.gif

As the saying goes: Quality and style is remembered long after price is forgotten. Of course that's easy for me to say, since i'm not paying biggrin.gif

Seriously though, i'd rank them - style-wise, this way:

Autometer Ultra-Lite
Matrix Type-X
Autometer Sport-Comp
Autotechnic S7

I found out that the Matrix gauges are all mechanical, so those are out of the picture. Also, I decided that I'm going to definitely want full-sweep gauges, so the Sport-Comp gauges are out of the picture, as the oil pressure gauge isn't offered in the full-sweep style.

Also, I'm hesitant to go with the Ultra-Lite gauges in 2-1/16", because Autometer doesn't offer a full-sweep 2-1/16" electrical water temperature gauge for some odd reason, so if I got a water temperature gauge like I plan to eventually, it'd be different, and I don't want that. I thought I could go with the 2-5/8" Ultra-Lite gauges, because even though they're bigger, they look much better because they don't have any screws in the front of the gauge. But after calling a few places, they're apparently $180-200 for the gauge, as opposed to $50-60 for the identical, except smaller 2-1/16" version. frown.gif

And with the S7 gauges, the water temperature and oil temperature look a bit different than the oil pressure gauge, so I'm not sure what to do now. Also, the needle doesn't illuminate at night, making the gauges harder to read very quickly at a glance. frown.gif

Maybe I will just get the 2-1/16" Ultra-Lite oil pressure gauge for now, and then oil pressure, and then get something else if I decide to get water temperature. I could probably get by without water temperature anyway, as we have a factory gauge for that, even though it's probably not very accurate. Also, the accuracy on the Ultra-Lite guages is excellent.

Do you have any pics of them, especially at night, or when they're lit up? I could only find a low quality night pic.
