I have a 2nd gen in my celica and I have a few questions. 1st let me tell you the symptoms. Car seems like it has great performance like throw you in the seat kind When I got it and changed to a fmic and it seems slower. Then I found boost leaks so I fixed them, car Ran strong. Then Had a elbow on my piping blow so I replaced it and added a ko racing tb inlet pipe. Car did not seem as fast as stock intercooler, but ran a 14.3 at track. But since I have added and changed the intercooler pipes a few times finally got a exhaust shop to bend me 2 solid pipes but there not mandrel and the cars dont seem as fast as it did. Well things I noticed that are different since I first got the car from swap: the turbo seems louder alot more lately. I dont have a bov on the car and it sounds like I do when I let of gas or shift. The fuel pump is walbro and its gotten loud as hell was not like that before. Boost reads on gauge 12/13lbs like it should and it holds it. So I decide to change my spark plugs and they was out of the copper ngk plugs so I got irodium costed 2 times as much installed them and power is not there. The power seemd to fade as the rpm raises. Clutch is strong. Idles weird somtimes. One more thing the plug wires that is on the car that came from southern car customs with the swap completion dont look like everyone elses, They stick up 2inches above the valve cover they are not flush with the valve cover any one seen these plugs I think its the wrong kind.

So It could be:
wrong spark plug wires bad fuel pump or cloged? turbo is loud but hold boost is it bad? dont have a oil can so the turbo has oil residue on it Spark plugs installed wrong afm bad? sounds like a bov is on car and there is none meaning boost leak but gauge says 12lbs |

Could the waste gate or tvis be messing up seems like boost is being held back and not giving the engine power but the gauge reads right

if you have boost you have boost simple as that. You might not quite have enough flow. Get mandrel bent pipes and do a pressure test (ie make or get an adapter you can put on the turbo inlet with a fitting to a compressor hose, put it up to 10 psi or so and check for leaks.
check for vac leaks. Irridums are uesless, go back to copper, make sure they are gapped to .8mm. -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

Does your turbo sound loud?
If I have boost then that is not the reason for power loss latly I think its not gettin the right fire since I changed the spark plus |

it sounds loud when on 20 psi and full noise
![]() but it would be louder if you have a boost leak, if its only a small one you will still get the pressure just increased noise and a little loss in flow and performance. chuck some coppers back in it, check your timing and vac leaks. -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

since you don't have a BOV, the noise you are hearing when you let off the throttle, or shift, is compressor surge. Sounds good, bad for turbo. Get a BOV and install it. As for your lack of power, I honestly would use OEM ignition parts since your only running 12-13psi, and I'm assuming, still the CT26. Once you have your ignition problems solved, then start checking for vacuum leaks, and checking your T-VIS would not hurt either. Hope you get this figured out! Good Luck.
