i've already installed the steering wheel onto my car now!!.. i just need to figure out the cruise control!!.. okie.. i've read numerous post bout it but i'm still skeptical!!.. i mean i'm more of a pictorial type of guy!!.. i just wanna make really sure that i truly understand what i'm doing before actually doing it!!.. i've no electrical experiences whatsoever!!.. i dont know how to read electrical schematics or diagrams!!..
anyhu.. i've compiled the resources that i've gathered so far to share what i've learned so far but i still need more info bout it!!.. all the infos i've gathered so far are actually pretty vague to me!!.. i'm pretty slow actually!!.. its still unclear to me what wire goes where!!.. i've read these three post time n time again.. n here's what i know now.. the yellow wire from the gen7's the horn.. and the green wire from the gen6 (furthest to the right) is the horn.. i tried retro fitting the gen6 cruise control into the gen7 steering wheel.. i could only screw in 1screw!!.. it wont fit properly!!.. i tried opening up the cruise control levers but i dont know what am i looking at.. i'm a disgrace!!.. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...7&hl=cruise http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=44319 http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...ering&st=20 these are the wiring diagrams for the cruise controls!!.. ![]() ^^ 6 gen ![]() ^^ 7 gen these are the stuff that i have now!!.. was lucky enough to locate a gen7 clock spring!!.. ![]() ![]() ^^ 6 gen ![]() ^^ 7 gen my question now is what wire goes where if i wanna splice them?? there are only 2wires on the gen7 cruise n 3 wires on the gen6.. i want to be 1000% sure what wire goes where before actually cutting any wires!!.. i dont have tools to actually solder the resistors.. so i think i'll go with the slicing of the wires!!.. so this could actually be a complete "how to" for those who wants to swap a gen7 steering wheel in the future!!.. |

soldering is fun. but in reality if you study how the wiring of the 6th gen. the same terminal has two wires connected. dont recall which ones.
the thing that you want to mimic is the resistances to be the same. thats why i soldered, but there should be another way... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL
If you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im alive, better post your questions in the thread below, maybe I log back in 2grfe Swapped... Why I chose the 2GR, before you ask read here... i know this sounds abit weird but would you mind doing it for me?? i'll send you the parts.. i'll pay for shipping for both sides n mayb pay you abit as a "token of appreciation" (i cant really afford much now due to my.. long story)
savvy?? ![]() ![]() ![]() unless someone can direct me!!.. soldering is fun. but in reality if you study how the wiring of the 6th gen. the same terminal has two wires connected. dont recall which ones. the thing that you want to mimic is the resistances to be the same. thats why i soldered, but there should be another way... |

if you had to do this, i'm guessing you'll need an actual 7th gen with cruise control and measure the resistance (ohms) across each resistor in the switch, and do the same for the 6th gen and see if they match for each action (ie. cruise, res/acc, set/coast, and cancel). if they're different you won't be able to use the 7th gen switch since all the resistors are embedded within, unless you take it apart and remove the resistors to put in ones that match the resistance in the 6gc switch.

so do the switches put out the same resistance and are essentially the same internally? or did you remove/add resistors to give out the correct resistance as the 6th gen switches?

welded the resistors in place. its a little tricky cause its difficult. I believe one of them is loose, so i have to go back and revise..
