I've been wondering how tall are all the 6th gen owners out there? Obviously, Toyota did not build our cars for tall people but I'm curious how big someone can be and still fit comfortably into a Celica.

I'm 5' 7" and I don't have much room above MY head so I can only imagine how difficult it is for anyone taller. I know my brother is 5' 10" and he doesn't like riding in my car. The lack of headroom really doesn't bother me and I didn't buy my car for anyone else's comfort so I really don't care.

Just wondering if this was an issue with anybody or are we all midgets? biggrin.gif

I think ths is KINDA... off topic, but anyway

I'm 5'10" and I'm good. Its the back seat that SUCKS for tall or even average height people.

5'8" and comfortable. My dad is 6'01" and brother 6'02", they don't have a problem with it. True though, the backseat is painful...

I'm 5'4". No prpblems here. biggrin.gif Gosh I really didn't think anyone over 5'10" would feel at all comfortable in our celicas?

Has anyone ever sat in the newer style eclipses? Head room in the back seat sucks. I think it's our Celi's are more spacious than the Eclipses. IMO Just a thought.

6'4" I fit fine but gotta lay the seat back... got plenty of leg room with the bottom of the seat slide all the way back too.

BTW: in cars like ours the back seats are really ment for passangers.. there more for insurance purposes

5'9" and the car is just perfect. Have lots of room. My dad has enough room in the car and he's 6'2" 230lbs. Not much head room for him, but he fits. The biggest problem he has is how low the car sits... according to him.

6', and have yet to have a problem. The back seats are great for children, but don't really fit adults. Nice for when I pick up my friends and their kids can ride in the back.

As far as leg/head room, even with the moonroof I have more than 2" of head space, and pushing the seat back I can make it so I almost can't touch the pedals.

6'2" i think there's plenty of room, as long as you have the seat bottom adjusted all the way down and pushed all the way back. of course i'd hate to try and fit anyone in the seat behind me. biggrin.gif

You'd be surprised at which cars 'tall' people can actually fit in. My friend Danny is 6'7" and fits Celicas just fine. He said that when he was shopping around, MR2s(2nd gen) and CRXs were two of the best fits, and he couldn't sit in most trucks(because the seats don't go back). Last I heard(he moved to Alaska last year) he still had his 85 Celica GTS coupe and his 88 4-runner 2-door 4x4.

I'm 6"4' and I have no problems with room. I have the seat all the way back and leaning back cause if not my hair rubs against the sunroof. The only time I have any difficulities is when there are 5 ppl in the car or I'm in the back seat when tall ppl are in the front.

5'11" here. I've found that heavier people have a harder time fitting in our cars than tall people. For some reason they sit much higher in the seats. I think my coupe has a lot more headroom in the rear seat than a hatchback. I have been in a hatchback, but my head is no where near touching the ceiling in my back seat.

I'm willing to bet they did! I'm the one that started this thread and as I said in my initial post, I'm 5'7" and I BARELY fit in my 99GT - which has a moonroof, if that matters? I was shocked when I saw the height of people who said they fit fine.

So just wondering what the crowd looks like over 11 years later, I'm 5'5" and I feel as though this car was designed for people of my size. Any taller or wider and would feel squeezed.

I'm 5'10", so headroom wise I was fine. My problem was shoulder room, as I'm 54" around the shoulders. There are very few cars where my shoulder isn't buried into the door panel. Maybe that's why I like the McLaren F1 so much. tongue.gif

5'11" and headroom and shoulder room is good for me. Only issue is getting in, Seat is too low for me so i either fall in and hope that the enormous ebrake won't jam into the side of my back, or destroy the driver seat getting in lol

x2. 5'11 as well, it's also quite a challenge climbing out lol

The easiest way for me to get in was to step in with my right foot in front of the accelerator pedal, and then in one motion bring myself into the seat.

Getting out is easy if you do it right. tongue.gif All you have to do is take and swing your legs out to the side while rotating your body, and then just stand up.

I'm 6 feet and 175 lbs and seating comfortable. I have somewhat narrow shoulders for now but any taller than 6 feet and I'd see it a hassle I removed my sunroof cause I kept hitting my head on it with the bottom seat cushion all the way up

not usre if the 94-95 celica's have the adjustable bottom seat but for sure the 96-99 do

6' 220lb I "fit" ok but I feel really close to the ceiling if I ever get into a crash. I wish I could get seats that sit just 2" shorter it'd be good.
I'm pretty laid back in the seat and yet my knees aren't too far away from the dash.

Taller people have modified the seat rail before to get another few inches, there should be a topic on it somewhere around here. Being knot-kneed my left knee was in the door panel and the right one into the dash console.

6'5"....Fit is ok, knees ride the steering wheel a bit. Headroom is OK i guess. It would be nice if the seat went back a bit more though. Other than that its a pretty comfortable ride, ive made 700+ mile trips in it on more than one occasion.

5'8'', I have plenty of space above my head. I sit straight and not slanted towards the back. I've gone through some serious bumps and I still don't hit my head on the roof....people on the back.....well I'm glad I'm the driver.

Another thing about being a bit tall is that when I'm releasing the clutch if I were to bring my knee straight up it would hit the steering wheel just about where the friction point is. So right as I let the clutch out I'm sliding my foot off the side of the pedal and that makes it sometimes hard for me to release the clutch smoothly.
When I have some money to spend I want to look into the options for buying some different seats I think that would improve the situation a lot.

Hmm, try tilting the wheel up some and/or turning your foot out a little. Of course with how my knees are I have no choice but to have my foot turned out and I'm more likely to rub the door panel than to hit the wheel. Central seating would solve all my problems, if only it were more commonplace. tongue.gif

I'm 6'1" tall, and have tons of room in my '97 convertible. I almost bought a 2015 Miata last week, but my Celica handles better, and has more room.....and is paid for. biggrin.gif

I wonder if the convertibles have more headroom. They certainly don't have a thick top.

Hey Box biggrin.gif Stock, the Miata has way too much body roll. My Celica GT is the flattest car I've ever driven, and my wife and I look for twisting roads on our weekend trips. I turned into a Taco Bell at 40 mph once...LOL! Having said that, I take pictures of every parked Miata I find, and we're still looking for the One.

You might be happier with the NB Miata from 1999-2004. The NC is hit and miss even with the Miata fanatics. The NA from 1990-1997 is more "pure" in the roadster sense. Personally the NA6 from 1990-1993 is too crude for me, would like to give the NA8 a chance though.

Supposedly 5'10" is the average height for men, but it seems I'm always the shortest guy around here. Honestly I'm ok with it, I fit into all the cars I like. tongue.gif
