so yesterday i had just finished washing and detailing my car when my friend came over with his Subaru. we both thought it would be a good idea to go out and take some pictures, since our cars looked relatively good biggrin.gif .

So we both got into our cars and after a short bit of driving around aimlessly looking for a nice scene to shoot on we came to a stop sign. my buddy made a right onto the street and i followed we continued down the road for about a mile or two when i noticed flashing lights in my rearview rolleyes.gif . Needless to say i about shat myself all i could here in my head was my mom scolding me for my heavy foot, i thought i was going to have my first speeding ticket. but when the cop came up to my window he told me i rolled through the stop about a mile or two back.

I could not believe it 109.50 is what i have to pay for these stupid pictures now laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I was driving on the highway going 60 in a 55 and was cut off by a car pulling onto the highway.

It's a 2 lane highway so I changed lanes to avoid hitting him and sped up because another car had pulled out in the other lane (the one I was in now).

After passing the first car that had cut me off and getting in front of him to avoid the other one (they were both doing between 30 and 40), I see lights in my rear view.

I'm thinking... good, he'll nab these morons for nearly killing me........... damn wrong.

I received 3 tickets and had never had a violation before.

One for tailgating, one for unsafe lane change, and one for improper passing cause I'd passed the car on the right.

Needless to say next time I won't be avoiding an accident to incur $800 worth of tickets.

i think my first one was when i was going to freshman orientation when i was starting school at UNC Charlotte. girl was crossing the street and walked into my car, and SUPPOSEDLY i ran over her foot. by the time i got home (2hrs away) got a call from charlotte police saying i was involved in a hit and run and i had to go to court. she walked to the on campus police station and showed her foot. he said she had a red mark on it..

my second one was speeding while on the way to go to court for the first one! lol

I dont understand why everyone thinks this deserves to be locked, YES he did something unlawful on the streets (and it was NOT street racing) but he was fined anyway, its not like cops are going to search the forum and fine him a second time, he did wrong and got in trouble for it.

Whats the harm in this thread? 6GC is really going downhill... kindasad.gif

My first, and only ticket was 65 or so in a 35. learned my lesson after that ~$250.

You guys are acting like the guy committed murder and is announcing it on 6gc or something. rolleyes.gif

I know, the avatars are funny, trust me, but its been getting on my nerves recently. Any thread people think are retarded or stupid just get ibtl posts and then actually end up being locked for all the nonsense that people post.

I'm glad you agree, Piro. I dunno its just this kinda stuff that's making me visit this site less and less. Endless bashing and bickering, no one is getting along at all.... So much for a "community" frown.gif

I can see locking if it's a "look at what I did!" thread, as opposed to the "being stupid cost me this much" thread.

In my case, first and so far only ticket, about a year after I bought my Celica. Doing 120 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, at 3 a.m. The police cruiser was the only other car I saw that night. Guy was nice about it, little lecture then he told me since it was my first ticket he'd knock it down to 110 km/h on paper -- in my province the fines increase for every 20 km/h over the limit, and more than 40 km/h gets an unsafe speed citation as well.

I actually like the idea of graduated fines. The stupider you are, the more you pay. I read a story shortly after that about a woman who managed about $1,500 in tickets in one drive and enough points to lose her licence. Something like 80 km/h over the limit, plus a whole lot of weaving without signalling, etc.

My first ticket ever..I'm looking at the handout right now haha 6/17/09

I was going 76 in a 55 on a highway in Indiana. I was on the entrance and saw a long line of semis in the right lane so i sped up so i wouldn't have to slow way down and wait for them to pass..well, i passed them and flew under the overpass. There was a cop sitting right behind the support of the overpass. I was pulled over immediately..and i was about TEN FLIPPING YARDS FROM THE 65 SPEED LIMIT SIGN!!! needless to say, he wrote me down in the 55 and said i have to maintain the speed limit while passing other vehicles..good one officer.

230.55 ticket...good stuff..
there goes my exhaust and muffler idea for now..

Man my 1st ticket in the celi happened yesterday on the 4th. What sucks is I never drive my celica it seems like I am working to much or the car is broke. Well I finnaly had time yesterday and the car was fixed for about 2 weeks an I never drove it since the repair. Well After driving about 5 minutes in traffic on a hwy. I was doin about 60mph the speed limit waqs 55mph. I saw a opening inbetween the car in front of me an open road so I went to pass legally as I passed at about 65mph I decided to floor it because I had not drove the car an missed the pwoer in it I gues thats why I floored i It pulled so hard I loved it then I shut it down an went back to the speed limit. Wellthey happened to have a cop that was in the on coming traffic behind a car as I passed into hisa lane he was about half a mile back a good ways. I noticed him as I passed the car in front of me an did not thnk he saw me. Well I see him pass and he whipped a uturn coming up on behind me and the car I had passes. I knew he wanted me. So I pulled over waited and he says to me you was doin 74 in a 55. Now I was thinking how did he radar me when I seen a car in front of him that had to block his view an radar an he was so far down the hwy. I think he made the radar mph up because I did not hit 74 mph I think. Well I am fighting this ticket its my first in the celi and 2nd ever and I am 28 so thats not to bad of record. I dont think theres no way he radared me with the car in front of him and it was a big suv so his view was blocked. Can cops make these things up? or can they radar though things?

Not too sure about Louisiana, but in Illinois, you have a legal right to see the radar gun to see what they actually clocked you at. But a lot of cops won't like you for asking and they'll find other stuff to write you up for since you're calling them a liar to their face. Best thing you can do is either pay the ticket without argument, which isn't a bad idea in this case since the cop decided to not write you up for reckless driving, or take him to court over it. Most cops won't show up if you take them to court over a speeding ticket, and by default, you win if they don't show up. But that's risky. I'd advise you to just pay it.

Take it to court.

I remember I was coming home from a friends, and it was around 2am. So I go to make a right turn at the stop sign, but I forgot to signal. Cops get on my tail real quick. I was like man I'm screwed. So he comes out and looks at my car. The front drivers side was real messed up and the headlight was out too!. frown.gif So he says you turned without signaling. Then he says what happened to your car? I said I got into a car accident with an undercover fbi... (bad idea) The cop looks at his buddy and they both start cracking up like theres no tomorrow. kindasad.gif I said I was serious! So at this point they think I'm a drunk black kid driving wrecklessly at 2am! They pull me out, have me sit in the back of the cop car and then they searched my car. They found nothing so they lemme go home in peace and just gave me a warning. smile.gif

The End

Then you need to learn your rights, they have NO right to search your car without a warrant or reasonable cause. Unless you had a bong/baggy/pipe/whatever sticking out somewhere, they had absolutely no reason to search your ish, so they were being totally unlawful about it.

1st (and last!) ticket was in 1999, doing 85 in a 55 on Memorial Day weekend on I-84 in Eastern Oregon (WAAAAY redneck) and still had my NY plates. To this day I think I was singled out for having NY plates; I was following the flow of traffic and actually realized how fast I was going and got into the right lane to make myself slow down, knowing that Mem. Day wknd is a big one for cops. 5 miles later I get pulled over by this asshole State Trooper with a chip on his shoulder who clocked me before I'd slowed down. If it wasn't 6 hours from Portland, I'd have gone back and fought the ticket. I was going the speed limit well before he pulled me over.

Other than a slew of parking tickets when I worked in downtown Portland a few years ago, I haven't had any tickets since. (now that I've said that I'll totally get nailed on my way home tonight kindasad.gif )

I got a fix it ticket as I detailed my car when I first got it, removed rear lights, license plate, side markers, n my spoiler just so I could see if there was any dirt or rust anywhere that the guy hadn't disclosed. Anyways, I kept detailing and stuff until night came and continued inside my garage when I get a phone call from my roommate saying she just got into an accident and needed to get picked up. I got my keys and hopped in and forgot the lights lol, so I put em back on and rolled out. I was going down the 60West and picked up my roommate and headed down to Puente Hills mall where her mom was gonna meet up. On our way there I got pulled over for no license plate. Lame. I had a front one, but I was less concerned about the plate than the lights haha. Not very thrilling, just lame as heck.
