I am un-willing to pay $180 for a strut brace from Cusco. That's a load of money for a part that is worth no more than $100. If you custom made your strut bar, how did you do it? Also, are you happy with it?

I made both a front and a rear... refer to http://home.earthlink.net/~kwanza26/picts-stuff/celica for pictures...

The front is made from a Corolla front bar, bought cheap from ebay. Basically, you need to re-drill holes and bend the mounts a bit to to fit the celica. I plan to completely re-do the mounts soon... in one of my pictures, you can see the mounts are pretty mashed up in the front... but it clears the brake fluid reservoir but it does touch the hood. I wish it would have been a straight bar so it can clear the hood also, but it's a curved bar. Handling performance, coupled with the rear bar is very noticeable.

The rear bar is made out of a toyota matrix front strut bar, again bought from ebay. The mounts were completely re-done. Re-drilled one hole, cut, and ground to bits...in order to fit. It's not a very easy task... but it's a cheap alternative. I can provide more exact details... but it will take me a while to cough it up. I didn't plan/write anything down. Just kinda jumped in and made work with whatever I had...

Very happy with results... honestly, I don't get the serious fuss with 2 point bars... they all work the same, so why pay a few hundred for a "CUSCO" when you can chop one out for 1/10th the price...

I would go with my front and rear bars anyday. Yes...it cost me 400 for both. But they look soooo much more professional and they are made of better material. I also like having the cusco name. But that is just me.

The front suspension is all the same on all of the Matrix models... so it doesn't matter considering there's only one generation of the Matrix... ;]
