I thought we had one? Well after visiting a few fellow 6gcers pages, I have noticed my brothers and sisters have some good taste in music. I love my Electronic music, but now it is getting to the point I am a bit on the old side. I just listened to The Horrors - Sheena was a Parasite, and loved it (The trippy video on youtube helped). Not exactly the type of music I prefer, but now I want to hear what else you guys are listening to out there. Even Chris had Tokyo Police Club on his rally video and I didn't even know I liked that song, until I seen the video.

So anyways, I thought we had a music thread of what you are listening to at the moment as a "Favorite Song" that maybe you can share. Some of us DO dig what you're into.

I'm mostly into trance nowadays. Armin van Buuren, DJ Tiësto, Ian van Dahl, Paul van Dyk, Foggy, DJ Encore, Above & Beyond...really too many to name.

But I also enjoy rock, alternative, hip-hop, rap, etc. Anything really besides most forms of classical and jazz.

I can't find the right version (the one I have is a minute longer), but this is one of my favorite songs right now.

Is that the thread you were talking about? I'd tell you what I listen to, but so far I have two posts here and I doubt if either of you guys have heard of the stuff I listen to lol. Faust, I know we've talked about this before. 808, I have no idea what you listen to, so I'm still hesitant to post up. Perhaps I'll edit this post later. But just to say... It's anything by SafetySuit. Those guys are amazing. Never heard of them?

http://www.myspace.com/safetysuit

It's worth a listen. I normally only recommend them to people I know will like them, but there are a lot of people on this forum so there might even be another SafetySuit fan on here. So far everyone I've had listen to them has ended up liking them very nearly as much as I do.

Let me get another sub in my car, then I'll listen to some electronica for you guys, just so I'm not being completely closed-minded.

Yeah, I know it's old. But I'm just starting to pick up trance recently, so all my stuff is really from pandora (online music station). I would have had more access to it in Europe, but I really should've gotten into it earlier.

That's pretty good. What did you use to make this? It sounds like some parts were used by Reason (the drum kits and the synths), the strings sound like it might have come from something else.

Wow really? Ok, I can see that now. The snares do sound a bit distorted, but like in a sense of whatever was giving the output couldn't handle it. It's not bad though. But if you get your PC running, I recommend using Reason, you get such a more cleaner sound.

Cheers Luke.

RS, the quality is a bit lower naturally than a PC but the distortion is down to the actual video. Its pretty crystal on my CDs at home. Its just the overall reverb effects that it suffers mainly. Most of the samples are 44khz.

Oh ok, that makes sense. I never played part 2 of that game, only the first one that came on the playstation 1, and even then, even though they were mostly sample loops and not so much sound manipulation like you would find on even the most basic of programs such as Fruity Loops, I have heard a few tracks that used those loops in pro material.

Is Albeton that good of a program? I had it on a disc and never used it, then I ended up tossing it out without really thinking about it and I wish I had not. I Have old school Acid 3.0 and just Fruity Loops now, because my "not so official" version of Reason failed to reinstall the second time on my old computer after reformatting, and couldn't get my hands on another copy. Even now that I have gotten so much better, I simply ran into a bit of a problem now.... I can't complete a song anymore and my style has changed into something...... odd? LOL Anyways, good luck on future tracks. You don't have a page that displays all your songs? Such as a myspace music profile or anything?

oh yeah, by the way, I have a friend named Sound Asylum or Dj Siio, not sure which name he goes by now and I hardly talk to him online anymore (because I rarely run my messenger), but that guy is really good at trance. Problem is, he doesn't believe in himself. I believe he is on Acid Planet, that is where I met him back in 2002, as we all posted our music on there at one point in time. LOL

Castles In The Sky, you don't like that song? It's amazing. Haven't heard much else from them, honestly...or AnnaGrace, as they're called now.

I miss the European trance scene. frown.gif

And for any tranceheads out there, check out this guy. Name's DJ Evolve and he spins what he calls make-you-drive-fast core. Basically, hardcore trance.

See, that's called Hard Trance? The time I come from, that's called Happy Hardcore (but like the newer stuff it turned into, not like the stuff from early 90's). I get a bit of harsh talk from UK people who say, NO! This is UK Trance! But go listen to Happy 2B Hardcore, from chapter 6+, it's the same $#!T! People don't admit to liking it, because it is a bit cheesy, but it sounds good for night driving and the like. ANything, in my opinion, that is 150BPM is some type of Core music, lol. But then you get Hardcore Techno (my favorite was Omar Santana for that genre), and then you get what is called or was called "Gabber" which would be people like Ron D. Core.

*sigh*.... so many sub genres in the electronica side.

Actually going back to the Anabolic Frolic mixes of Happy2BHardcore, I am going to go as far and say about Chapter 3 is when it started sounding like that, and so on. (Those were the only good CDs in that genre you could find in the states, so....)

Okay, I thought it could've been happy hardcore, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification.

And for the record, my all-time favorite song is most likely Alice Deejay's Better Off Alone. Does not get better than that. thumbsup.gif

I had that same problem a while back. But I realized that down at the bottom, there's a little search bar that restricts what you see to a certain amount of time. So when I search, I always set that to "forever" instead of "last 30 days."

See, I'm really glad I didn't post up in here because everyone is talking about techno and trance and my music DOES NOT belong in here tongue.gif

Hahaha that reminds me... There was about a week once when I called my car the Death Star (it was black and I had hit and killed a deer the week before) so I drove around with The Imperial March playing... Good times.

LOL

Ableton is a very good package. Great sound quality and pretty easy to use.

Yeah with MTVMG2 you can do quite a bit, you are limited in many ways but there is enough to keep me going for now. I dont have a My Space page yet as not really got a lot of time as i have a little girl i look after when im not working. The 4 tracks on my YT are perhaps my best, ive learnt a lot in the last 6 months and now my older tunes feel a tad basic.

If you have a page feel free to PM me with it, id be happy to have a look.

A have a mate called pillagemyvillage. He is the best i know at trance, his stuff is also PS2 but he is about to start working with more pro software. He is a lot better than me. His stuff is on YT.

I do admit choco, its a guilty pleasure. =P

I just started listening to them, and another group called 'The Mountain Goats.' My friend and his wife wanted me to learn 'First Day of My Life' to play at their wedding recption this upcoming fall.

My favorite band, however, would have to be Two Gallants. They play some deep stuff, really just a two man band and for some reason I like the folky/bluesy kind of stuff lol. But I do listenin to different DJ mixes. N.A.S.A. Is tight, Bloody Beetroots are the shiz, MSTRKFT, and Death From Above 1979 (they broke up and one of the guys went to MSTRKRFT I believe).

Hey guys, I have a funny story, I am so excited. Ok, I found this song called "Shake this Disease" by Depeche Mode... Now before I start, I thought I would let you in on the song.

Now how did I seek this song not knowing who it was by or what it was called and being off on the lyrics in search? Easy. LOL I watched an adult film that took place in a club, and they always play cool music in the background, usually 80's new wave or anything related. So doing a search and just going through songs of Depeche Mode, trying to match up the voice I heard in that song, I found it! So now I feel completed and I am excited as hell.

So what's the moral of the story? Um.... Sometimes Adult films have cool music? I dunno. LOL

My favorite song right now is a tie between Nevermore - "Sentient 6" and Zero Order Phase - "Cashmere Shiv".

Both songs composed by Jeff Loomis, the greatest guitarist this generation has to offer. Sentient 6 is very doom and gloom, but it is just so well composed and the simple touch he does on the guitar and piano are just... perfect yo.

Cashmere Shiv, total heaviness wrapped around more heaviness.
