Just wanted to see who all would be down for a meet somewhere in the midwest, I never really hear from anyone except people on the coast. Maybe meet at world of fun, okaboji or the ozarks.

Where exactly is Worlds of Fun at? I'm roughly two hours east of St. Louis. Kinda interested.

alright if st.louis will bring more people then let's do st.louis. Is anyone from St.louis or near that area that knows of any good places where we could meet up and hangout. Would you all want to do a grill out, maybe play some ultimate frisbee and football, then go on a cruise? I'd most likely stay the night down there since I live around 7 hours away, if anyone's looking to stay overnight i could book a room and we could split the cost.

Wow that looks like it would be a great place, anyone in that area that can confirm that this place would be a good spot? Also a date would need to be decided upon, are we looking at late spring or early summer or what? I don't think i would be able to go anytime soon due to school starting and work.

I'm down for the Lou around then. I probably wouldn't stay the night, and I'd leave around 11 p.m., but I would be there for sure. That looks like a pretty good place.

I'm from the area too, but im on the IL side. I'm up for a meet, but I've never been to Klondike. It looks like its really close to Augusta which has a really good winery.
Other ideas, I know that the river road from Alton, IL to Grafton, IL is a nice drive with the river and the bluffs (plus I drive it every weekend during the summer). Lots of bikers take that drive too.

There's also the Midnight Madness at Gateway Raceway where you can drag race your car if you want ( I don't do that, my car is slow). Its typically pretty crowded though.

Also, a while back redrocket (from the celicatech) was trying to put together something in Forest Park. That'd be cool too.

Just throwing out ideas. But I'm up for some kind of meet.

Alright well if we want this to happen someone needs to take initiative and pick a place and date when we are going to go, I do like all ideas so far, the race way is a bit much if you ask me, I doubt anyone will race their celica unless its us racing each other. The drive sounds cool, im down for a cruise. Everyone post what you think will be the best idea, and well all decide, i wish there was a poll option on here.

well, to be honest, I don't know how much time I'll have to help plan something. Friday I found out that my wife and I are pregnant and will be due in April. So I'd rather not have to shoulder the load of planning. Though I'm willing to help. And I just wanted to throw out what few ideas I knew of.

So the plan so far is to have a two day meet? Or just a really long one day meet, some people with longer drives stay the night, and we all disperse the next morning? My cousin has a house in Alton, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm staying the night or not. I probably won't pay to stay in a hotel room or cabin when he lives that close.

Someone should invite Fastbird- he's not far from St. Louis at all.

Alright. I was going to check out his car last time I was in Alton, but I didn't have enough time.

Bit of bad news here... I may be able to pull it off, but more than likely my parents are going to make me drive our Camry. They don't like me driving that far in the Celica since it's got 165,000 miles and hasn't proved itself to be the best car in the world. I trust it to get me to St. Louis and back, but not to either of the coasts, for example. Any time I drive more than an hour away, I always have to take our Camry, just because it's brand new. I'm not complaining, because I love that car, but I want my Celica at a Celica meet. If this meet was happening tomorrow, I could bring my car for sure. But by next year, it will probably have over 200,000 on it. Yeah, I drive a lot. 4,000 miles a month this summer, with the worst being 7,000 miles in 30 days. And now that I'm going back to school, which is an hour away, I'm guessing the miles are going to be coming even faster. So I'll more than likely be driving our Camry, but I'll beg on my knees if I have to.

As long as you take care of that Celi, you want have any worries. You can drive it into the dirt and back(but take care of it).

you must beat on that thing if you dont trust it at 165k miles biggrin.gif , i hope you do convince your parents man, and if that fails just tell them your going to tow it with the camry laugh.gif , alright so st.louis area sounds like it's the best place. I think I'll be staying over night and then leaving the next morning because I don't want to drive down there hangout for a few hours then drive 8 hours back home. If anyone thinks they'll be staying overnight let me know and I'll see if my dad could get us a discount at a hotel through his work, or at least setup a room or 2 for us at a motel 6.

Hey freddy, I will be staying overnight myself. I have family there, plus I am not driving 7 hours back home myself. I can get pretty good hotel discounts as well. Working for Uncle sam does have it's benefits...LOL

I don't beat on the car. I drive it like a granny! Find me another member on here who consistently gets 30 mpg from their GT lol. Not CLOSE to 30, like 27 or 28, I mean 30+. I do my best to take care of the car, because the guy who owned it before me didn't. I'm STILL fixing this thing up, after 2.5 years of owning it. I keep giving up on it and trying to sell it, only to realize that I really don't like anything else enough to borrow the money for it. Anyway, Celica or not, I'll more than likely be at this meet, and I'll probably stay overnight, but I'll crash at my cousin's house in Alton. Staying overnight will increase my chances of bringing the Celi. My stepmomma doesn't like going without her Camry for too long hahaha

St. Louis sounds good to me! I will have the suspension completely done and hopefully some nice wheels.
Early to mid June sounds like the best time, for me anyways.

I'm def down for this meet... I NEVER get to chill with 6gen people in Indiana, or ever for that matter, ha. I know nothing about the St. Louis area so I wouldn't be much help in planning, but I'm willing to try to help with whatever if it's needed. I really want to see this thing come together!

Oh and Richee3... your celi situation sounds a lot like mine... I have 167k on mine and was a little iffy about driving her on a 1200 mile round trip a couple of weeks ago, but she purred the whole way there and back -- even over the mountains in WVA. The only problem I had was that somewhere along the way my halfway broken antenna flew off. laugh.gif Anyways, if she's in good running condition and you take care of her she'll prob make the trip just fine. I hope the ol' rents let you bring her! But if you can't, at least you'll get to bring a new camry and not some kind of fugly granny car wink.gif

haha nice man, keison if you could figure out what hotel is close to there where you get a discount at, let me know, i'll room with you and we could split the cost. Richee I get 35-36mpg city in my GT I drive so slowly smile.gif its all about how fast you accelerate. Lets just say I've had old people pass me before but idc im saving money. Also that park looks nice, not to big, not to small. Good photo opportunities, and if we get bored we could just go drive somewhere else its not like we have to stay there.

I'm up for Klondike too. I've never been there, but that area is very rural and isolated. It should be pretty cool. I say the sooner we nail down a time and place, the better.

I'll more than likely be bringing the Celi, and a semi-crappy camera. I won't miss an opportunity for some good pictures, since I have none of my car lol. It won't be the best looking car there, but it's not too bad either.

that-one-girl, since you aren't familiar with the St. Louis area, I'm right along the way between South Bend and St. Louis. I'll just meet you somewhere and caravan the rest of the way.

And Freddy, that's some pretty impressive gas mileage! The best I have seen with my car is 33 mpg. The worst I have seen is when I really granny-drive the car- mine HATES when I shift before 2,000 rpm. I have also noticed that I get better gas mileage at 70 than at 60, which seems counterintuitive since the motor is screaming at 70. Oh well lol

my car is an automatic, the gearing is different than a manual,it has 4 gears, i get my best gas mileage at around 60-65. Keison yea just pm me when you figure stuff out, anyone else that will be spending the night let keison know, im sure we could find a room for 4 if need be. I'm excited that weekend works for me too. So Klondike June 12-13 is what we're planing on, anyone is welcome, celica's are not mandatory but it would be nice if you did bring your celica's for taking pictures. Let's plan on meeting there around noon-ish if that works for everyone, hangout, meet one another, take pictures, go drive around. Bring whatever you think would be fun to do like a football, frisbee, etc. we also have to decide on what were gonna do for a bbq im assuming were doing a bbq. does this park have built in grills, and what are we grilling? post up what you think would be good.

And Freddy, the automatic will do that for you haha. I had an ST auto, and 34 mpg was nothing in that car. I miss getting that kind of gas mileage, but my consistent 30 isn't bad. As of right now, it's assumed that I will be bringing the Celi, but I was just throwing a heads-up that I might have to bring the Camry. But a Celica meet wouldn't be a Celica meet if none of us drove out Celicas, would it? tongue.gif

I'm pretty sure there is going to be a meet for sure, unless something happens and none of us can make it, so you'll have to let us know if you'll be in the area! And thanks, that's nice to know that if anything happened, you guys would help me out. I'm not that far from St. Louis, and my cousin may actually be at his house that weekend (it's just his house for school- he actually lives here by me.), so if for any reason the Celica won't make it home, I won't be stranded. It's just a matter of convincing my parents of that. No biggie! I've been up against worse odds.

I'm all for helping to get this going. But I have no clue if I'll be able to make it. It'll probably come down to not knowing untill the night before, or maybe even that morning. Its not on purpose, but by mid June I should have a 2 1/2 month old baby at home, so if momma says I stay, then I stay.

Just keep us up on what has been done to get this going. and let us know what you need a hand with. It looks like pavilion rental is something like $40-$60 depending on how many people we have showing up.

So it's looking like $40 apiece? Sounds good to me.

No, Its $40 for the pavillion rental. so that could easily be split between everyone coming. I haven't called or anything, so I don't know if the prices on the site are current, or if someone nearby can get a 'resident' discount or something.

So I called the park, I can make a payment online to reserve the shelter for the 12th for the whole day would be 40$, I can make the reservation no problem, parking is only available if you rent a shelter and it would be on the shelter site. Before I make the reservation I just want to know how many are coming, I'm sure a small shelter would suffice for us. I'm assuming maybe max of 20 would show. Get the word out to everyone, I'd like a lot of people to show. So let's figure meet at the park around noon on the the 12th. We need to figure out who's bringing what, I'll bring a camera to take pictures. I have a good feeling we'll have a good turnout though.

Just got pm from Stl95Celica and got on the thread. I didn't know there were this many people from the Midwest, as it seemed like most members were from Florida or California, but I am new around here. I just purchased my Celica in June, and it had front end damage (bumper, hood, radiator support, etc..) so I have been anxious to actually drive the thing all put together, so this meet next June might just give me an excuse for a road trip.

Although, we are expecting our second child in late December, so like Jimmykay, I will have a 6 month old and a 2 year old at home, so road trips may be out of the question, but let's hope I can get out for at least a day or two here or there.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and I will put it on my calendar for June 12-13, 2010. Thanks.

whatever you think would be fun, drugs, hookers, etc. laugh.gif , no like a football, a camera for taking pictures, a frisbee, if anyone is staying over night I'm probably going to catch a game of golf the day after before I drive back home, I like experiencing courses not around my hometown, not for certain yet though. Also food is another thing, I think a bbq would be best, but we should cruise and stop at a bakers or some food store and buy whatever so its fresh and doesn't go bad on the trip there, 8hrs in my case.

$40 for the entire day isn't bad at all.

As far as the food, I only live 2 hours away so whatever I could bring would still be fresh, but it makes a lot more sense to get there and see what all we need, such as charcoal, how many burgers/hot dogs/buns/etc. we'll need and then go do some shopping. Would we be doing both lunch and dinner, or just a meal in the middle of the day, or what? And I guess, what time would we all be disbanding at night? Would we need night entertainment or would we all be heading our separate ways?

I'm really looking forward to this meet. Fastbird is the closest member to me so far as I can tell, and he's still 2 hours away.

I think its best to just head down there the 12th and play it by ear, as far as food and whatnot. It'll be a fun time for sure, but if anyone has ideas of stuff to do let it be known, we have 9 months to plan this so we have plenty of time.

I would say for people travelling a bit of a distance for the meet to make it a weekend, and hit the St. Louis tourist stuff like Six Flags, the Arch, etc.

confused.gif Six Flags is a tourist attraction?

How about City Museum? There's nothing like crawling through tunnels of rebar 50 ft. in the air to remind you that you're not a kid anymore.

do you realize how much farther of a drive that is for me? thats a 8 hr drive compared to a 6hr drive, i mean if more people would be willing to go to that instead of what we have planned i'd go but this is for all those who can't make it to the meets around the coast and can't travel very far. I'd prefer celica's only too, i mean yea i love toyotas in general but the whole purpose of this is for people that we meet on here to meet up and talk and have fun for a day.

I would like to go to the Ohio meet as well, but St. Louis is only 2 hours from me and Ohio is significantly further. As a destitute college student, I probably shouldn't drive to Ohio lol

I think it would be awesome to go to the Ohio meet though. Supras, MR2's, all kinds of different Celicas.. It will be a good meet, no doubt. But I just don't have the money to drive there. I'm working 3 days a week for minimum wage. Driving to school is eating up the money I do make. I need several hundred dollars in the next few weeks for stuff like my insurance license, September's phone bill plus I'm switching wireless providers so I'll need money for that too, and half of my paycheck goes to gas. I guess it's a good thing I don't have a girlfriend at the moment lol

it'll be more laid back, and you'll be able to get to know people better imo
