Hi guys, ok i just had a few questions i was wondering about... First off, i see on ebay and websites that specialize in swaps, that they have say the JDM 2nd gen 3stge at 225hp. I was wondering if there is any way to identify it as the actual jdm version instead of the usdm 200 hp 3sgte so i dont get played like a flute. Also, is the JDM tranny that comes on some swaps with the jdm engine, is that an lsd tranny? and if not, where could you get one cheap? thanks biggrin.gif

Be sure not to buy just the motor, get the front clip. You'll save a lot of time and energy. The 2nd gen tranny is AWD. I've heard to use the 3SGE tranny.

ok the LSD doesnt really have much to do with the tranny as most people think

on GT-Fours (5th and 6th gen) only the rear differential is Limited Slip the front is not

the WRC models have LSD front and back.

so if you got a JDM clip (5th gen) it wouldnt matter cuz you wouldnt be able to use the rear anyway.

the best way to tell if its JDM or not is have them take a pic of the side of the turbo

the USDM 5th gens use the CT26 and the JDM's use CT20B

Thanks everyone... Cuz i found this site www.jspecauto.com and they send a tranny with the engine that is available in awd or fwd. I didnt know if it was all a scam. I wanted to know bout the tranny cuz more or likely you'll need an lsd tranny with that much power on a fwd car correct?

ok well the all trac or gtfour tranny you can not use on your celica GT or ST

its an awd tranmission which needs to be connected to the front and the rear to make the wheels move...if its not connected to either none will spin.

i have a more technical explanation but I think that should be easier to figure out

I (along with many other people on this board) would recommend Jarco.

there website is ttp://www.jarcoinc.com

they are VERY down to earth. easy to deal with and all that crap.

for a tranny i would stick with your stock one unless you go past 400hp or so. most people THINK that they want that much but 300hp should help you spank pretty much anything thats common on the roads.

thanks for the info matt. Yeah ive checked out jarco...but is it me or is their website sorta confusing?? confused.gif Anyway, i knew you could do the whole use the gt tranny deal, but is it an open diff, or lsd tranny? i must sound stupid, its just that this one honda guy put so much hp in his car and he had open diff, and he had to baby it like hell to like 3rd gear just not to spin tires... i just wanted to make sure all my crap was in order.. Thanks for everything though biggrin.gif

if you go to jarco's site and on the left side click inventory it will show you everything that they have

i used to think it was confusing too until i saw that button

then obviously click on Contact Us if you want to buy something. I would recommend calling them.
