I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

at that price i think lexus should have made its own 'supercar' brand. the cost/performance is far beyond normal lexus cars.

limited production of 500 should bump the price, but the only way its hitting 300k is if it goes like stink, we all recall toyotas most recent sports sedan

IS-F...*cough cough*

i read in an article they expected to be around $170k...yet they were going to make it go head-to-head with the GT-R, which is only $65k....wtF?

oh yeah, and i saw in another article they were going to be $700, but i highly doubt that =P

Try $375,000. Only 500 are being made.

Jalopnik is even reporting $400,000: http://jalopnik.com/5386311/lexus-lfa-a-40...+spit-super-car

I say we all just rob Bill Gates and buy ourselves some super cars. Rawr. In all seriousness if Lexus is making a luxury exotic brand they have some real competition out there. Forget about obviously expensive brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini. Try Koeniseg and all those super duper cars that can outrun a rocket. For $400K this lexus better come with a full time masseuse for life, a personal butler, it needs to fly and swim under water.
I would not be able to afford it anyhow so ehh...

I don't get what you guys are complaining about; it's been known since the beginning this car WOULDN'T be a Supra replacement/cheap/made to be sold to just anyone.

Since the first inception when it was a hybrid sports car with 500+ HP to now it's never been assumed to be less than $200,000.

I think it's a fantastic looking car and has been aesthetics than the vast majority of what Toyota's been releasing in the past 8 years.

I, personally, can't wait for this to launch...along with the production FT-86.

I think the point that guys are trying to reach across is... why would a company with already questionable sales due to economic downturn is out there making super cars??? It would be like kia all of a sudden turning around and producing lamborgini-like car.

Part of Toyota's lack of sales, especially from an enthusiast view, is a lack of exciting cars; too many cookie cutter Corollas and Camrys. The LF-A acts as a "halo" car in a couple ways; it's a car that speaks for the brand and provides an elusive image that they've lacked and some/many of the developments procured from the project will slowly trickle into future Toyotas. Even if it doesn't sell really well the fact it exists means Toyota's serious about bringing back excitement and it will get people interested in the brand...even if they can't afford the car, hate the car, or exclaim about the price...it means they're talking about Toyota.

Just my .02 cents.

Toyota is shifting more into the Truck lines now and heavier or more usable vehicles vs the fun and fast cars. The only reason why the corollas and Camry's fail is because they use a lot of parts made in America now and as far as I know we Americans are lazy in whatever we do so stuff eventually fails. tongue.gif

Wait a second...
keiri isn't talking about any kind of mechanical failure on the part of the Camry/Corollas. I have no clue how you made the jump to American made parts breaking more. its about providing a goal for the company. People see these extravagant cars and say, wow, I really want an LF-A, but I can't afford one. But I can afford an FT-86 since its made by the same company and should have the same design spirit behind it.

I personally, would love a new Corvette, but cant afford one right now. And because of that, I have given other affordable Chevy products a second look. Basically, a Halo model like that is more of a showpiece. Your could think of it as a rolling billboard.

I do believe you're talking out your ass.

CEO of Toyota said he feels Toyota is disconnected with its customers, and will put effort into fixing that. Thus, they are coming out with a lot of sportier cars. IE FT-86, LF-A...

lexus is moving into performance without a doubt, their whole gameplan lately has been pushing their IS line and the performance and "thrill of the drive" there is no way you can compare this car to a toyota... its like comparing an NSX to a civic...

PS that car is pure sex

With what Toyota has on market now, it looks like a complete error. I think what your trying to get at is, "how are you going to say this will be called a Toyota, I mean look at their line up, Camry, Corrolla, Rav4 etc etc. How the hell does this car fit in with any of those?" Does that cover it? lol

Answering my own "i think this is what you mean" question, yea it does seem odd. I mean, they haven't produced a real sports car in a while and out of nowhere bam they hit us with a super car that I'm surely 99.9% here will never be able to purchase with such a price range. It fits in with the Lexus line up perfectly, very luxury and the sporty ness has been developing for some time now , so its a perfect fit. Most likely, an L rather then that strange shape will be on the hood.

I've been looking at interior shots of this car a lot lately and think this: It's a highly futuristic design but at the same time very rooted in the past. Just look at the headlamp controls on the sides of the center instrument cluster- Very 80's in mass-use and user aesthetics (my mom's 85 CAVALIER had controls like this!) but style-wise, in this application, VERY modern. I'm going to make a prediction that this car isn't going to look the slightest bit dated 10 years from now. . .
