SO when i got this car it was u-g-l-y as far as paint goes. I didnt think any type of buffing would help this mess but, I finally had some time to try to see if i could make a difference with some hard-core buffing etc, with an electric buffer and 1,200,009 bottles of cleaner, wax, and polish I spent the most time on the hood I was really REALLY shocked with the out come, and you will be too , especially if you are a member that was at the so cal meet and saw this thing in person. I am pleased biggrin.gif this will hold me over until I get my body work and custom paint soon
On the way from Arizona

my dad smile.gif

now....after all that hard work

it was A L O T of work, but I am proud of my self smile.gif

Does look pretty good, congrats.

I assume you used Niteshades on the tails, how many coats?

I did 2 pretty concentrated coats, that stuff works really good

Yeah, it does. I used it on my side markers. By concentrated, you mean thin? My sides came out just slightly darker than your tails, I think.

no concentrated means like thick i did my 7th gen first to see how the spray works, then when i did my 6th gen i did two thick coats

haha well I got your text, but since the picture was so small, I couldn't tell what you were trying to show me, but something told me that if I checked 6gc, you'd have a thread about it haha. I go through a lot of buffing pads when I detail my car so I haven't done it in awhile.

Just for reference, for those who didn't see the car prior to all the work she put into it, here is a before shot. You can she how she did an amazing job on the hood and front end.

Wow very nice. I really like how it looks now, and on a side note I taught I was the only one with that like broken off paint on the passenger side fender.. Lol it looks exactly like the damage on my car since its red and on the side spot and same brown spots . Other then that, you gave me a an excuse to spend more time on my car thumbsup.gif . Time to start buffing.

Yea, I plan to do another run before the next meet, gotta look my best smile.gif I used a 3 step product *not sure of the brand it was in a burgundy bottle, 1st step was "wax cleaner", 2nd step was "polish" , 3rd step was "wax" I plan to do another full run of wax because I don't want to strip away all my hard work until it dulls out again, which it will over time

chances are, it was Meguiars since you said burgundy bottle. They have some good stuff.

Good work, girly! Props for putting some elbow grease into that car to get an awesome result!

you can do another quote of wax. before you apply the wax though, rub the area down with some 1:1 diluted mix of rubbing alcohol and water to remove any present minute dirt particles, then apply wax. Do a section at a time when you do it. Also, rub it down with a diaper cuz microfiber towels cause static electricity that attracts dirt.

I've been told to just use a plush diaper and wipe down with diluted rubbing alcohol, or for finishing touches, use a quick detailer + diaper and do a thorough wipe-down.

It looks much better. However, please know it's all temporary. My paint job wasn't nearly as bad as yours, and while buffing really helped, after about 4-5 days it not only started to look dull, but attracted dirt like a magnet. I couldn't even wipe it off.

Now, your celica is different as the red models had base and clear while my white had single stage enamel, but it will act very similarly.

If you want my honest opinion, you might start considering reapraying the car. It doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to be prepped correctly and taken to a good (hard to find) Maaco.

You're right, but she plans to get the car painted a custom color soon, so this is just to hold her over for now. Sounds like she has got some good plans for it.

I'm also glad I got respond to this before we got people coming in and posting, "Can't you read?" laugh.gif

Thanks, but like I said this is just a "hold over" until I get my custom paint so I don't expect a long term effect nor do I want one, in fact I HATE red on any car. I just want this thing to look good for mainly the next meet so I can look presentable in pictures and no an dull oxidized wreck. So I'm fine with a quick fix smile.gif and was aware that this would be temporary

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, I can read. The question is, do I have time to read everything.. not really. Got my own Celica to work on wink.gif. Time is precious.

Best of luck with the paint job.

Meguiar's Deep Crystal system.

Not a bad setup, but for long-term protection I'd suggest the NXT wax, which is actually a polymer.

What a difference! When I bought my current Supra a few years ago it came from El Paso. The paint was horrible, dull and clear coat pealed off in many areas. After claying and waxing, it turned out much better, but obviously the areas with peeling clear coat still looked bad. It's amazing what a good wax job will do.
