Someone on craigslist can do it so was just curious what yall think
heres a pic of my car

Tinted taillights look good on silver. SwissFerdi just did his. Don't send your lights off to some dude on Craigslist though. You can do it yourself and save a bunch of time and money.

There is tint film on ebay, you can easily just cut it and apply yourself and if you don't like, just peel it off.

I think with that two tone, if you black out your inner headlights, it lines up with the black paint on the hood and could look cool.

^ Craaaaaaaaaaaap...that's tempting.

NO, you can either do it via Nite-Shades like I did (12.99 for a can) or go the vinyl route. However, don't send them out to some guy either way. Just don't. Check my last profile pic for what tinted tails look like (although mine are only tinted and not blacked out like you wanted).

Wet sanded the tails using 600 grit sandpaper; make sure the tails AND the sandpaper are both wet enough. I did three VERY thin coats of VHT Nite-Shades from about 15 inches away. I then threw three coats of clear on (make sure to wetsand in between coats to enhance gloss).

Done.

All good, questions are fine.
Light shows through perfectly, just like stock. I didn't wet sand between any coats, but I should have. Just do the three coats (no wetsanding in between) of Nite-Shades (or two thick coats, it really depends on the darkness you want...I'd recommend spraying something else that's plastic to get a feel for it). Then one coat of clear, wet sand it, then another, etc.

I bought both the Nite-Shades and clear from Advance Auto. I used Duplicolor clear, but I wouldn't recommend it because it is not very glossy. Again, this can be due to not wetsanding between coats of clear.

If you black out your tail lights I'd say black out the number plate surround too so it looks like a continious strip.

I'm thinking about getting a CF license bezel. Not sure if that would work since I have no other CF on my car. Wonder if I could just spray my existing bezel black? kindasad.gif

Don't spray your highs with nightshade, I did this to my old car and when you hit the brights they look red and it's illegal, this is why they want to make nightshades illegal

You can do what I did to my old celica. I took nite shade spray tint and made eyebrows on all headlights... Wish I had pics of it. It will still give you the option to use the highs and lows if u want to and im sure it'll look good on ur car.

I can imagine that cops wouldn't appreciate tinted highs, but how would it show red? That's impossible.

I would black our the highs, but nothing else. Ok, maybe the tails too if you really want to. I think it is fine the way it is though, however, I know how it is wanting to go out of the norm for change, I mean look at me... I got friggin red riser blocks and red rims. LOL

I put yellow film on my headlights. What do you think? But you should put some smoked film on those highbeams, it would look sweet.

It is a yellow film and it is very thick. Looks good and protecs the lights from rock chips. I put it one myself.

I dindnt meen yellow on your lights. Diffently go with a smoked film. I sell it at my shop. The product is called Ricochet you can get it in clear, dark smoke, light smoke, blue and yellow. It is preety easy to install and if down the road you want to change it, just peel it off.

"so would you prefer this over the niteshade or the film you have"

It would depend on the application. headlights are usally smooth and there is little problems with peeling and such. Some taillights are not always as smooth and have some sharp curves and the film tends to peel on some cars. As for our cars I would perfer the film on the headlights, but I would probably use the spray for my tail lights. I will be spraying my taillights, singal lights and side markers, I will post some pics when there are done.

^^^ Good luck trying to find the low beam covers for the 6th gen. They are very very almost impossible to find. They were options with the HIRO package that was offered in Japan specs. Ive never seen them for sale on Ebay before or seen any body on any forum trying to sell them. Even online used JDM parts stores never have them either.

Hey New Orleans, I took a pic of my girls tail lights for you. I cant seem to find a pic of the lighter shade. Let me know what you think.

Like the highs, but where can I get my hands on those covers for the lows?

you dont need covers just windex a credit card, tint vynyl and and a blower(heat gun), on youtube you can find some videos demostrating how to do that wink.gif

Yeah, but the lows dont have any film on them. They have some sort of polycarbonate cover that kind of encloses them.

hey thats an AWESOME idea!, polycarbonate light covers tinted, that way you can put them on on shows car shows and take them off on the road to prevent getting a ticket, and they wont crack because its polycrbonate not plexii, I think i've just found a new job lol, I can manufacture that, and sell different color of covers at an anfordable price, that way we can all make our celicas better looking that would help to motivate people to buy celicas and make a bigger community...and celica only carshows!, AWESOME! thanks spider77 but I cant start messing with my projects just yet I need to buy some cabinets and stuff like that, also materials, and more tools.I already have a little but good spot to manufacture these things
