Did anyone see the Cotto vs Pacquiao fight?
If you didn't here is the basics caution SPOILER first couple of rounds, actual viable boxing match where Cotto and Pacquiao were in a somewhat even match, though Pacquiao was getting the better of it. Next couple of rounds, Cotto was basically a moving punching bag for Pacquiao Last round, same as the other rounds, except the ref stupidly stopped the fight instead of giving Cotto the dignaty of going the full 12 rounds. Real shame that Cotto has that KO on his record now, because he should of been allowed to go the full 12 rounds. All the props in the world to the top pound for pound boxer in the world. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

Ok, first of all, they protect their fighter. I am all about Pacquiao, but if the fighter cannot intelligently defend themselves, they risk brain damage, etc... In which the fight will be stopped. It isn't UFC. That's how things are done, and it protects the dignity of the fighter rather than him saying "I want to quit". Now him running away, was a natural instinct I believe, as he knew he had the power to knock Pacquiao to the mat, however, there was not an opportunity. So his instincts told him to move, as in his mind, he felt it was possible. Manny Pacquiao now holds 7 title belts, which is obvious that he is going into the hall of fame, as many opponents he defeated were/are nominated for the hall of fame. To Manny Pacquiao: Ang galing mo!

I watched it and I think it was worth waking up at 4 am to watch it (I also like watching the undercard fights; props to Rowland for his endurance against JC jr.).
I don't blame the ref for stopping the fight either. Sure, Cotto was enthusiastically back-pedaling, but he must show some fighting back or the ref will just call it. How does one fight someone with the speed and talent of Manny? Pacquio vs Mayweather will be one for the history books. -------------------- ![]() "Remember, amateurs built the ark and professionals built the Titanic. But revolutionaries built the Celica!"- Me |

I actually think Cotto was a tougher match up than Mayweather, for Mayweather, Manny just needs to chase him, which nobody wants to see. He can hit from most if not any angle and still be effective, which is what is needed to outbox Mayweather. If Mayweather were to actually buckle down and give Mosley his fight, I honestly see Mosley demolishing him. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

Mosely vs Mayweather would be a good fight also, but I don't think Mosely would be able to out counterpunch him. Chasing him won't be an issue as Mayweather clearly stood toe-to-toe against Marquez in his last fight.

im sure every one knows that the fight tha screwed Cotto up was the loss against Macarito. after that fight Cotto hasnt been the same. every one i knew was up for Cotto (were all Puerto Ricans by the way) but this fight i could not tell, it was speed against power wich in both sides are very GOOD but Manny i an amaizing fighter but Cotto i belive wont let the loss go plus now that he belives Macarito cheated with his fight to. idk but i would like to see a Manny VS Miguel 2 come up in the near future if not Cotto should retire only because theres no were to go now but down. Whos better than Manny right now??? or atleast would want to fight Cotto? i dont think any of these top guys would want to fight Cotto because i dont think there would be lots of money involved but if he won wushhh.... who knows..... Over all Manny is an outstanding boxer and Cotto the same but i hope the best for both and yes Mayweather Vs Manny would be one for the books.

Cotto cannot get another fight with Manny. Nobody would want to see that because that fight was not epic. It was totally one sided, and I say this with much respect for Cotto. For all the preparation of a big fight, who would want to see that again? We want Mayweather vs Pacquiao, and nothing else.

Yeah that Margarito fight was really a turning point in his carrer. Margarito is a comfirmed cheater, because he was going to plaster his gloves for the Mosley fight. Too bad too because I loved watching his fights. I think Cotto is still a viable boxer and has a lot to offer to the boxing world still, but if he can go back to the top tier and still hang I don't know. I know Cotto was badly hurt in the fight. But I think he needed the stop and wanted to go the full 12. If he had "wanted" to quit, he would of when his team was BEGGING him to quit instead of taking 55 more seconds of brutality. I think he wanted to go the full fight and man it out, like all latino boxers. Manny vs Mayweather is going to be absolutely epic and there should be no reason, no reason at all why it should be delayed anymore. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

Cotto wanted to go all the way but the reff stoped it and his team wanted him to stop but he didnt. and you know what was the most FU**** up part was????? his wife leaving with the kids.... my see in that is leave the kids at home and suport your husband if hes your other and u choose to say "I DO, for sickness and in health" than saty and support him!!! if my gurl did tha idk what i would do. ^^ I can agree with that, but that is still out of the question. Fun to think about, but that's it. If the greatest fighter in the world had stomach problems that fight, that's life. Events happen to fighters outside of their career that are personal. Lots of Filipinos dealing with major issues of weather causing many deaths right now. Such things do affect athletes, however those are the variables that often occur, which don't matter. It is what happens that day that determines who the victor is regardless. What ifs are fun to think about, however, they never took place. Only what happens is what matters when the results are in. Cheating however, is a different topic.

Well, I guess if I was a women and my loved one was getting his own ass handed to him on a golden platter like he was tonight, I probably wouldn't watch it either.
But then again, I'm not and I would of stayed and encouraged. ![]() -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)
