snowed out trip....., fml.... Options

Well, as most of you know, I was taking my cross country trip for work. I went down to chattanooga, tn for my first stop and got my little bit of work done and headed out for greensboro nc. 40 was closed so I had to use the bypass up the 81 to the 26 to the 240. The snow really started coming down when I was starting to cross through the mountains as I crossed the state line to nc. Almost got hit a cpl times, went sideways a cpl times. I finally made it to asheville and on to the 240, getting bumped by other motorists a couple of times. They hadnt gotten to plowing or salt/sand yet. I was having issues with my radiator staying too cold and the temp gauge would drop majorly when I put the defrost on, so I did all this driving with my windows down. I was already sick when I left california, so what, was I going to get sicker? Lol, it was cold though. I slid off the ramp at exit 8 off the 240. Slid through a couple lights. I almost ran into a burger king trying to park(still wasnt salted/sanded/plowed). Called work and they called around to try to find a hotel with a vacancy. Closest one was 2.5 miles by highway, and 7.5miles by side streets. I was walking, so I decided it had to be by non highway. I walked through the ghetto. I was walking down a steep hill in the ghetto and saw a fire engine flip, partially ejecting 1 of the fire fighters. He didnt make it because the truck was half on him. I helped the other 3 guys out of their truck and layed them out of the truck. They are heavy with their gear on. I used their radio to call in the accident and told them where we were and what happened and that the hills were so steep, they needed chains on an suv or awd vehicle to get them out. They finally got a first responder awd suv out there and were only able to get one injured fighter out at a time. I had to make it by dark to my hotel otherwise I was going to have problems, and I needed to get out of the ghetto by then as well. On the second trip for the first responder, they let me hitch a ride for a mile and a half..

Up the steep hill, and out of the ghetto. I still had about 3 more miles of walking til the hotel after they dropped me off. On that 3 mile walk that was left, a car ran into me and now my bad knee is worse and my hip is killing me. It was a crazy night( and the lights were out for a while when I got to the hotel). Any asheville members on here? My computers are in my car so im on my phone. Txt me at 951-552-3156. I need some help if at all possible if anyone has awd or a truck. I just would like to get my car close to me and see what the road conditions are on 240 to 40 all the way to greensboro. I know there are more snow storms coming in so yeah. I dont have the money for more nights here. Anyone one that can look up the conditions from asheville on 240 to 40 til greensboro please text me with the info. Theres one set of big mountains left on my trip and want to know what its like there before I get on the road again. Thanks peeps. Ill post up pics when I get unstuck and have the computer with me. pack itself weighs about 60 pounds...bunker gear is another 50ish depending on the tools they have with them plus body weight...RIP brother

If your job is putting you in these conditions, then THEY should be paying for your room and board. You just saw some incredible/horrifying things, it's the least they could do.

So what's the update? This was like 10+ days ago now. Did you make it back to Cali okay? Are you alright?

Sorry, been really busy with work cleaning up some messes out here, I'm currently in DC and about to head to NYC in the next week, then back to ATL...... I'll be back in Cali soon enough if this working 7 days a week at 18+hrs a day doesn't kill me first(only partial days off I have is when I'm traveling from one location to the next). I've been sick since Dec 13th and it still hasn't gone away, took some stashed antibiotics, which helped a little, but still sick. I'm a little sleep deprived and loopy, so I'll post up something that makes more sense later. Had to Mcguyver the vert fender to my celica cuz in the blizzard in asheville my fender got hit, again. lol, lovely luck, and I'm bout to be done with my company, jackin me around on pay, late on travel reimbursments and just ugh.... anyways, I'm safe, hope all are having a good start to the new year.

Used to, and occasionally do, but not lately, and not regularly enough for me to keep this job. I gotta find something different. Anyone know of any job openings? Real jobs, not fast food and stuff like that. I'm available to move nationwide. I hate Riverside, but do like Cali a lot, never been to Oregon or Washington yet, but would love to see that area.
