The Frankenstein G23
http://www.importtuner.com/tech/impp_0902_...edge/index.html Very interesting build, and even more amazing price. Discuss. (nothing wrong with honda, its more an engine build discussion. U dont have anything good to contribute...dont) -------------------- ![]() Kawi Love |

Great read. I've had more than my share of Honda engine work and I have to admit that they can be potent little motors when done right.
I'd really like to see what that 8.5:1 compression set would do with a big ol' snail strapped to the front of the motor... -------------------- ~bloodMoney

no one else?
edit: And i agree, id like to see it with a turbo, and id like to see the original numbers without the cams and titanium valve springs. This post has been edited by devilsden97: Jan 1, 2010 - 11:41 PM -------------------- ![]() Kawi Love |

Not to sound lame, but as a guy who has very little mechanical know-how, I thought this was damn interesting. I have next to no knowledge about Honda's engines (and frankly don't care
![]() ![]() If I was a Honda guy, you better believe I would be all over this in a heart beat before the prices blow up. Whoever that guy was is absolutely brilliant. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

Whoever that guy was is absolutely brilliant. he was only able to build that engine for less then 2k because he bought alot of used parts for dirt cheap. I highly doubt the average joe with out connections could build a motor that cheap. |

I'm actually really impressed. Tons of power for not a whole lot of money.

When I had my Prelude I read about a guy who did a similar type build for a Prelude. If I remember correctly he built and tuned Honda motors for a living, so his build just used all the leftovers in his shop. It was something similar, a crazy combination of different block, crank, pistons, etc. I think it put down about 245 hp, and it sounded AWESOME. He posted some vids of it on a track, it was sweet. Would love to find the videos of it again, but that was at least 5 years ago so I doubt they're still even hosted.
Either way, takes some awesome skill to build something like this and make it work. I've rebuild motors, and something like this would be a little beyond my own abilities. -------------------- 1999 Celica GT

With this guy laying out a Blue print. (minus small odds and ends. Which are the killers to a project of this magnitude) It really begs the question... "y not go for it?"
and I question the 248whp at $2k. If u read, he added cams, titanium valve springs, ITB's and such making it a $6800 motor build. I would have like to have seen the motor dynoed at its $2000 stage to see if it produced even ~180whp. (because that would be worth it as well for a honda motor) edit: added ITBs This post has been edited by devilsden97: Jan 3, 2010 - 11:39 AM -------------------- ![]() Kawi Love |

My friend just built a b20V with a b16 head all motor in his 1992 eg shell and ran high 13's at the track. he spent around $2000 give OR take and that's not on slicks so he banged out every time. ever since I got my accord with the K24 I have been getting on the bandwagon and stopped my Honda haterz game.

any others?
im beginning to like like the idea of building a USDM B16a2 or B16a3 (found in Civic SI or Del Sol Vtech) or a B18c5 (97-01 integra type R) on a stand, then when its "done" finding a donor car and swapping it in, something stupid like a 4door EF civic or a db1 integra 4door. I guess the reason for it is to tackle it as 2 seperate projects....1 build the motor, then 2 do the swap. idk lol back to topic, i just think its wild that with "scrap yard parts" they built something so potent. -------------------- ![]() Kawi Love |
