Well I finally got around to building turbo pipes. that all went fairly smooth. It was tough trying to figure out the routing, i didnt want to go over the head like most FMIC setups. So i clocked the turbo down and went the way i did.

So on the dyno, I ran into the same issue that the Scion is running into with the AEM FIC. We were hitting a block at 4000 RPM,s the car would just shut off. After a quick run to Radio Shack, picked up some 1K ohm resistors and fixed the problem. ill post pics of that later if wanted. The AEM FIC is a good unit and it works well. i need to go back and finish some fine tuning. im getting a lean condition at throttle tip in.

So with that said and done, i made 176HP and 230lbs TQ at 6.5psi. im on the stock exhaust after the ebay downpipe so i really need to open that up. i plan on upping the boost to about 10psi.

no its a micky mouse BOV. i get the pipe kits from this guy for the turbo systems i build.

http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?S...egory_Code=PIPK

the resistor mod is needed because the toyota sensors are "dirty" there is alot of noise on them and it causes problems. the resistor acts like a filter.

That's a really clean, nice looking build! Is that a custom intake plenum, or where'd that come from? Fuel rail, too, is that a custom rail? What size injectors are in there? Well for that matter, what size/spec everything do you have in there? tongue.gif

The only thing that sticks out as odd to me is the placement of the o2 sensor, but I'm basing that purely on aesthetics. Did it have to go right on top there like that? It just seems kind of haphazard, with the wiring strung across the way it is. Or maybe it's just my OCD being rubbed wrong lol (this is a learning process, so bear with me!)

thats the stock 5S-FE intake manifold, the fuel rail is stock too. im using the RX7 460 injectors, then engine is totally stock. i just rebuilt it when i bought the car.

Here is my FIC MAP

Analog A is the OEM MAP sensor that we are clamping. any small change there and we had to re-tune the fuel map.

is it just me or is your fuel map a bit jumpy. I tend to use the same value across the whole row. I have the FIC for my 7afte also.

One thing....I also have this rather annoying misfire on idle and part throttle (lioght load). Nothing i do cures it. I have changed gaskets, injectors, earth, fuel pressure regulator...NOTHING. What's this with resistors.

I read somewhere that I did not need to adjust timing so I just tapped into it for a reading. I will be doing the resistor mod this weekend and I will rewire to intercept crank signal.

ok, by the by. I will sort the timing out....but this misfire / hesitation is way before boost. even on idle. it's intermittent. car has driven fine for 2 years now with turbo.

All I wanna know is how to do the resistor mod for the 7afe.

Much thanks.

Talking to Jim the other day enlightened me. i guess the factory ECU is really good at controlling knock and pulling timing. i might adjust my MAP a little and not be so conservative on my timing. the big killer is teh cams. as you can see i hit peak power at like 3400 RPM's

well im considering dropping in a ST205 WRC setup in the car. so this all might be moooo like a cows opinion, it dont matter lol

Thats a gen 1 3sge head. Thats what I'm using on my car with a gen 1 3sge sidefeed intake manifold too. The gen 1 and 2 3sgte turbo manifold will bolt right up. If you plan on using the gen 2 3sge head, I believe you can only get it overseas, that will accept the gen 2 turbo and intake manifold. Now if you use a gen 3 3sge head, You will have to use gen 3 turbo and intake manifold. I guess you could use the stock gen 3 3sge intake manifold, but would you want to deal with acis?

But if you just plan on having a fun car and not make 350 horses, why not build up the 5s right?
