I am in the market looking for a new car and my first preference is 4WD... not AWD but 4WD. I don't want SUV's or vans but a sedan type. Does any of you have any suggestions? Only car that I know of is the Skyline that has this feature.

http://carguide123.com/4wd_sedans.html

That seems to be somewhat of a helpful answer. I didn't check to see if it was up-to-date, but it's a good start.

skyline is not 4wd, its awd. you can not make the skyline into 2wd with a flick of a switch.

My knowledge only extends to the US market, but as far as I know there aren't ANY 4wd cars, all AWD. 4wd is usually a feature on a truck. Closest thing you'll find as a factory option is something like the newer STi's with the variable transfer case, which control from 80% rear - 20% front to 50/50 locked.

A system where you could "pull a fuse" to make it RWD isn't good, and I'm guessing is something designed to run AWD: meaning running as a RWD would do damage to the vehicle.

Firstly, semantics considered, skylines(GTR's) are 4wd, meaning all 4 wheels arent always moving at the same time. Hence why the GT4 is AWD because they are all moving at the same time. Next, you can make GTR's (all i know of for sure is the R32) RWD with a flick of a switch by installing a fuse and said switch. Simple and easy, friend of mine has done it to his.

Anywho, if you want a small 4wd/awd car, try one of those daihatsu or whatever they are called. Those little things are funny as hell. Some come turbocharged with 4wd, and are small, but beefy in a weird sense.

I have seen a Skyline with a switch, therefore a 4WD. Its in my mechanics garage. I will take pics when I drop by at his place but for now this will prove that there is a 4WD skyline...

Anyway, I have been also considering the Suzuki SX4 for I have seen them in 4WDs but that thing is just not pretty in the eyes. Any other suggestions?

Anything Subaru? I've been wanting to test a Legacy GT for a while, since i'm starting to look for something with a back seat.

I've also been thinking about the 4wd Fusion / Milan.

Why do you want 4WD but not awd?? Personaly I donno any 4wd cars out there. Smallest 4wd thing i can think of are some of the Kei SUVs/vans from japan. But if you want something AWD and reliable, anything subaru works.

its just a preference... I just want to know if there are any, if there's none then I have my eyes set on an Impreza. I wonder why there are no 4WD cars but lots of 4WD SUV's.
