the colors are: Black and Black w/Red stripe

i want to say...all Black is (-) and Black w/Red strip is (+)

but some have it the other way around....anyone confirm this? i don't want to blow a fuse...

if anyone is confuse, it is the female adapter that sits on the mounting brackets for the front speakers....

There really aren't many stupid questions, but it's still better to ask one rather than risking messing your car up in any way. thumbsup.gif

first hooking up the wires....

then it goes into the hole

this where i mount my cross over amp for the tweeters...anyone else do it differently? i used velcro

Kenwood Exceleron tweeters

almost done...test fitting, another cross over amp came with the speakers...built in tweeter on speakers...

the speaker fitted...

of course...all the testing and locations to place equipment...it only took me a day kindasad.gif ....im exhausted and i found out my driver's side door is loose...the top part with the weather strip...its' very wobbly and isn't sturdy anymore....

all done but i couldn't test it out...why....no deck...it is coming in later...

update pics when deck and sound system working....

just for clarification - speakers don't use current like a light bulb would.. you cannot blow fuses by hooking up wires backwards - if you reverse polarity - then the speaker fires inwards rather than outwards or vice versa - just make sure left and right speakers match of they will be "out of phase"

Nobody seems to agree on this standard, but believe it or not the red stripe is actually negative (confirmed according to my multimeter).

For as long as I've known electronics, since I was a child, the only teachings I've ever had was that the stripe indicates negative.
Wires can be all sizes and colours, Usually it was white with a black stripe, but sometimes a grey stripe, sometimes a white stripe on a coloured wire, could be a green stripe, or a yellow stripe, or any coloured stripe. So when the stripe is red, does this make an exception to the rule? -- No, why should it? it's 1 out of an infinite number of colours, just as by that token positive and negative dont have to be red and black, they can be anything and anything.

It frustrates me when people put red terminals on the ends of a wire that has a red stripe

reverse wiring would basically make the sound crappier. so make sure + and - are correct to get the best sound.
