Well last night I was going down the road at about 55 mph... and hit a deer. I was fine I was just shaken up but my carbon fiber hood, which isnt insured, is broken, and the front bumper, passenger side fender, passenger side door, and the rear passenger side panel is messed up really bad, the windshield is broken to. Most likley the insurance wont cover it.... and I dont have enough money to pay for the repairs, so im just have to sell it as is. Ill try to get some pics up and maybe you guys could help me decide how much to sell it for.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should look into parting it. Depends on your mileage I guess.

And if you do decide to go that route I got dibs on your strut bar, clear sidemarkers, the plastic that goes over the gauges, and the clock.

man....im really sorry to hear that... frown.gif
I came damn close to hitting a deer the other day when i was comming home from my g/f's but thank god i didnt. Theres tons of deer collisions this time of season according to the body shop i went to yesterday, enough to book them up for 4 months straight. rolleyes.gif Best of luck in whatever you decide to do at this point.

By the way, if you part out your car, i call dibs on your rims if you get rid of them. wink.gif

I'm really sorry to hear that Chucky. frown.gif That's really unfortunate, but at least you're ok. Your car was coming together so nicely, and it's sad to hear that now it's probably totalled. frown.gif

Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Noooo....

good to hear that you are OK. Are you sure your insurance will not cover the car? If you had collision you are covered, if not, I am not sure. Try and get some pictures up.

Did you get to keep the deer? I have had roadkill twice before and Mmmm... it's good. tongue.gif

..... Only a bloody Canadian..... smile.gif

My brother and my Dad have both hit a deer in the same place on the same road. (No, we didn't keep them) If he only has liability it will not cover this. If he has full he'll just have to pay a deductable.

But most importantly, damn glad you're okay. You're a good member of this community, and you had a great sixth gen. You made us AT's proud:)

Did the airbags deploy? If so, I would just part it out, thats basicly what totaled mine out.

So the insurance company will think that since the airbags deployed that the car is hit bad enough to be totalled?

frame damage doesnt nesessarily mean totaled. on my old 5gc i rear ended someone and no frame damaged happened nor did the airbags deploy, they gave me 6000 for it totaled and fixed it for 2000 and it had no frame damage smile.gif

no i know it doesnt. but im asking because i can personally do alot of work on the car and would be willing to buy it possably for a good price, if he does decided to sell the car as is, and i can do just about any work on the car, but i wouldnt want it personally if the frame was bent.

I don't know exactly what your car books for, but here is a rundown of about how much the the airbag system will cost you straight from my estimates.Make sure your seated before reading any further, I don't want you to get hurt when you passout from the prices they cost.I would have never expected my car was totaled either. frown.gif

Drivers Airbag $578.45
Passenger Airbag $587.17
Center Sensor $383.95
Clock Spring $221.29
Air Bag Door Passenger $84.20
Front Sensors $54.79 x 2 = $109.58
_______
$1964.64 Parts cost
$242.80 Labor 5.6 Hrs at $38.00 an Hr
$2207.44 Total Cost

Add that amount to the rest of the damage your car took, and it adds up quick.Plus to be totaled, it only has to hit 75% of the value of your car.And if you expect your car will be valued higher than the book value, you better have some recent pics of your car and alot of receipts, adjusters are hard to convince that your car is worth more than the book says.

You can fix it back with those parts used, but goodluck finding a body shop to do it.I found one here locally so far, and he said that he would install it, but not connect it, he said I would have to take it to the Toyota dealership to have them hook it up and check it.$$$$$

You can also just fix the car and do away with the airbag system, but I would think very hard on that one.Is your life worth more than the amount to fix the system? I think so! I don't recommend that option.

I saw a silver 95 ST yesterday with a blown motor you might could use and just swap motors. It's a coupe with black leather. It was'nt a bad car but you would have to decide quickly because they are waiting on the new motor to show up.They wanted $2100 for the car as is, or $3900 with the new motor, but I think you could talk them down some.

Makes you cry, how do you think I feel everyday when I come out of my house and have to see my car that I took so good care of? I just want to bawl like a baby everyday. frown.gif

But things are looking up, I have a lead on another car that I am going out of state to try and buy, so everyone pray that I get there before someone else buys it on my way there.I have been shafted 3 times now with buying a car and someone buys it right before I get to it.

And as soon as I get another car this one is going to be parted all the way out, or sold as a whole. But I got first dibbs on the black leather interior. You guys can fight over the GT motor, 5 speed tranny, the rear discs brakes or whatever else you guys need. tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Damn, man. Its so sad to see another one wrecked. Good luck with a new vehicle, even if it isn't a Celica. I hope the prices to get it fixed are not outrageous for you, but they more than likely will be. Its just a good thing you are not hurt.

im just worried about that 75% thing. I dont think the bluebook is very high for my car considering the mileage and year and everything.... and i already looked at some parts and its like over $3000 for most of the parts... thats not even including labor. and i only have liability on my insurance.

Dude, your airbags went off with that level of damage???

If it was not for the airbags it looks like it would not be too bad of a fix.

Hey, at least you have the hood. From the looks of it, it should not be TOO much. The problem here is that you have many main body parts to fix. That adds up.

No the hood is f*cked. It has come off of the "webbing" stuff on the inside and is cracked right where the deer hit it.

If you can afford to have the airbag system fixed by someone, you could do the rest of the car yourself. From the pictures you posted you just need a hood, passenger fender, passenger door, and a headlight. All that is easy to replace yourself plus you can put on used parts.Just have someone paint it for you once you get everything replaced.

Your bumper cover looks fine, is there any damage underneath the hood?

What parts did you look up that cost $3000? I hope that includes the airbag system parts. If you want to use used parts, I got a good door I will sale.

Looks like your airbag system did the same as mine, it shattered the windshield.I think everybody that has ever had the airbags deploy should group together and sue Toyota.I don't know if they are designed to shatter the windshield to keep the passenger from busting it with their head or not, but they should have installed a key system to shut the passnger side airbag off when nobody is sitting over there.Just think of all the Celica's that are totaled because of the prices for the damage it causes. frown.gif

Well its not as bad as I thought. Although the insurance company wont pay for any of it... I got it appraised at over $3000... which truthfully is a lot less than i thought it would be. But, sicne I have another front bumper, hood, and headlight assembly, all I need to do is find a windshield and fender and it will be around $2000. And as far as the airbags go, im not gonna put any back in... Im gonna get an aftermarket steering wheel and does anybody have suggestions about the passenger side airbag?

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A 'REBUILT' AIRBAG

airbags are dangerous enough as is, the rebuilds can kill.

good luck, I hope you can put it back together.
