Are 6th gens cop magnet????, help me decide... Options

ok, serioulsy I don't get it. For the past year, I've been getting tailed by cops. Not for speeding, or drunk driving or reckless driving or anything. just for driving. yeah, i'm not kidding. It doens't happen often but enough for me to notice and know when it's gonna happen. I'm a pretty good driver, I don't speed that much, I have never gotten a ticket, I just drive to school and back.

What happens is I'd be driving like normal going speed limit and all the sudden a cop would be behind me. I know they're looking at my car. I can see them in my mirror. DUH! so they're on their computer looking up my history already, and then they'd follow me around for at least three or four blocks trying to pull me over for something. the first time, the cop got lucky cuz my license plate lamp was out. but, seriously he followed me for like a mile trying to find something wrong like, huge exhaust or neon lights or something, anything. and when he couldn't he just pulled me over for that.

this has happened at least four or five other times this past year, just they couldn't stop me for anything so they'd back off.
Jump to TONIGHT. I have a project due tomorrow and working late at school with the girly. I take her back to her apartment, then head on home. I stop at a stop light in front of the Police Department. All the sudden I see headlights turn on and a cop cars comes out the parking lot and comes behind me. I see him check his computer and then continue to follow me. I make a turn and stay in the middle lane. I need to get to the right lane but he's there and he won't let me pass. He wants me to overtake him BUT! to do that, i'd have to do at least 35 in a 25, enough to get pulled over. I"m smarter than that so i go 30 and he's head to head with me.... WTF! so i slow down get right behind him and since he can't do nothing, he turns off and goes another way. then i head home pissed off.

So, are our 6th gens REALLY cop magnets? or does someone just have it out for me? I mean, if you look at my pics in my profile, it's basically stock! only thing that is flashy would be the TOM's lip and roof spoiler. and those are OEM/JDM parts!!! I mean I'm no ricer, so WTF.

Yup. I got pulled over 3 times in a week when i first bought the celi. Then I got pulled over by a low profile cop saying I was tailgating him. Which was total bs. Then I got pulled over by a traffic enforcement cop for just passing him. Not even speeding. Cop was a deuche bag and told me that it was unacceptable to pass a traffic enforcement officer. He then told me that I admitted to guilt of speeding and that he should really be giving me a ticket. I was driving 33 in a 30 to pass him since he was speeding up and slowing down the whole time. So i as like no I didnt and btw what did ur radar say. He said he didnt have it so i told him have a nice day, thanks for wasting my time and rolled up my window and drove off. So I've been pulled over at least 6 times that i can remember and got 4 tickets in the celi. More than any car I've had.

I've had that problem with the last two cars I had. My old car was a pretty modded 97 accord LX coupe. It was lowered had rims cf hood. I was tailed by the law so many times it became embarrassing. I've been pulled over for stupid things like tints and even having a dog tag hanging from the rear view mirror. My Celica has also had it's share in pursuits. Cops follow me even more now that have the gt four front end conversion done now & rims. Cops are very stereo typical with Jap cars. Where I live 90% of all the cars I see pulled over are Jap cars. I don't even recall seeing a domestic car pulled over here. They see a jap car they think. Young adult who probably has pot or just pulled off a drive by or something. Its sad really. Here in New York it's got out of hand. You can't enjoy a short ride anymore with out having to look in the mirror to see Jack Law right there following your every move. Yes as mentioned above your city wants your money! Also cops have a quota they have to meet from what I heard with pulling people over.

Well, I've only owned my car since fall last year, and despite driving on the most cop infested roads in my area twice a week to get to school, I've only been pulled over once. I was being a big time idiot and I was lucky to get away with a stern warning, but I learned my lesson. Just tonight I passed three cops that were "camping" and despite the big WRC wing, TRD skirts and spats, and a big loud BLITZ cat back they didn't take notice.

My bro-in-law however was not so lucky. He has a Mitsubishi EVOII and was driving within reasonable speeds and a cop who did not seem to understand the concept of RHD cars thought that no one was driving, and without noting the fact that my bro-in-law made a lane change complete with blind spot check and signaling while being tailed by said cop. When he got pulled over the cop had already called in another cruiser for backup and the three officers took upwards of half an hour going over his car trying to find something to pin him with. Luckily they did not check his DRLs because I know for a fact he does not have them, and he was let go after the whole ordeal.

No way. Never been pulled over once in my Celica. And that's when I had the Hiro spoiler, carbon hood, invader body kit, the whole nine yards. My car was a flashy as a 6GC can get. Drove across the US too... through Texas (which I thought for sure I was going to be pulled over).

I never give them reason to tail me, and even if they do, it's not like they can ticket me on anything (I'm smart enough to know my rights).

I was driving the engineering vehicle (2001 Blazer) and got pulled for a seat belt. First ticket in 5 years, when I surely deserve atleast 150 more when I'm in the cellie.

I'll occasionally get one my ass, but I just follow the rules to a T, let'em drive off, then punch it.

How old are you? Idk about WI but here in NY, especially in my small town, they see a young kid with a nice car and assume you know nothing about laws, regulations, etc. Them tailing you is actually a quick test of your knowledge of the laws of the road. If they don't pull you over, you've passed haha

Also, yes, our cars are definitely attractive for law enforcement...not only are they rare, even in the northeast where I see more of them than elsewhere, but they're obviously stylish from stock.

False. This is a typical civilian excuse for getting a ticket. My neighbor is a police officer for the "city" I live in, there are no such things as quotas. Same with the guy I play hockey with who's an officer in the next town. State Troopers might, but not local police enforcement.

Im not surprised though since i do have a loud exhaust atm. I hear that they can only "follow" you for about a mile or two, is there any truth to that?

I'm sure there are cities and areas where cops are dicks, and others where they're relaxed. Likewise, there are cars that attract attention and others that don't. Mainly, I just try not to drive like an idiot. 3.5 years with a Celica... pulled over 9 times. I'm a 20 year old male driving a car that looks a lot faster than it really was though. Out of those 9 times, they were only able to issue me 3 tickets. Truthfully, I deserved those 3. Now here's the real question... There is absolutely no crime here. Are the cops just bored and looking for excuses to pull someone over and there's no better target than a young male in a sports car OR is it the car alone? I have only gotten pulled over (my first day driving. and 5spd) spun the tires on accident (on a hill) but the cop made me get out and he went and ran my licensee, and insurance. And well it was my first day lol, there wasnt anything to get me for.
I get followed alot! The longest one was from a Walmart 11 miles from my house, all the way to my house! (wayy out of his "jurisdiction"
And occasionally got followed after that. They always! get right up my A**!! at night and, I can tell they want me to go faster just to pull me over, but I am a very good and aware driver so I always know what kind of car is behind me lol.
And that was all without my bodykit!

HAHAHA I feel you there. See, I go to Appleton and I can speed just fine. Come back to Oshkosh and better be EXTRA careful. Maybe the cops here are just dicks. hahaha, you guys are great. When I had the Yelli Celi I drove in to Yakima, WA (Coomer's old town) and I hadn't been in town for more than 15 minutes before I was pulled over. Fortunately Aaron (Blakout16) came along and backed up my story (I was on my way to Aaron's house). Apparently Coomer got pulled over tons of times in Yakima, so I wasn't too surprised when they saw the car and came after me.


Anywhere else I never had any police attention that wasn't deserved and brought on by myself (got one speeding ticket in the Celi).

I got pulled over a few times for no seatbelt and a few for speeding, but I was going well over the limit so it gave them full reason. But even one time I had a headlight out at a busy intersection directly opposite a cop for a red light, he just looked at me and pointed, nodded his head and kept on going. I've only had one problem where I did nothing and a cop (young guy on a power trip) decided to try and tell me that my exhaust was illegal and I need to get it back to stock. Immediately after he stopped me (facing opposite ways of each other) he opened his car door right into my fender. Then after arguing with him for 10 minutes telling him that it is in fact a stock exhaust, I had to pull the my dad is a police officer too card, and the car is actually registered to HIM, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have me driving around in his car with an illegal exhaust. After an angered look he told me to slow down (in the parking garage that I was going 3 ****ing miles per hour in) and got in his car and left.

Yeah I'm from the Town but as you said, no one has any idea hahaha, I'm almost glad I've never seen you around the Celica I drive is a disgrace, I actually bought it from a kid from the City but he gayed it up pretty bad. The interior pieces are all painted white, very ****ty too, and the body is BEAT. I have new fenders for it to replace the destroyed passenger side but I've just never gotten around to putting them on because I'm impatient and heard it was a pain in the ass/time consuming to get the front bumper off to get the fenders on and off. On top of that the rust is just sprayed over and it looks awful. I LOVE the Celica itself but this one isn't in the best condition by any means lol

i dont get that bad of treatment..but whenever i see a cop EVERYTHING shuts down,i up shift regardless of wat im doing(unless im on a hill) so i don't get hassled for my exhaust.The exterior lights go off,the music goes down.I don't wanna **** with them in MY illegal ass car,if i am in someone elses then its a different story

I figure if I can pass by unseen like a regular car it'll be fine. If they see me then they usually get the idea that i'm a young reckless kid driving a sports car. I saw a video in some part of Canada where they are confiscating any vehicle that-

Man this thread is retarded. If cops always 'follow' you then pull over and ask them why. Chance are, it's not your car. There are a lot nicer cars all over, a lot flashier cars all over.
Every person I know who is 'targeted' by the cops, is because they are doing stuff to be targeted. Don't drive like a tool, you won't be followed. And in the rare case they do follow you and you're doing nothing wrong, who cares?! They can't give you a ticket if you aren't doing anything wrong. Just keep driving and let it go.

I used to have one cop car follow me everywhere, but it was one cop who didn't like me in our small town. Each time he followed me, I would turn in to a parking lot or driveway and wait for him to go on before I started to drive again.

And in the rare case they do follow you and you're doing nothing wrong, who cares?! They can't give you a ticket if you aren't doing anything wrong. Just keep driving and let it go.

I used to have one cop car follow me everywhere, but it was one cop who didn't like me in our small town. Each time he followed me, I would turn in to a parking lot or driveway and wait for him to go on before I started to drive again.

so you waste ur time waiting in a parking lot when you really did do nothing wrong then?....

and as i stated before, I don't drive like an idiot, I basically go to school and back going the speed limit, got no exhaust on so i don't sound like a lawnmower passing by.

I change my mind what I said, I got followed about 2-3km by cops yesterday and I didn't realise they were there until I was close to home because I was doing nothing wrong, they pulled me over and tried to get me on speeding although I was just taking corners and accelerating faster than an average driver, It was funny they wasted like 15 minutes of there time.

If a cop is following you and making you nervous, just pull over and let them go by. My friend's mom would do this all the time.

You know how you don't get a ticket? Do the speed limit, use your turn signals, come to complete stops, and don't put 5% tint on your windows. So long as you don't give them a reason then you won't get pulled over. And if you do get pulled over, you know that you weren't doing anything wrong and can contest it in court.


But if you think that all of the police are out to get you and only you, then I recommend mounting a couple cameras in your car- one on the speedometer and one wide angle by the passenger sun visor. Set it up to record to an external hard drive.

I've been driving my GT-Four for over a year now without being pulled up, which is odd seeing as I'm only 20 and the cops here seem to love pulling any young person over in a turbo car.
I'm usually pretty good as far as following the road rules though so I guess they don't have any reason to. I've been in situations though in some of my mates cars where we have been pulled over for no reason, just so the cop can look over the car to try and find something wrong.
Never got pulled over in my 5GC either, actually.

So I'm driving home again and i'm behind this cop car. All the sudden he try to squeal his tires in front of me and drive off. Then he waits at the next stop light, he sees me coming so he flashes his lights to try and get away since it's a red light. but it turns green so I follow him. But the stupid cop car got stuck in traffic and i went into the other lane to go home. WTF!! Cocky ass byatch! I wasn't trying to race him or anything. Just WTF?

I've had my GT-Four for a while now... and haven't noticed a change from when I was driving a rusty '85 Celica GT. And I drive like a bit of an asshole most of the time.

... So I doubt it's the car.

i havent had a cop follow me since i got mine. of course the cop never liked me. i walked into racetrac and i HEARD him say my name in his radio. then i leave and he follows me, i go in jack in the box drive thro so he waits get my food and park lmao. he goes into wal mart parking lot and i just jet off and i get on a back road and i see him going about 50 in a 30 looking for me ha ha ha... never found me.. but lately i get people following me in other various cars.. last week a firebird or camaro was tailgating me BADD it was dark so i dont know who they were they followed me for about a mile just screwing with them and left it pissed me off... then last night some mitisubishi galant pulled up next to me, hinting to race and i didnt want to. they keep taking off and slowing down finally get behind me so i just drop it into 3rd and take off and they stayed back there..
