They don't know any specs. Engadget says 80gig harddrive, but IDK how it can be substantiated if Gizmodo took the whole thing apart. There's no telling what kinda camera is in there.

Even the 8mp on the new HTC Incredible isn't worth writing home to mom about. If you want good quality photos, bring a real camera.

nah, there's no need. I had a Nokia n73 years ago which took awesome photos, only 3.2mp, but had a Carl Zeiss lens...

I hardly ever use my camera on the phone, so it's not a big deal for me. Battery life is a big deal to me. Supposedly 16% bigger battery.

bleh. I am not a fan of the iphone, but i do hope that they have put better quality radios in there this time, the previous versions have sucked hard at getting a signal to use the phone-which is what its name suggests, but did not deliver.

HTC ftw. /thread. lol. wink.gif

Edit: i realize there are probably more than likely some die hard apple fanboys so take no offense to my opinion. And if you decide to counter my thoughts, just know that i don't care.
Thanks. biggrin.gif

Exactly! That's why I don't bother with such phones. To me phone is used for talking, and now text... Anything else, better to leave it up to a specific machine for that.

i've been contemplating getting the SE X10 or wait for this new iPhone. either way, i plan to buy it as a hardware upgrade and resell it. i'm still in love with my SE X1 and don't plan on parting with it since the chefs over at xda are really great cooks smile.gif (htc fans will know what that means)

I'm ALL about my Motorola Droid too... I waited forever for the iPhone to come to Verizon, but once the Droid came out, I found that it met all the needs I wanted an iPhone for. As a self proclaimed Mac snob, that's saying a lot, too. Now that the iPhone is coming to Verizon, I think I'm gonna sit tight with my Droid for a while still. My next phone will still be an iPhone though.

Are you talking about the Motorola DROID phone, or Android OS being better than iPhone OS? Either way it's inaccurate but if someone is saying the Moto DROID is better than the iPhone, its laughable.

Android OS needs more time to evolve and unfortunately there are so many versions coming out with so many phones its starting to look real messy.

I'm referring to both. Android OS is a Linux based OS. Because of that, it is far more tweakable. I have my Droid running at 1.2GHz simply by flashing new kernel slots. I don't think a jail broken Iphone can even compete with a rooted droid except for the app market. Flash has already been developed for the Droid as well.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, personally. I'm just saying the Droid (well, my Moto Droid) fulfills what I wanted the iPhone for, and I'm really happy with it. I love the interface, I love the features, the phone itself in terms of hardware is totally excellent, and I personally think that Google is the best thing to happen since Apple. Again, being a huge Mac snob, that's saying a lot. I just really really love the Android OS.

My experience with the iPhone is pretty limited, what can the iPhone do that the Droid (well, Moto Droid since that's my frame of reference) can't?

Mac OS's are based on Unix, so it's not a big leap. The fact that you tweaked your phone is cool, but I don't think it makes it any better than an iPhone, especially since the average consumer isn't going to do that.

My friend has a DROID, I wouldn't even put it in the same category as an iPhone, since it's not even real competition. HTC Incredible, and Nexus One are far more capable phones both running Android, even if the Incredible has some hybrid software on it.

I'm sure the DROID does most if not all of what an iPhone does. I personally found the DROID to be cumbersome, and the software to need a polish. I've had an iPhone for 3 years now and the only reason I don't go to something else is that nothing seems to be matching what the iPhone creates. It's extremely easy to use, it's a good looking phone, the iPod is unmatched with other mp3 players, the app store is extensive, I don't need or want a physical keyboard, or a slider phone, or a flip phone.

I'm no fanboy, but it seems as though everyones running to catch up. Franky I'd LOVE to get something else, but hell, this things an appendage now.

The Droid has it's own graphic card, and your saying it doesn't even come close to competing with the iPhone? Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but don't be ignorant.

Ugh, they're a disease. But people buy them, so its simple supply & demand.

After Apple cleaned house it's better, but there are lots of great apps in there and since it's so big it has lots of support from just about every business segment. I can live with a lot of the apps I have, but I just don't see another device providing the same user experience. Until another phone comes around (Sprint EVO 4G phone looks good), I'm sticking with this thing.

BTW: I'm not a fan boy of Apple. I could care less about having an "iPhone". Fact of the matter is that all other manufacturers are running to catch up, so everything is basically a downgrade. I'm just waiting for something else to come along.

the iphone does have an unmatched user experience.. it reacts quicker by the touch than any other device that i've used. since the android was released, it is slowly but steadily creeping up to the iphone OS in terms of speed and reliability because of the open-source development. for me, android > iphone OS, because it's more customizeable and supports multi-tasking, but with android still fairly young, it doesn't have the huge 3rd party support unlike its competitors.

apple needs to open up their doors to open-source development (and for god sakes include a keyboard!) rather than releasing the same device with slight improvements/tweaks in the hardware & software.. i'm eager to find out what specs this new 4G iphone has in-store... but i'm sure it's not much compared to the 3G S.

google android = customizeable, open-source, small but growing 3rd party support, not constrained to the same "brand" so more devices are available to match your needs.
apple iphone = fast, great eye candy, poor resolution, app-store, no keyboard, not customizeable, no 3rd party (w/o hacking), slightly overrated imo.

(offtopic)
windows phone = great 3rd party support, unreliable, all else is garbage.. until i get android running 100% on it biggrin.gif (under development)
blackberry = fast, ability to PIN, keyboard, strictly for work and no play.
symbian = terrible..
