WRX's are nice, as are S2000's or 350Z's. Each is affordable as well. Or you can try your luck with an IS300 and see how long it takes you to come crawling back laugh.gif

Right now I am shopping for 2005-2010 4x4 Tacoma
A little later I will be shopping for a 2008-2010 mitsubishi evo x gsr

By that time my celi will probably die so will be putting it to rest or sell it to someone for parts.

Mine just got newer since I overhauled everything that gets worn. So nothing after it. It was my first car, so it has an enormous sentimental value. I was far from it for 4.5 years when I bought it after coming back from Korea when I was in the Army. In those years, I saw it two weeks out of six months and sometimes two weeks out of a whole year. So yeah, this puppy is dying with me. biggrin.gif

99 Honda accord EX V-6. Automatic, coupe, power everything and Leather seats.

Feels great to have something that has more power and actually reliable.
The dream of an AWD GT-4 is just something that can happen in Japan and other countries. Conversions don't cut it. Look at the # of people selling theirs.

If you bought a GT your in good shape, those with ST's just have to spend more money and receive more headaches.

As far as the 7th Gens go, I think they look kinda ugly and the cabin space has become cramped.

I drive an Evo X on a weekly basis. While they handle awesome and feel very nimble for their weight, I'm just tired of them, lol. The Celica might be an old piece of junk but it just feels special. I love Audis. Such awesome interior, even if they're slow.

I test drove quite a few evo x's and its all about how you use them. They are not meant to be a daily driver and most people I know who own one of them has them as a fun weekend car with family car being a 4 door saloon like a nissan or something. Neither evo nor sti were meant to be driven in traffic.

Like top gear says... sti can get you to the track and evo can get you around it.

As I hope to never get rid of my celi i suppose a decent replacement for it would be a 350Z or maybe a project 240. I would love to find a RHD skyline R34... but I don't see myself having the money to buy one!

I'm on my 4th 6gc, definitely won't get rid of the 99. I've had all kinds of different cars; Prelude, Mustang, WRX, SC300, Miata, and I keep coming back to the Celicas.

My plan is to drive my current car until the engine dies, then make it a project and pick up another DD. Next car will definitely be German, most likely an older BMW 3 series or M3.

Something like this, car in a local car club I'm in:

My cellie is currently my DD, it won't be forever. Nor will I rid of it.

When I have to purchase another DD, it will most likely be some sort of SUV. I enjoy the excuse of having the small cellie so work doesn't make me haul stuff on my dime, but it is a hassle to drive 30 mins to work to simply pick up a Blazer.

Any specific one? Nah, aslong as it drives. My desire to work, or customize cars stops at the Celica, and only the 6th gen.

I second that FT-86 suggestion, but only if it's not a Solara. Other than that...I really can't imagine letting go of my Celi anytime soon. Like OOBE said, it's my first car so I'm pretty attached to it (just ask Yuri or Samir). However, a replacement would probably have to be RWD, but same formula. Smaller engine, lightweight.

I was actually about to get either a 7th gen, Corolla S, or Civic EX when I was looking at other cars.

Test drove a Corolla S and get the joys of driving a 7th gen civic ex once in a while, niether compare to a celica. So glad I wound up getting my RSX smile.gif

1. MRS with 2zz-ge swap
2. Altezza turboed

Im never going back to another FF drivetrain after my celica.

And I do agree the 7th gen does have a smaller interior space than the 6th gen, I test drove one before!

Thirded on the FT-86 suggestion, but the Celica isn't my first car.

Seconded on the RWD part.

I'd love to have a brand new Corolla XRS (Not RWD, I know), a Mazda3 Hatch (Again, not RWD) (Preface, none of that smiley stuff) maybe a Genesis coupe. Would have to be standard though. I'd love to have 4 wheel drive...but I can't think of anything other than a WRX that would be something I want. And a WRX is out of my price range.

Hopefully, I'll never have to get rid of my Celica lol

I was actually about to get either a 7th gen, Corolla S, or Civic EX when I was looking at other cars.

Test drove a Corolla S and get the joys of driving a 7th gen civic ex once in a while, niether compare to a celica. So glad I wound up getting my RSX smile.gif

is300's are very nice. If you wanna be a honda/nismo fag then do it elsewhere. laugh.gif Lex is a brand of toyota, and We'll not hear any badmouthing of toyotas here.

Plus they're bagged, it's hella cool to hit Xmph and feel it drop to the ground for aerodynamical fuel economy. tongue.gif

You know how many people on here own a Honda or Nissan? Don't be a jackass. I happen to love my 350z smile.gif

Exactly! Toyota isn't the only good manufacturer out there.

I had my 6gc for almost 3 years, and loved it when I had it. But I got a killer deal on a 98 Mustang GT so I sold my sixth gen. My life after 6gc consists of realizing what a slow slug stock 5sfe's are. My stang is also slow in comparison with most sporst cars, but the celi is a sloth. When I had the celica I thought it was fast though lol. I guess I just realized rwd owns fwd all day and my stang has been much more reliable than my celica ever was. I still lurk here on 6gc.net, because I truly did love my celica, it also saddens me how bad this site has gotten in terms of the owner only updating the home page a couple times a year. PS-flame away on my choice to get a non-import, im completely satisfied with my new post celica car!

Sold the Celica and bought a WRX.

I then bought another 6GC.... and then traded it for my MR2.

Definitely enjoy the MR2 more than the Celicas... except the Yelli Celi, but that doesn't count. RWD is an amazing thing - and Mid engine RWD is a blast.

I would stay with toyota, regardless you cant go wrong, im going to be typical mustang fanboy for a second: ive got my celica as a dd but my weekend car is an 07 GT tuned to around 450rwhp, but honestly i love the blast of tourque, but my 1994 celica w/ 230k miles drives better, has less problems, AND gets more looks at car shows.

Turbo MR2 ftw
sc300 ftw
is300 ftw
and all can be found and modded with affordability in mind

I went backwards and have had 4 MR2s and now the Celica (because I thought I needed back seats). I do use the read hatch as my mountain bike carrier. Looking for a Honda Element now since I can haul bikes and camping gear in them.

Any other car I get will be in addition to my green Celica. It was my first car, my dad got it for me just after I turned 17. I've put more than 100k miles on it, spent a lot of time in that car, and the older it gets the better it looks.

Within the next 1-2 yrs I will buy a 93-95 MR2, after that will be an 05-08 Lotus Elise, then maybe a Supra. Somewhere in between will have to be buying a garage with an apartment in it.

Seems like the IS 300 gets mentioned several times.. Just make sure to get a manual if you look into those.

After college, I plan on keeping my Celi until it croaks and using it as my DD (no crazy engine work, I'm fine with my 7AFE with an intake, header, and maybe pulleys and cam gears, not sure), and buying an FD RX-7 as my toy car. I have always loved and adored the 13B-REW Wankel rotary engine. IT. IS. GOD. As for when my Celi croaks... maybe an Evo. I like the sportiness and performance of it, but by the time I'm that old (I'm 18 at the moment), I'll probably want a 4 door. Evo or WRX fit the 4 door performance sedan category perfectly.

I am probably going to treat myself to an FT86 (providing it isn't branded Scion) after grad school as a graduation present to myself, assuming it is out around 2012.

I do plan on picking up a 7gc though, maybe not so much as another DD, but as a project. A nice white or light silver one, do the interior in blue, dress it up a bit.

All of this in mind however, I have no plans on getting rid of my 6gc anytime soon. My baby's a '97 AT200 and has only like 130K on her. There is no reason for me to get rid of her anytime soon. biggrin.gif

I sold my celica in February of 2009 and since then I have had an 02 rsx-s, a 99 civic si and now i have an 04 mazda3. Still miss the celica though... nothing is quite like it that's for sure!
