are they universal???

so long as you have a turbo a BOV will work.

some are geared towards higher boost aplications and some are replacements for oem BOV's

but for the most part, yes, any BOV will work with any turbo car.

Can a BOV be utilized for a supercharged setup? such as a 4agze? I know it allready has a ABV, but i'm wondering if u can change that to a BOV, cuz i love that PPPPPSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTT sound!

what does ABV stand for?

im pretty sure that it does the same thing as a BOV only it recirculates into the intake

Yes, Air Bypass Valve...

I know thats what it does.... just wondering if i could use a BOV.. for perhaps other applications, like maybe eventually turboing it?

rolleyes.gif air bypass or blow off valve... same thing.. both bleed off pressure before it reaches the turbo.. different brands make different sounds.. and depending what sensor is on your car ie an AFM u cannot vent to astmophere.. it has to be recivculated.. and if the opening is inclosed to feed the o2 to the turbo inlet the sound will be muffled.

correct me if sensors or tech info is wrong..

Air Bypass Valve and a Blow off Valve work differently.

They aren't the same thing.

If you want to use a BOV on your Supercharged engine, save some money and get your engine Turbo'd too. It'd be intense to see a 6GC running SC Boost and TC Boost.

What about ones like HKS SSQV and Blitz DD, they have different chambers and other technical stuff....

would they work well with AFMs?

the difference is the springloaded aftermarket BOVs blow metered air off into the atmosphere, making the motor run rich. this is why stock, most applications use a ABV or BPV... these recirculate the air back into the intake, so you dont loose the air, and the motor wont run rich. SSQV is the only aftermarket BOV that im aware of to utilize a non-springloaded system, which has a twin chambered air system. this allows for quicker and more precise action, but with the 2nd staggered larger chamber, it allows for large ammounts of air to escape for large boost applications. the stock ones use the dual chamber setup, but it doesnt allow for large ammounts of air to escape

From what i've heard the SSQ works pretty well with the AFM's.

How could one twin charge the 4agze? Out of curiousity. I know it's an option but i'm wondering at how much more $$$$ its gonna cost to take the project that far. For now i am just gonna run the 4agze w/ the supercharger and HKS pulley (should be around 14psi), then we'll see what happens from there. Hopefully my swap will be done by spring break rolleyes.gif ....

What i'm asking is like how does the twincharging work? Does it have the SC'er working during one set of rpms? and the turbo kicking on after it reaches another set and turns of the super? wouldnt that cause boost spikes and such? I'm just curious on how it would really work............

Twincharging works sequentially, the SC will handle initial boost, the Turbo eventually takes over shutting down the SC once the boost pressure in the Turbo Manifold is equal to the total boost pressure (has nothing to do with RPMs). The SC cuts out and gets bypassed when the turbo spools up to maximum boost. The Turbo pretty much blows into the SC. This puts the two Chargers in sync, allowing the quick build-up of boost. When both Chargers together reach maximum set boost, a Bypass Valve is slowly opened around the SC allowing the Turbo to continually increase boost (although manifold is always showing the same boost). When the Turbo alone is pushing maximum boost, the HKS SC Controller, which is monitoring Turbo boost, shuts off the SC clutch and allows the Turbo to take care of all the boosting. HKS has a Twincharger Kit, and you don't even have to worry about Turbo lag anymore neither. tongue.gif
