Hey Guys/Girls,

I have just purchased my new to me 1994 Celica (ST204) SX and cant wait to get to Adelaide on Monday to pick it up. In detail the car is a 5 speed manual that has clocked 187,000kms its a metallic blue color with grayish interior. The paint is a little off mainly on the roof and a little bit on the hood and a few tiny spots on the back hatch part, around $1000 for a fix up (quoted from one place in the country) The engine is the stock 53-FE all factory original or replaced with standard parts.

The reasons i chose to get a Celica is because i am currently driving a 1981 Toyota Corolla KE55 Coupe. It has been nothing but good to me and my uncle before me. Also the body of the 6th Gen Celica is a work of art. the curves from the front to the back along the sides are amazing and it is such a modern car for its age.

Plans for this car?

Audio is always a first... haha

ordered the following:

HU: Fusion CA-IP500 (FUSION HEADUNIT WITH AN INTERNAL IPOD DOCK)

Front: Fusion EN-CM650 (FUSION ENCOUNTER 6.5" COMPONENT SPEAKER SYSTEM 240W)

Rear: Fusion EN-FR6530 (FUSION ENCOUNTER 6.5" 3-WAY 200W SPEAKERS)

Boot: Fusion RE-SW120 (FUSION REACTOR 12" SINGLE VOICE COIL 600W SUBWOOFER)

Powered By: Fusion RE-AM90010 (FUSION REACTOR MONOBLOCK AMPLIFIER 900W FOR SUBWOOFER)
and... Fusion EN-AM60040 (FUSION ENCOUNTER 4 CHANNEL AMPLIFIER 600W FOR SPEAKERS)

all of that so far has cost me $548aud posted to me, just need the two 4 gauge wiring kits for the Amps...
Best get this out of the way first: I'm sure a lot of people have lots to say about the quality of fusion, i have been buying and using their products for quiet a few years now and am happy to say very impressed with what they supply, and I'm not out to impress you and what you like that's what your car is for smile.gif so lets please not turn this in to an audio brand debate, thanks.

If anything this will be one of the more higher powered sound setups i have ran and am still new to the amp/multi amp systems. (got my first amp about 2.5 weeks ago) and just trial and error with it.
So what I would love is some info on the wiring/setup of a system like this in the 6th Gen Celica as that's what I'm sure most of you know your way around the car itself and would be able to inform me of the best places to run the amp power cables to the battery and the best places for the amps and ways to run the speaker wires etc, etc... So any info you can share with me would be the most helpful thanks people.

Also wondering what to do with the boot, with that pesky spare sticking up in the way of everything..... Some ideas or things you have done would help here thanks again...

Secondly I would love to get some nice front bumper, skirts and rear bumper to toughen it up a little, Don't get me wrong the car is nice just a little work on the front end with an aftermarket bumper would make it look a hell of a lot better. I have seen a few on here with the Veilside front ends/kits and I'm in pure envy of it...... but here i have no idea of whats out there as Google didn't help very much at all when trying to search for this kind of thing....

After that's all fitted in i was going to get the money together to get the paint fixed on the roof, hood and back hatch which i think i said before is around $1000 from the local crash repairs for just a sand back and paint match....
The thought of a full respray has crossed my mind like hell I'm saving up the $1000 to get it touched up how much more can it be for a full respray (Obviously of some sort of quality/Standard)
In my head i got the figure of $4000 floating around but haven't even looked in to it so i have no idea...

Lastly would be the engine... I'm on the complete other side of the pole when it comes to engines, On my KE55 4K-C engine I can do the basics like change from the coil to the plugs and all the in between parts of that section, i can change starter motors and air filters and that's as far as i go... haha. So yeah fairly basic and when i look in at the 5S-FE its a complete different ball game, i would be able to change that nicely located oil filter at the front there and that's it lol.
Reading around the 3S-GE seems to be the choice engine swap in prep for a 3S-GTE... so maybe i should look in to this in the distant future...

anyways all thanks for reading, cant wait to start this adventure with my new Celica and hoping to meet some great new people along the way. Also lets try not to overload me and my brain and stick to the basics on all the steps apart from step 1 for now once the audio is set up we can move on to the others.... I think that sounds good as i cant tackle more than one thing at once..... biggrin.gif

catch ya all later biggrin.gif Thanks again.

It's always great to get new members!
Just read all the forum rules, and you'll have no problem man smile.gif
And as for bumpers, skirts, etc., unless you know exactly what you're looking for, you won't get far on google, but 6gc is a GREAT place to look at other members' cars and ask questions to completely be sure of what you want to do with your Celica. Good luck with it all and I hope to see a progress thread!

you can actually buy the covers that are pre-made with a grill so you won't have to do any cutting or drilling, just ask around cause I bet people have them

All the new speakers, Head unit, Amps and Subs are installed. Just need a place for the Tweeters and a Capacitor because the Bass is causing my headlights and dash lights to dim slightly.

next up is a new muffler on it, the tone of it isn't the worst sounding but i want something that says here comes a sports car. friend said just replace the back muffler with a cannon that has an exit no bigger than a 2 liter coke bottle...

what is like the choice thing you guys would go for here... Im not looking at massive dollars to replace the whole exhaust system here maybe $400 max for this part.

Hey thanks I never got back to read ur comments, my sig is my car smile.gif my baby supra smile.gif
The kit is an "invader" (mine is an VIS kit which would run you about $800 full, but their are Veilside kits that for some reason are about $3,000, I just bought a veilside decal and no one will ever know the difference lol. And The cheaper kits will need some work to fit well) I had NO! body work experience before my kit, so you can do it too smile.gif. And My sideskirts are 93-99 Supra Invader sideskirts (which is alot of work to mold, but look amazing! But also the celica invader side skirts that come with the kit look pretty decent)
I think if you drilled out the wholes for the tweeters personally it would come out looking fine, and saves you prob 30 bucks on covers smile.gif
The exhaust options are absolutely endless! I have a magnaflow muffler and resonator (runs about $300+) No shops around me would bend the larger piping so I have no real power increase, but it sounded alot deeper and louder, but not crazy LOUD!! If there is a shop that will bend you 2.25" piping from the cat-back I imagine it would run about 150-200, and would sound better, with some (very little still) power gains.
I have vids which I will post below of stock, with the muffler and res, and then with the header muffler and res smile.gif
With a header the exhaust not will be a little higher, slightly raspier, but will give you the most power gain (again not much, but the most)
And if you have any questions about my bodykit, or anything just ask smile.gif I had no idea what I was doing going in so I can tell you exactly what to do, and more importantly what not to do lol

▼Vids▼

Stock Exhaust (can hear the CAI)

With the Magnaflow Muffler and Resonator (real cam with better sound quality I think, and my old engine so blue oil smoke)

Now with the header and muff and res (and bodykit when before i repainted, and new engine)

Ohhh very nice, I'm liking the last video with the Header, Magnaflow Muffler and Resonator.

so for the Exhaust i was thinking of Header (if they are the right ones) and for the Muffler I'm not sure what to go with, what is the stock size of the exhaust piping and where would i find a Magnaflow Resonator checked out ebay and there was none, If i just got the Header and Muffler would it sound as good? I also have no idea about Resonators here in Australia??

Mufflers interested in:
OBX B10 (With this being a 2.5" inlet can you fit that to the stock exhaust?)
MGF12900 (Magnaflow)

And for the body i like the look and price of this Veilside Kit the price seems reasonable and the same place sells a spoiler for $400 or something so id look at that as well. Anyone dealt with this site before or heard of them?
For that price makes me wonder if its genuine Veilside product but even if its not I'm not that fussed as long as its going to fit with not the most fuss in the world...

Also will probs get myself a CAI Kit at the end of this week as well, read up and seems the mid 90's Honda kit is the one to get with a few tweaks works a charm... This would be the one i assume...

Thanks for the info smile.gif and reply's. Videos have helped heaps as well thanks again.

Yeah exhaust is virtually endless as far as possibilities, and ill try to answer all the questions, and give suggestions, but its gonna be all over the place lol
This is the Intake I got for my car (st) and fits GT as well (I dont think it would be much different, as it just has to come down straight. But the main thing about this intake that I love is the "heat shield" (to be honest dont think it really shields too much heat for a better performance) But with the shield unlike a normal CAI the filter is alot! more protected (from water splashes) And if you have the splash shields under your car still it wont be a problem at all smile.gif no worries with it. (obviously dont drive through lake puddles with your celica lol)
Most CAI's I would recommend buying This As if the spash shields are not still under your car (engine bay) water can splash up and into the unprotected intake

The ST and like 99.9% sure that GT is the same (pipe diameter wise) is 1.75". My muffler has a 2.25" inlet, and needed a few little adapters to bring it down, but the shop did it very quick and doesnt look that hard, that was just a few years back so I didnt know anything frown.gif. If the shop can run you all new pipe (some can, some refuse!) Get all new piping that will "plug" right into your new muffler. Will get better flow and presumably better sound.
As far as the muffler choice its kind of a "blind shot" I knew someone who had a magnaflow muffler (models i assume all have slightly different pitches and tones to them) and I wanted a deeper sound which i knew I could get with my muffler. Now my very good friend has an obx muffler (and quite sure resonator) and it sounds more "raspy" like my final video, and that is with stock exhaust manifold (no header). And keep in mine all exhausts will become less "deep" when a header is added, but more power will come along as well.
The resonator, gives it a nicer "tone" (id watch some videos) With out it, it sounds more towards with "civic ricer" with more higher pitched sounds.
Its all up to what you want, and every engine, with every exhaust is going to sound different.

Again my "knowledge" is more aimed toward the ST, but message the seller of the header, it seems odd to me that it would fit 5th and 6th gen GT's, but they could be the same I am not real sure. And I would recommend bringing all of this to a shop to get done as exhaust jobs can turn quite ugly the first time around wink.gif

I would call the place that is selling the veilside kit, and verify it is real veilside if your paying the money. I have had 4 kits and they all say on the kit, under the fiberglass (so it can really be changed) what brand the kit is. I have had VIS, AIT, Dura-flex, and eribuni, I assume veilside would make its own mark on its product. Again I dont have an experience with veilside, but from what ive heard it fits better, a little lighter, and easier install. But much more priceyyy!
My rear bumper and sideskirts fit on pretty generally easy (rear bumper looks odd no matter what if its not molded IMO, just the way it has to sit on the outside, i think I have some pics of when i installed it, ill try and find them and throw them at the bottom for you) But my front bumper was a terrible! fitment and took a good 2 days of on and off, and shaving down to fit well. But other members have gotten the same VIS kit and had no problems. All kits are not created equal tongue.gif

i think im rambling now, heres the pics, and ask any questions, someone was always there for me doing this, so ill do the same smile.gif

The rear bumper can never sit 100% flush because it has so go around the body, so it looks a bit odd (to me anyhow), and molding it isnt too hard, may as well do it smile.gif... oh and dont install in the winter like i did... its cold and frustrating lol

after i painted it, before the molding still

Feel free to browse around my photobucket, i have endless pictures (i think you can browse around? with out being signed in?)

Rang around and got a quote for $350 to get a full 2" exhaust with a hotdog then a Lukey muffler at the back thats parts and labour. he also said he could chuck on a bit smaller lukey at the back to get that raspy (riceburner) sound similar to the last video.

Ive heard the lukey mufflers make a similar sound to a cannon just not the same look?

I vote for a bigger size(2.5') coz of the throaty grunt it'll have and the motor'll have little effort in taking out the exhaust fumes(even with us humans, more energy is used up when breathing out due to a blocked nose when less energy is used up with a unblocked one).Nevertheless, back pressure is also an important element to n/a vehicles(try driving with no pipes besides the headers on,excessive loss of power) so additional resonators will be needed to also reduce this and the chance of one digging deep into pockets for gas money..

opinions contrary to this is also encouraged as i may be wrong. smile.gif

Erm..im not sure what refers to "hotdog" but as far as i heard in fiji,it's just a street term that refers to the tailpiece(buddy,no harm intended in the statement, just trying to clear things).Well,as for the setup i have, i removed the catalytic converter(the 2.5' started from there),then i have two resonators(one that is 2.5' and the second one from the front a 2.0' that was installed lately to reduce fuel consumption and increase low-end torque) with a fujitsubo giken tailpiece.
^^hope this helps

smile.gif Wish you the very best with that but since you bought the car and it is over a decade old,my personal opinion is to work on the handling/suspension bit before switching for max gain from the motor.

yeah, smart move, the exhaust was originally for a better tone.... but since I'm doing that i may as well get something worth getting so later on I don't have to wast more money on replacing a almost new exhaust.. but defiantly after the exhaust will come a body kit then repaint and then the serious stuff...

Marvelous.Plus seeing that you opted for a 3S swap in the future, even with a turbo setup,a 2.5' won't be of any harm.but for turbo cars, the best exhaust is no exhaust at all but im pretty sure the authorities would not allow that.lol.It's your choice afterall smile.gif

Interior parts around Shifter, Headunit and Steering wheel are now White. Turnt out ok but could be better...

Also Dash lights (Tacho, Speedo etc.) are now Blue instead of the stock Green.

and got the 2 12' Subs installed in Temp boxes till my carpenter mate makes up a full custom boot to level out that stupid spare and sit the subs where the parcel shelf should be.

Question:

Looking at this spoiler for the Celica:

I can get it in either Primer or Carbon Fiber style.
Primer is $238 and can be painted to match my car for approx $150
carbon is $400

Now i plan on installing it as soon as i get it so if i was to get the plain primed one i would have it painted now and then again when i get my car fully repainted in a new color...
or i get the carbon fiber style one chuck it on and its all sweet

What do you think would look better? in the long run it has to look best on on of these colors as they are the two color/looks I am leaning towards unless anything else catches my eyes between then...

Glossy Green

Gloss Black

Thanks for your help and suggestions people, Much appreciated.

Update: All work and no play, Makes it hard to find time to get some stuff done on the car..

But with the spoiler decided to give it a miss. 2 weeks ago Friday was driving home from the city of Adelaide to where i live in the country at 2am swerved a kangaroo and hit the guard rail, Ruining the front bumper front driver side quarter, rear bumper and denting the back rear side quarter/body.

Luckily for full insurance its getting all fixed up and to stop it from being a write-off i had to skip getting the OEM front and rear bumpers and get the VeilSide ones as they are cheaper biggrin.gif That is a very big positive in the whole situation...

haha seems to be a positive in a negative...

So they should be on and all fixed up before the end of this week then to get the skirts and get them on and painted. After that saving for the full respray in a new color.

hey welcome

i think 2" is the standard size exhaust pipe diameter on the non turbo celicas.

either 2 1/4 or 2.5" exhaust from the front to the rear would be a good upgrade, i don't think in australia you are allowed to remove the cat?

haha little late for Exhaust tips as i have had the 2.25" put on for a while now biggrin.gif but thanks. and when I looked it up and looked under the car it has no Cat? i was told an internal one... not sure if thats true or not....

black paint with a lime green pearl thrown in: Sounds interesting any pics that may demonstrate this thanks?

obnoxious green: Assuming this is the green I'm after similar to the other one i uploaded a few posts back?

Also a question, with the headlights, what are the stock ones? what are projectors? benifits of HID kit?

and a pair of spotlights/fog lights to fit well in the Veilside Invader kit maybe an Ebay link please? (Australian if possible)

Thanks for the feedback people. will have new pics hopefully in a few days..

yeah obnoxious green was reffering to the color a few posts back, but not at all being a ass lol, i like bold colors and sticking out like a sore thumb lol
Also 94 preface (orange) blinkers will not work with the invader front bumper. you need to get clears from a 96+ from experience.

I put in these fog lights, more show than anything but they look very nice in the dark and they were like $5, ill get a link if u like them. Pretty simple to put in, requires a little cutting but if u can install the bumper you can install the fogs

Not a big fan of the Black and green pearl. As Mgnt232 said, I also like the boldness and sticking out like a sore thumb biggrin.gif

That's a pain to know about the Indicators because I'm not the one fitting the bumpers and I'm fair sure the guy doesn't know this -.- I need to find me some clear side indicators and front ones. ebay isnt showing any at all anyone got a source thanks?

Those fog lights also look very nice but as I said I'm not installing the bumpers so not sure as to how id go with installing them. Don't know if I could bring my self to start cutting away at the body...

The only ones you NEED to replace are the front turn signals, they are just a little different shape. The side ones are just your preference, they dont need to be replaced (idk if there was confusion there).

►Link to fogs◄ ►Another Link to Fogs◄
►Link to Clear Sides and Blinkers. Ships to AU◄

You can install them very easy too, just need a drill and a pencil to outline. Dont even need to fill anything

Thanks heaps for those links. Some reason they weren't coming up in my ebay searches? maybe a filter or something...

Is it possible if you could post a few snaps of your car in the dark with just the fog lights on and then the fogs and head lights please, Thanks biggrin.gif

Yeah I posted one a pic of them working, but i dont have a pic with the actual headlights, just my LED's.
The 96+ clear turns are just a different shape completely, they have a different curve that allows them to fit in. The 94 would involve alot of cutting from what I saw trying to fit them in, and then i asked a few members and it was confirmed that they dont fit
I just drilled a hole and ziptied them, for the week for so I didnt have the clear turns. Makes more sense in the pic below. Or you can just leave them dangle, at night the whole hole (where blinker would be) will light up, But cant be seen in the daylight (if dangled). And most of my driving was done in the day. Hard to explain
