Its dvr'd at my parents house, from the reviews ive read im going to watch the entire season before i give a final yay or nay. the cast DOES need some time to start to click and understand eachothers styles

You didn't miss anything. Tanner Foust was good, the other two were not impressive. I mostly just heard "horsepower YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW."

It's decent. But they try way too hard to be like the UK version, so it's not nearly as entertaining.

Although, I did like the Labo shoot out. Too bad they didn't do more tests with those cars.

I just finished watching it. I have a lot of respect for Tanner Foust's driving. But this show desperately needs new hosts. These three are all profoundly boring and I think the producers assume we're all a bunch of ignorant people. I'm sorry, but I don't need every single thing explained to me. Viper vs. Cobra attack helicopter, cool concept. Except Jeremy Clarkson already did it in a Lotus and it was way better.

As Clarkson would say, it's ambitious but rubbish.

The only episode of the UK Top Gear I've ever seen is where they tried to max out the Veyron, so I can't really compare.

I enjoyed the first US episode immensly, the Viper and the Hipachi (sp?) scene was amazing, and my wifes favorite supercar is the Lambo, so even SHE enjoyed it. But the 2nd episode seemed to be missing something... I agree with an earlier statement that there is no chemistry between the three dudes.

Tanner Faust is a god behind the wheel of a car though... and at this point, he is why I watch the show. Adam's not that funny, and I find the big guy annoying 80% of the time.

Having said that, I'll keep trying to watch. I haven't seen the first two episodes fully, only caught snippets. If it doesn't get cancelled, the show will probably be better when the second season comes around.

As for Danica, I couldn't agree more. But she has at least established herself as a professional driver in an otherwise "man's world". She might not be the best driver in the world, but I have to respect what she's done for the stereotype, "Women can't drive..."

Yes, that is why I'm watching the show... Good call. And my point was also proven in the second episode. Still no witty or sarcastic humor pertaining to the Stig. Still no humor at all, actually. As I told Ferdi, I feel like this show is more "Car and Driver" than it is "Top Gear."

The bit with the Evo was cool, but still copied from Richard Hammond racing an Audi down a mountain against two skiers. I'll admit, in the first episode when we got a preview of what's to come later in the season, I did see a bit that looked interesting. Looks like these three buy some old trucks and take them out and test them. Not something we'll ever see on BBC's Top Gear, so that will be interesting. Otherwise, I really don't feel like this show is aptly named.

I enjoyed the bit with the 370Z's quite a bit. Tanner and a blind man vs. the other two guys, and the other two hosts were outdriven by a blind man with less than a day's driving experience. Props to Tanner Foust for that one.

I agree - if theres going to be any comedian hosting, it should be Jerry Seinfeld or Jay Leno (just because of their car collections... lol).

Seinfeld won't ever host, and all he has is Porsches. I would have preferred to see a Car and Driver, or Road & Track writer in there, instead of Rutledge (he's a NASCAR commentator).

I still feel like this show isn't really "Top Gear" in anything but the name, but they've got their feet wet and they're finally jumping in for a swim.

I disagree. Yes it LOOKs to be awesome, but slow it down and look closer.
-Apparently they have a camera that can walk around the car. At one point it was on the windshield,then it moved to the rear,then it moved to the side.
-At the last little area when the car got off the snow onto the pavement the evo is completely waxed and beautiful with not one traced of snow on it(and no camera,it must have jumped off ), when 2 minutes earlie it was covered and caked in snow and had a camera...

That just leads me to believe they were stopping after every shot to adjust everything and go again, and in a race that doesnt exactly work :\. This reminded me of both the James May race against the 2 bmx bikes across a city, and the bikes jumped over his car midrace, and when Hammond raced down in the Audi as previously mentioned.


I have yet to watch all the BBC top gear so i have really no need to watch this yet.

I've kind of come to terms with the fact that it is not and will never be BBC's Top Gear. Thankfully, TiVo takes care of that for me. I still watch this one, but only as a substitute when I can't watch the original Top Gear.

Perhaps it's the inner redneck in me, but I was amused by the trucks as well. That's not something we'll ever see on BBC's Top Gear, so it was something new and different. Again, I feel that different hosts could have pulled it off better, but I'm beginning to get over that.

I cbfed reading through every post on here but its exactly the same in Australia, not many people like it and its fail haha.

Although saying that its still better than other Australian car shows but you can't compare it to the English one, you can't replace Clarkson, Hammond or May.

When they get the 3 Top gears together and do shows with them all versing each other, then it will be interesting.

I personally enjoyed the last episode (Americas Toughest Truck), I have always enjoyed the challenges that require them to spend very little $$ and do something wild. Also, i believe the toyota was purchased for the similar 3000$ as the other 3 trucks.

I wasn't really listening and turned and saw the Toyota. I got excited for a second, then when they said "whoever breaks down will have the embarrassment of driving a crappy import." That is the exact second i said "f*ck you retards" and went to watch George Lopez

I think of the Toyota being a back up truck is more of a compliment actually. Because they had to find an import truck that they knew could handle the touph environment that the other trucks were going to go through and 2 of them didn't even make it btw. +1 to Toyota for a reliable off-road vehicle.

So today, I was on a local car forum and came across a thread with a guy is selling his 70' datsun 521. I noticed the guy had a sort of unique user name, and his signature was promoting top gear USA. Turns out this guy is Rutledge Wood (the fat guy) from top gear USA, and not only is he an active member on that car forum, but he is also a moderator, and to top it all off, he lives in the same town as me. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of top gear USA, but I think its pretty cool that the guy is actually involved in the car world outside of the show.
